Welcome to the new Sky CAL

The purpose of this group is to get all those UFO’s completed and get more organized .

We will work on a point system , one month at a time .

Each month, we will start with a clean slate and clear all points awarded for the past month .

The winner of the first month will receive a small item as a prize (price $ 2- $ 3 )

If you are the winner for that month, it will be up to you to send a prize to the winner of the next month, etc. That way, one person will not have to send all prizes .

What you work on each day will be your decision .As long as you are working on ANY project, you will get points for that day, based on the scale below .

Good luck and have fun !

Point System

One point a day for POSTING .

One point a day if you answer the question of the day .

One point for each small granny square .

One point for each row or round completed on a medium project ,such as a baby afghan, shawl or sweater .

One point a day for keeping and WRITING in a crochet journal .

One point for each separate Photo you share on Photo Friday.

Rainbow points- if you are making a scrap project, one point for each color used on it that week .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
Five points for each row on an adult sized afghan .
Five points - Small items completed (dishcloths ,squares over 5 rounds ,small toys, hats ,scarves ,etc )
Five points if get a thank you in the mail from someone you made an item for .
Five points for a Flat Stanley Photo
( a photo of you crocheting in an unusual spot )
5 points if you change your avatar weekly, based on the theme that week. The new theme will be announced on Friday.
You also get an extra 5 bonus points each time you change your avatar again during the week, as long as it is still in the theme we are going with that week. You can only get points for one change a day , though .
Five points if you recruit a new member to join the group .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
Ten points for a preemie afghan completed .

Ten points if you give the item to someone and have a photo of them WITH the item .

