I have added a picture in #1 post, so you can see that this is a shortened version of cocoon (at my daughter's request)

:think :( :eek
Am I confused but im trying to do this sweater and on the first row where you ch 3 sc ch 3 sc in next stitch? There will be many more than 23 loops if we dont skip any stitches? Am I reading it wrong?

you definitely skip stitches.
Make sure your starting chain is = the measurement from underarm to underarm across your back.
There are two sets of instructions, I think the second one is better.

Layna,
There was an error in that row. The row should read:
Corrected ROW 1: SC IN 7th CH FROM HOOK,*CH 3, SKIP 3 CHAINS, SC IN NEXT ST REPEAT FROM* TO END ( 23 CH loops made)

Joanne, the instructions are not written in great detail:( but once you get the idea of the pattern, you can muddle through it. The only other round that I found was really incorrect is Rnd 35 which reads: RND 35. WORK CH 3. SC IN EACH CH ST AROUND, JOIN WITH SL ST IN FIRST CH 3 LOOP. It should read :
RND 35. Ch 3, *SC AFTER GROUP of 3 or 4 DCS, CH 3, REPEAT FROM * TO END.