Ten points if you design a new pattern to share .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
25 points for a completed afghan .
Added Bonus points – Each morning, I’ll choose a secret post number for the day . Whoever posts on that number will get 5 bonus points .
Each morning I will also write down a color of yarn. If that is the color you are using that day you get 5 bonus points.
****New & Improved ******
THE DEAD ZONE
-- if you pick ONE HOUR A DAY as your CROCHET hour-- that means no cleaning, cooking,laundry, or POSTING in here -- and dedicate that one hour to CROCHET -- give yourself 5 bonus points for that hour.
Ya! I'm using the color of the day! I can also add two points for finishing the cradle purse and the bear. I just need to finish up the blanket and dress which should be done tomarrow. Then its back to the baby blanket that I've been doing anything to put off....its made of peices and I just hate them.
I know Jenni. I have that problem too. I have gone through my pattern books and I have about ten books out here that have something that I'm interested in making. I don't think I'll make all of them but I know there will be a few toys each in the box :yes Right now I'm finishing up probably the last toy for the toy drive that KristieMN is doing. Then I will start working on things for the boys.
Bf has been trying to wake me up for ages, only cause he wants feeding, woke up with a splitting headache and in a bad mood.
Judy - It is hard to get into a routine especially when they keep messing me about with my shifts, working both nights and days for next few weeks, can't afford to turn the work down, even if it makes me tired and grummpy for a bit.
Tammy & Juile - I used to love the darleks when I was a kid used to put washing bin over my head and pretend to be a darlek :lol I prefer the newer episodes to the older ones. It's just a shame the BBC are gonna axe the show next year:( My favourite Dr is David Tennant ....MMMMMMMMMM lovely, had him as an avitar earlier in the week. He was also in one of the Harry Potter films, goblet of fire.
Anyway no crochet done yet today, no purple projects today.
Sherri - I love Dolly Parton, saw her in concert at the NEC in March and she was fantasic, dont dont why I didnt think of that one!
Gonna go and get ready for my bath and get some dinner sorted out.
Good luck with your sore toe. That sounds like it hurts . It'll be better once they get it all taken care of though. I bet it hurts worse now than it will then .
Kathy - Must be a rash of that kinda problem :yes My nephew had the same thing done last week. He woke up here one morning horribly ill. Rushed him to the ER and everything. They never looked at his feet and the fool never said anything. Took until his follow up with his regular doctor to see the toe. Doctor told him that was probably what was making him so sick. It was horribly infected. His toe had even turned so purple it was almost black. This is an 18 year old we're talking about. You'd think when his toe started turning colors he would've said something :P Anyway, hope you have a super easy time with it and heal real soon :hug
Any Veggie Tales fans? Madame Blueberry sings "I'm so Blue" because she wants stuff from the Stuffmart. Must have mentioned yarn in there somewhere.......:yarn
Got another round of squares on last night. I'm running out to get that Warm Brown today to get started on the next round. I don't think it'll be on for tomorrows pic, but oh well. I'll do what I can!
I love the Silly Songs by Larry!
I'm going to post my friday photos now so I won't have to worry about it while my parents are here.
So here's what I did this week. (And I lied, there are still 3 boxes left, but they are toys and my kids haven't missed them yet.)
And here's the only crocheting that I did this week. About a dozen stars in various sizes and colors. DS is thrilled with the stars and now wants all the planets too! :lol
EM - I love the apartment. Great decorating, especially the cool red tea pot. I've got the same one!
I haven't picked up my hook yet, but will soon. And it will probably be purple too. I'll either make a few music notes, or work on the square toy I started last night.
Thanks! The kids actually share a room. They each have a side to decorate as their own.
I found that getting DS excited about how to decorate his new room makes the move easier on him. We lucked out that his uncle (who also did the oil painting in the living room) gave DS an oil painting of a space scene. DS was thrilled with the gift and the idea of making his new room match it.
Amy -It was a gift. My kitchen is in ladybugs (thanks to my mom -long story) and the teapot matched perfectly!
Em - my kitchen will probably end up with lots of ladybugs as well. Red is my favorite color, and I used to LOVE ladybugs when I was in HS. I still like them, but I'm afraid that when I get my own house, I'll get a lot of ladybug gifts for the kitchen.
We tried to do shades of blue (my favorite color) in my kitchen, but my mom keeps sending us ladybug stuff. It started when I went to Argentina. She was under the impression that I would encounter a lot of bugs down there. Just roaches and mosquitoes. So as a joke she keeps sending the ladybugs. I finally gave in. On my WIM list are ladybug magnets!
I have a cute ladybug magnet that KnicKnac made for me during the fridgie exchange. It likes to walk all over my fridge (BF moves it every now and then). I thought it was lost the first time I didn't see it, but instead it was on top of the freezer door.
I that why my head hurts so bad today? I couldn't remember what happened. :lol
BTW Julie~I remember too much that's the real problem. You may not remember a conversation that went on in another group we were in but I do. All the joking about how you owned every color of duct tape & such. Hopscotch? Remember the duct tape bra picture? Oh my, you can't tell me you don't remember all of that. That's what made me think of duct tape for you. All of the jokes you made about it. Sorry, if I offended ya. You know i'de never do that on purpose. :manyheart :hug
The first is Joan getting her granddaughter's sweater. First time I've had someone pay me to make something.
The second is Leona getting Lindsey's sundress. I added the skirt. There is a pic of Lindsey in the corner.
My avatar is Xena and Gabrielle. Saw someone has Wonder Woman. Xena is the other Wonder Woman.
Cara- I LOVE British tv, movies and books. My ultimate trip would be to England, the whole British Isles.
I really had to LOOK UP IN THE SKY today. On the way home, about 2:30, little ole' CT started getting tornado warnings!!! The lasted till about an hour ago. The rain and everything is done. There were 3 confirmed tornadoes. It was quite cool watching the news and seeing the storm just cut across out state from west to east.
No crochet yet.
Oh and here is how far I am on the bathing suit top:
Morning everyone.
How is everyone going.
I have done 2 and a half rows on the casa. Everytime I sit on the couch with the casa the cats come up and lay right in the middle of it. Anyway I put them under it last night so at least I could move it along as I sc the verticals when all of a sudden I heard this gnawing sound. My cat was having a munch on the blanket, now its one thing to gnaw at my curtains and make holes in them but not my blanket. He got tossed off the couch quick smart. Naughty pussy cat.
I put a row of purple around the yellow square I did the other day. I also made 4 small yellow squares, only 16 more to go, then sew them onto the big square. OK... FINALLY getting in here - what a DAY!
Had Dr.'s, bloodwork, another doctor's then errands, errands, errands. The GOOD news is that when going to Jo-Ann's to get the thread for my Viceroy (I ran out at the Dr's office), they still had clearance yarn. I had bought out the colors at the OTHER JoAnn's, but this one still had some of them. I bought 7 skeins of yarn and my spool of thread for $10. What a deal!
Got some Daisies done, but it started pouring at soccer, and DD and I huddled while watching DS.
Rox - I first read your post and thought you said your BF went to bed in a STRAP, and I thought "Wow, WAAAAY too much information!"... I assume a "strop" is a BAD mood?!?!?
Julie - everyone has taken all the good songs...here's one "Song Sung Blue" by Neil Diamond... it's the oldest one that popped into my head.
Hi, My name is Amy, and I'm a Book-A-Holic.
Why does the Rag Shop have to be right next door to the AC Moore??? Of course I had to stop in because they are going out of business. All the books were 70% off. So what did I do? I bought...
I spent way too much. But I did get a cool dye your own yarn and knitting set (shown on the left) for $2.50.
Then I walked to AC Moore to get what I really needed. I got another ball of wool for the purse. It will probably be finished tomorrow then, except maybe the felting part.
Hi Ladies -
I'm a newbie jumping in here. Trying to catch up on all those UFO's. My husband and I recently moved back to NY. I've finally unpacked and sorted all the yarn. Anyway, during the packing/unpacking stage I "found" projects that I totally forgot about:blush . I've frogged some, and made a list of the others that I really need to get moving on. At this point it's a bit overwhelming. I'm hoping this thread will make me a bit more focused and help me complete some of these projects.
With that said...here's my progress for today:
15 small grannies for Project Linus =15
2 rows on Lauren's afghan 2x5= 10
post =1
Using the color purple =5
So if I've done this right I have 31 points for the day.
Welcome Jen! You've come to the right place!
Great job on the points today Cara! I have not done much today. I did buy 5 notebooks at Wal-Mart for crochet things and rewrote my journaling into one. Still none of the yarn I need at HL guess I'll have to make a trip to the rich side of town they have plenty of it. I think it's cause they all go to the high dollar shops instead of HL :lol
I did learn today that the "I love this yarn" will be having 18 more colors to choose from in the next 6 months or less. I can't wait I really love that yarn :lol
I have had a great day crochet wise. I have done 3 rows on the casa and I have just redid my tunisian and done 5 rows on that.
Morning guys !
Wow, Wendy
it sounds like you have cranked out some major work . The Tunisian must be getting a little easier for you now, huh ?
Glad you got the hang of it . :)
If you are like I get when I have an afghan that close, I bet you are REALLY getting antsy to finish up the Casa .
and Judy- how are you liking the progress so far on your quilt ( with Leslie's pattern ) .
I plan on doing one too once the WB is done.
I am now working on putting block 8 together . Cam was here last night so I didnt get as far done as I thought I might, but it's ok . I like spending time with him . :manyheart
Morning, Wendy and Julie!
Wendy, I'm glad to hear the tunisian is coming along for you! I have a simple, 45 st heart graph I'll start next week...there are 2 more I want to do - a Germ shep one I was "gifted" and a simple, black silhouette, amish buggy pattern. Figured I'd get the hang of the color change FIRST before trying anything big.
Julie - I'm finishing a comfortghan and then I'll be able to add to the 2...yup, only 2:eek... squares I've made from Leslie's purple and green pattern. I love the colors...I've also already clipped off some of the neutral from the variegated yarn (watercolor) I'm using in place of the light orchid. Great colors to work with!
Julie glad to see that you nearly have block 8 done.
Judy yes its probably easier to have a small pattern to start this tunisian with. I was doing the cats rule patterns which had 130stitches but have now reverted back to the original dolphin pattern that only has 80 stitches. Also being in light blue instead of dark green really helps too.
Morning All-
I have some company coming today so I thought I'd get up early and finish up the two large squares I was working on for Project Linus.
I've now added them to the box. :clap My idea is to keep making squares and start joinign them in Sept. and (hopefully) finish a few blankets at the local Blanket Making Day.
Movie: Lethel Weapon.
I'm hoping to get some more crocheting in before the company comes...but I have to finish cleaning and cooking first. :no So we'll see.
Happy crocheting everyone!
I'll spend more time on the Ducky today but I think I shall also work up hook cases. I don't have the calendar pattern so I'll have to make one up but I think I can probably figure something out :yes
Looks like the board is coming to life this morning. If it looks anything THERE like it looks here, it'll be a hard day to get woken up and moving . It's real grey here this morning and kinda cold --maybe around 50 something right now, although it's supposed to shape up and be a nice weekend .
Judy- you and me may have CLOSE to the same colors, although not exact. I am going to use lavendar, sage, aran and linen as my 4 colors and am doing Leslie's around the world, so we may have a little different looks .
Yea, some of these sign avatars may be a little tricky to see. I had to change mine about 4 times to get one that you could see the reading on .
Well, off to get more done on the WB .
Will check in later . :)
Good Morning everyone!! I am sooo glad it's Friday. I think I'll only be working a few hours tomorrow...I'm tired! :yawn But I'm still really backlogged at work.
I haven't gotten much done the last couple of days, crochet wise....but work has been kicking my butt. (Gotta work to support the yarn addiction!). I did manage to get about 6 rounds done on Mom's tote last night, start another tote for myself (10 rounds), and finish up part of a bikini top for a co-worker (10 rows). So I guess that leaves me at 26 points for yesterday. Not too bad.
My answer to today's question: The Naked Gun.
I'll post pics later...after I get some more work done AT WORK! :D
Julie what is Leslie's around the world. Have you started a new project.
Cara cant wait to see the ducky.
I would have had some pics too but the battery in the camera needs charging.
The toy swap has started and my partner is a lady in Western Australia which is great. I wouldnt have a clue what to make at the moment. She has a 4 year old girl that has the Dora doll, maybe I could make some clothes for it. I could use some of Darski's patterns.
Kathy, I hope you are feeling better soon.
Krystal what a great deal at Jo-anns. We don't have any of those near us.
Becca, I'm sorry your not feeling good. I hope the infections clear up soon.
Amy, I'm the same way with pattern books. I love them. It looks like you got quite a nice selection yesterday though.
Welcome to the group JenC. It sounds like you did the posts right. Congrats on getting so much done yesterday :cheer
Cara, great job on the points.
NiYa, my oldest learned that song in school last year. Boy did it drive me nuts listening to it all day every day. :lol I'm sorry about your vest.
Heather, that's great that you got a notebook and condensed your journaling. I need to go get me a notebook still. I just haven't gotten to it yet.
Wendy that's so awesome you are halfway done:cheer I hope you have enough to make it too. I'm glad the tunisian is going easier for you now.
JenC stole my movie, now I have to think of another. hmm :think Congrats on getting two squares done so early today.
Cara, I'm wondering the same thing about what's under arnold.
Wendy that's great I bet she would love some Dora clothes.
Okay my movie pic is American Pie.
I finished up three small toys. One for the swap and two for Jenni's boys. :D I'll post pics in the next post though since this one is looking like a novel already. :lol
Leslie's pattern photo is on post 3850 of Crochet-a -quilt. She has some others too, but I don't have the post numbers for them. Cara has one listed on her page too .
I havent started it yet, since it is small squares too . I didnt want to lay down the colors I am doing to start new ones, or it'll be harder to come back and finish my WB-- it comes first, then I can pick up my new colors !
I'm actually FINALLY gonna use some purple. :)
Judy- I agree, I like dark borders for the quilts myself . And I don't blame you for choosing the one-color pattern. They are less time-consuming than the 2 .
Wow, Donna- impressive ! You are getting the hang of this posting now-- you answered 14 comments all in one post ! :lol
My plan for today is to finish the strap and back panel for the Music Purse, then stitch it all together. If I'm feeling up to it, I might throw it in the wash for some felting!
I'd also like to finish the yellow and purple baby blanket and some accessories for the swap.
Alright I think I have the pictures ready. Here they are.
Here is my tunisian. It's not much but next week I should have the other color in it.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/eagle7-18.jpg
Then I made a friend a hook case. It's the same color as mine. She loved the chococherry so much she wanted one too.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/chocohookcase.jpg
I needed a stitch marker case to match the hook case so I made one up. I changed the pattern a little so it holds 30 instead of 20.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/chocostitchmarkercase.jpg
My woven blocks so far. It doesn't include the squares from last night though.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/WB7-18.jpg
My baby blanket from last fall that I am just piecing together now. I had to stop though because I'm running low on the white.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/pinkcheckered.jpg
The teddy for the toy drive that KristieMN is doing.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a371/Donna_G/photos/blog%20stuff/pinksecretkeeperbear.jpg
And finally my single crochet gopher graph. It's really coming along now. I like it more each time I work on it.
Then because it was started because of the Sky Cal, I jot down post #'s I want to go back and look at for either a nice compliment, funny story, photo of something I like...I think one of my first entries has something about pirates and planks in it and why I like this group.
In the end, I hope to turn it into a scrapbook complete with photos.
Thanks Krystal. I like it, too. I think it's going to be on the small size as I only plan to add dk blue and dk plum for the next 2 ribbons. Then black squares for the border. If I do another like this I'll do a 3 rnd granny instead of the 2 rnd ones.
This week I've not gotten alot done on it as I've traded in my hook for a putty knife. Getting the house ready for the new tenants.
Sherri - I love that you wrote about the pirates and the planks in your journal :rofl And turning it into a scrap books is a great idea.
In my journal, I just write down what I've completed for the day and the points to the right side. I also write down what row I start and finish o if applicable. For the music notes I made, I wrote the pattern in my journal.
I haven't picked up my hook yet today, unless you count picking it up and putting in in my bag. I'll probably do a few yellow blocks and maybe make a bear. Then the Music Purse! Right now I want to work on something that doesn't take much energy (mind or body), so squares it is!
I'll put some pics up later...I've put most of the pics I had up already throughout the week!
Ok pictures.... I am only going to put up links because of the size and we have no photo editing software on the laptop. The first one is Danny's RR I only have one more row of orange then the two rows of orange and green then 2 rows of green and then 2 rows of green and yellow then 8 rows of yellow and the edging and I am done.
Here is the ripple scarf that I made for the auction, it is a great pattern just annoying cause I wanted it to be done fast and it took forever it seemed :lol
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v334/jkent721/?action=view&current=ripplescarf_0001.jpg
And here is the shot of some of my yarn, I still have two medium sized totes and a huge rolling tote that can fit me and my two boys in it full of yarn upstairs. This is mainly scraps and stuff I was given through freecycle, I still have to sort it and find it a nice plastic home :lol
The rest of what I have been doing this week has been Knitting for the toy swap but hopefully the knitting will be done by tomorrow night and then I will be able to work on blankets and crochet stuff and of course more toy swap stuff.
Afternoon all. Went to PO this morning took 1/2 hour to mail all my things - Sheesh. Then to the bank. I rolled all of our change, so deposited $345. Trying to make sure I have as much money as possible on trip. Came home, cleaned out car, started packing - had all of my summer clothes and and eliminated as I went.... Still doing laundry. Have to decide what I am taking to crochet. Not leaving till about 3 tomorrow - so excited!! Cheching out what's up on here. Lots of great pics on profiles - I added one too.
Krystal-That basket looks wonderful and huge!!
I sorted all that yarn and put them in the extra large ziploc bags (ya know the big ones that they show caring like 10 sports balls) and then when I got all 4 of those filled with the scraps and partial skeins I realized I had a whole other tote that I didn't even pull out and sort but oh well. No more room in those bags so I guess they will just have to live in the tote :lol
Great work ladies!
Here's what I've got, that I haven't shown yet this week. Maybe I'll post some others later tonight.
This is the blanket I started at the movies. It was gonna be all yellow, but I found this cool purple that looked good with it, so it's got purple too! I'm still attaching the little squares, then I'll probably do a round in purple, then a couple in yellow with the last skein. Then maybe purple again if I've got any left.
Ya' think my yarn stash is big - you should see our books. Both hubby and I are avid readers. So are his mom and sis. So we have hundreds, yes, hundreds of books, in boxes and stacked on bookshelves. Plus I'm a teacher so I have professional books and books in crates in the basement for my classroom. The only other thing we have alot of are CD's. Hubby owned a store. My mom's whole side of the family are packrats and unfortunelty I also inherited the gene.:eek
Jenni - Love the colrs in the RR
Sheri - Your WB is beautiful, I love the colors
Cara - Love the Just Ducky so far. I really need to try one of those ghans, they are fantastic.
Krystal - Great basket!!!! Have fun filling it. Is the Viceroy thread? I think it looks like Einstein under Arnold. The daisies pop with the black - can't wait to make my own!
Wendy - WHat does your sign say?
Donna - Can't wait to see more of the Tunisian. What yarn brand is Chococherry? I really love it. Great hook and marker cases.
Rox - LOVE the dragon bookmark! Where did you find the pattern?
It started off as baby snow dragon oldbaglady's pattern, was making it as a mothers day gift, but looked a bit deformed so just shoved it into a bag and left it.
Decided to re-do the body, arms, legs and spines, but couldn't frog it as sirdar blur wont. So just kept the head and threw away the rest.
sorting out WIP's and decided that I wont have time to re-do so thought about what I could do with the head and book mark just popped into mine.
The rest I just made up as I went along, cut some ears out of felt re-did eye lids added some sparkle and beads.
When I get some free time will write out what I did, as long as oldbaglady has no objections with me using her dragon head pattern.
Julie - points?? Where do I fall for the bathing suit. I have actually completed 229 rows, but some are very small rows and some are much longer. What do ya' think. I also completed 4 ornaments for the ornament swap, althoug I neglected to take pics before I mailed them this morning. So where do points fall for that???
I have, without the project points - 75 for the week.
It's funny, when I joined this cal I started keeping a crochet journal. I actually have two. One I use to work out projects, write down yarn, jot notes as I go. The other I write about what I've crocheted. I have taped in the addys of the gifts I've been Elf'd and any cards received. It's kinda of like a scrap book. I keep something similiar for school called a "Writer's Notebook." I have my kids keep one too.
I can't go three weeks without crocheting :hook (even if I don't do it, knowing I have the yarn in the car, while I am :drive ). "Oh" he says. "Make something for your mom." So I have been looking at patterns :book and pulling yarn:yarn to find something for my mom. Also pulled out yarn and pattern for a shawl I bought awhile ago. SParkly pink yarn for a scarf for niece and several other yarns. Still haven't quite decided what I'm making for mom:think ......
Tammy - There's a HL in Florence SC at 2357 David H. McLeod Blvd which looks to be right off 95. That's the only one I see so far.
My tote....this one I started and frogged about a dozen times before I found a yarn from my stash that I was happy with! :sigh
And the dreaded bikini top for a co-workers clubbing adventures. (Well...at least one cup anyway!) I am NOT happy with the way this is turning out. I'm probably going to scap it and start over. :P
Good evening again. I'm proud to announce that I parked my butt on my side of the couch and stitched together and attached another row :clap :clap . Hubby and stepdaughter are out at the local B&N waiting for their Harry Potter book, so I've had a quiet evening to catch up.
Been a lonnnnnnng week, ladies. Moving son to his "new" college apartment in Richmond tomorrow, so I'll really be ready to park here again in the evening. Enjoy your weekend, I'll be checking in as I can.
Tammy - If you can spare the time, stop at the Knit With in Philly. http://www.theknitwith.com/ My boyfriend took me there to show me all the lovely yarn they've got. It doesn't look like there are any Hobby Lobby's until you get further south than Virginia though.
Woohoo! I got some more rows done on the Music Purse!!! Well, I'm still working on the strap. I ended up taking apart the front panel from the flap to make it easier to continue with the strap, but also because the seem for the strap would have ended up in a weird position.
Time to write in my journal and add up my points for the day.
Well, I finished bordering my remaining Daisy squares, and I have two rows joined together... :cheer
I just wish I weren't allergic to cats. Joining these squares is brutal for me - you have NO idea how many people that send these squares have CATS!!! But, no pain, no gain, right?
I earned myself 29 points today! AND I'm caught up with my viceroy! Whoopie!!!
Yea!!! 7 more rounds for me tonight! Which brings my weekly total up to 73! Hopefully I'll have a little bit of down time this week-end. I've got to go into work for a few hours tomorrow morning (in about 6 hours to be exact! :eek )...and I Have to pick up the new Harry Potter book on my way in. Then I really really need to get to the gym after work...i can take my book!
Hopefully I'll have some hookin time tomorrow evening. Although considering the lack of sleep I'll get tonight...it will probably be an early night for me! :tired
Hope everyone has a good night!!!
Well, another day in the rat race, huh ?
Anyhow the computer seems to be functioning ok right now. We have a pretty good Internet company that rarely ever messes up, but once in awhile, they have a day like yesterday that it will work for about 12 seconds, then just SIT and do nothing . I hope it's fixed though.
What a frustrating day to have that happen on Photo Friday. I have gone back through to look at all the progress ,and wow, you guys have all done some beautiful work this past week and are doing so well staying on task, tallying your points and getting things done !
Round of applause for you all ! :applause
I have enjoyed seeing the new avatars - and also the funny things you added to your profile pages .
See, guys, we aren't just a boring gang of ladies with a ball of yarn and a hook, we are a pretty doggone funny group of ladies who like to laugh and goof off, but we are also "Masters" of the art of crochet .
What could be better than that ?:manyheart
Good morning Julie and Wendy!
Hey, Wendy - what color scheme are you doing Leslie's TAW with? I have to stick with the RHSS in dark orchid, watercolor, aran and med thyme, since I alrady bought it. But the one with black - wow! I'll be looking forward to working with my stash to make that one!
JulieKay
July 21, 2007, 07:34 AM
Thought I'd drop in here early today and get the point tally items up in case the computer fizzes out on me again -so here goes :
1- Today's color is any VARIEGATED yarn . If you are using variegated today, you get 5 points.
2- I'm gonna go ahead and give the post number NOW to see who can scramble to get it in time -
# 5289
3- Today's Question - Name a famous person with a one-word name.
I'll go first - CHER .
Happy crocheting. I am now working on block 9. HOPE to get it done before the day is over .
Hi Judy and Julie.
Im busy with some squares at the moment. Have done 28 of them today now just putting them together while I wait for you guys to wake up over there.
Judy I was going to use my caron brites yarn but I dont have black or white to do leslies ATW. Does the brites yarn come in black and white .
JulieKay
July 21, 2007, 07:54 AM
Morning Judy !
Yea, Leslie just keeps punching out those designs, and as quick as I choose one, she punches out another . I am having a time trying to decide now . I bought the yarn yesterday to do the ATW in the purples and greens ( I don't think it's the same exact pattern as you ) ,but wow, that one with the brites is so pretty too .
SO, I am debating now on whether to return the other yarn and go with the brites and black.. not sure yet .
I WAS looking forward to finally making an item with purple, so I am undecided .
As long as it takes me to get one done, I can't get too many " on the burner", because I may not be around long enough to finish 817 more of them .:D
July 21, 2007, 08:02 AM
Wendy, I haven't seen the brites in black - or white, come to think of it. The Michaels I go to most of the time, though, has too many varieties of yarn but limited color choices in each variety sometimes.
Julie, I've been wanting to use purple and green (reminds me of my yard, the catmint plant - think that's its name - in particular) so I'll stick with the one with the dark orchid border. THEN the black one!
Aussie
July 21, 2007, 08:02 AM
Julie I quite like the purple one too. I do know that all those black squares will be so hard to do as its hard to see.
I'm not Julie...but you're right: They are hard to see, but the brighter colors next to them should help - I've made some black squares and really love the dramatic look - and I don't mind making "saltines" at all - or weaving in the ends! The result is worth it to me!
Call me loco:P :)
Judy sorry about that... hehe.
Not sure what to do now. If you cant get black and white in the brites it means either doing another pattern or using different yarn.
Wendy, I just checked a couple of sites and why not just get the Caron SS in black - and the rest Brites? It should still be the same weight.
I'll probably be stopping in Michaels within a few days (my goddaughter has a new bedroom that is crying out for a ghan:lol ) so I'll see if they have the regular black in the SS (they should) and compare the texture to the Brites and let you know how it looks.
Aussie
Judy the brites yarn gives off a bright look and I put it against my black acrylic yarn I have here and I guess it would be ok but not sure if when put together it would look odd.
I know - the RHSS black is not at all like the Brites - but the Caron SS might work because they're both SS. I'll give it a look - otherwise there are lots of very bright RHSS colors out there to pick from, too.
It's a relaxing day - DH will be pulling weeds:D while I crochet:) . Off to an early dinner at Applebee's later (they have a Weight Watchers section in their menu;) ). The weather has turned comfortable and NOT humid! It's days like these that help get me through the summer - my LEAST favorite time of year. Maybe I can take our pup:lol (you'll see a pic of him in the Circle album...and know why I put LOL there) for a walk - finally. It's been way too uncomfortable - even dangerous - to do much outside.
We may end up near Raritan Bay, where we can see the NYC skyline, or Colts Neck township, where there is a pond with geese and a horse fenced in nearby (must remember carrots this time).
Tomorrow is a trip to NYC and the museum - an exhibit of Greek and Roman art. My request...need a NYC "fix" - haven't been in for ages!
Well I was born in 1964 and you would think that they would have been into the beatles or something like that but no they were stuck in the 50's. Bing Crosby, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra:yuck Hubby's brothers are the same, they are a lot older than he is and so there is a generation gap in music between brothers. Weird I reckon.
