Hello, I do have a meeting this later morning so will be gone for a few hours today. Good luck with your bag and slippers!

Okay I am back from my meeting. DH drove so I was able to make 2 squares for the bag. Tension was a little off on one, so may end up not using it.
Idler 1 is preparing and traveling on a cruise. (Have a great trip Laura!) I hope your hooks get to go through without any delays!

Craftygirl: Cora - I hope you have been able to start your honeycomb purse. Thanks for the link. I have it bookmarked to look at in more detail later. It is very pretty!

Kidget29 - Kidge - I did not see where Amy added you, but did see your request to be on Team Accessory, so I will go ahead and include you! Good luck with your Hook holder. (I bookmarked that one too to check out in more detail later. It looks really neat!)

Thank you for the kind welcome Carla.

I have had this pattern for a while (it was a wonderful gift in a swap)
I have picked out my yarn and finished all my other projects, so as soon as I get home (from work) I can begin.

Good Luck Team Accessories!
Thank you Nancy for your support.

Good Morning Team -- I have been trying to catch up on all the posts in the other teams. So good that we have so many participating in the games!

Kidge -I hope you were able to work a little on your caddy. I made a caddy for myself about 5, 6, or was it 7 years ago. LOVE IT. Mine was based off of a Prisilla Hewitt pattern that I altered for my use. Hers uses yarn and I made mine out of thread. The pattern you picked out is a lot more pretty and sophisticated. I may need to do it someday. :lol Just what I need another WIM.

I have made 7 squares of the 16 and am almost done with number 8. I will take pictures after I am done with all the squares to post later.

Laura -I certainly hope your Alaskan cruise is great. I remember seeing that you were packing your crochet. Have a safe and productive trip!

Cora -How is your honeycomb purse going? Have you been able to start it yet?

Well I still haven't figured out how to type and crochet at the same time, so I will check in later.

In the mean time .... :cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheerGO TEAM GO !!!!! YEEEAAAAA TEAM! :cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer

Okay, I have 9 squares done and working on the 10th. We have a BDay party to attend, so I need to stop to get ready. If I am not to tired I will check in after we get home. ,DH is driving, so I am taking my crochet. I have a first communion to attend tomorrow, so will not be able to get much done until later in the afternoon. :whew But since I am ahead of schedule, I should be okay.

Good luck to everyone on their projects.

We can do it and get the GOLD! Goooo Team!:cheer:cheer:cheer:clap:clap:cheer:cheer:chee r

Okay I have 12 squares done. The four I just finished are my own design. However, They are an angel, and the angel will be on an angle when assembled in the bag so I may have to save them for a different project :P Well it's late so I am going to call it a night.

I have decided to see if I can make 16 of each of the full square (http://www.halfknits.com/patterns/basic-square-in-the-round.htm) and corner chain square (http://www.crochetmemories.com/archive/square.html)to make 2 bags. I believe the pillow case will be able to line both (we will have to see).
If I have enough time I will make more and make a rectangle tote with the angel squares.

Cosmo we appreciate your support, just watch the :mdust, as too much might make one's nose itch. :devil

Hello, all! I am Crystal and I live in Arkansas. I found this site and gladly joined the games last week. I am just checking in to let you know that I bought my yarn yesterday for my felted purse but I still don't have a pattern. I purchased Bernat Felting in English Rose and treated myself to a new hook (one of the Bates hooks w/ the smooth, round wooden handle). I think I will do a round bottom purse, leave 2 rows for draw strings and a row if bobbles around the top. I have made purses in a similar fashion but I have never felted one, or anything for that matter!

I already know I am going to "cheat" and make my draw string straps w/ my drill. I take 2-3 strand of yarn in about double (triple if felting???) the final desired length, tape the ends together, insert one taped end into my drill chuck and tighten it down. Having someone else hold the other end, turn the drill on and let the yarn tightly twist. When you stop the drill and remove the yarn, the cord will twist upon itself doubling the breadth. This works great for cord! And is much less monotonous than crocheting a 3-4 stitch LONG handle.

Good luck all. Lets have some fun!!!

Carla J
August 10th, 2008, 08:28 PM
It's great to have you crycop. If you don't have anyone available to hold the other end while you operate the drill, I have heard to tie the other end to a doorknob and that will act as the other person holding it. There are some Felted totes/purses and bags at http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/bags_totes_purses.php.

Good Luck!

Go Team Accessories Go! :cheer :cheer

P.S. I now have 13 squares of full square (http://www.halfknits.com/patterns/basic-square-in-the-round.htm) toward my bag and am almost done with 14. (Had to take a dinner break and check out what was going on at the ville) With ville perusal, it takes me about an hr to make 1. Without ville perusal and concentrating on the square, it takes me about 20 min. Hummm, somethings got to give here as I :heart my ville! :lol

Sorry! Well, I may have dropped a little extra dust ,:mdust but it's only because I saw Denzel Q. Crocker hanging around your yarn basket and was hoping to counter-act anything he may have done to cause knots and tangles. :Hi Marika and Nancy. Thank you for the support!

While the 'puter was doing the scan last night, I had joined 4 squares together with a different color yarn. I didn't like what it looked like. Since I am using DH old stash, I rummaged around and found another skein of the same color I am working with. :woo hoo

So this morning I :frog ed the joins this morning (only 3 where done) and already have started rejoining them in the same yarn. :woo :cheer

Heah Cos if you see Denzel Q. Crocker around my yarn again -- let him know he needs to teach me how to purl better, as I got the knitting stitch and drop stitches down!:devil

Thanks for the link, Carla J. I found a purse pattern! Here it is...

I plan to do a little more fun work above the drawsting--a row of bobbles to top it off.

I've had a minor set back. Not sure what is going on I am following the pattern for the caddy and my tension is good but it really looks horrid.

In the direction it says it was made with Cotton but says it can be done in WW also. I just got the side pieces done and instead of being flat and square they look like butterfly wings.. just really disappointed. :( I have checked all my numbers twice (No mistakes at all) I am not sure what is happening.

So I am starting over to see what happens.

:woo :woo

My bag is sewn together and "lined". Using lined loosely. Just the straps and edging.

I don't think I will make another one of these. My hands hurt from the sewing and weaving in ends. I think I am going to stick to regular rectangle bags/totes in the future. I'll show the pictures when I finish the rest.

Carla J
August 11th, 2008, 08:36 PM
Okay, the bag is assembled (took pictures before I "lined" it) and I have made 2 straps. One is attached to the bag now. The other I need to attach. Know I need to let everyone know that, I is hard for me to have the tension the same on straps. Squares are not a problem, just those long chains and sc back. Usually one is longer than the other. I have simply amazed myself, and have 2 straps the same size. No applause please as I am sure it is the :mdust that cos and wanda have shared. I just need to attach this second strap to the bag and edge the top and straps.

Carla J
August 11th, 2008, 10:45 PM
Okay I finally finished the bag and I am waiting for photobucket to upload the pictures of the bag before straps and lining and the finished project. I honestly did not think I would actually be able to do the bag this fast. But the marathon Sunday night helped.

Now I need to post the :photo here and untangle the mess at the end of this skein.

Hello, I have slowed down a bit as sore hands and errands that needed to be done. I have made 8 more of my hidden angel squares and joined them with the other 4 I had already made. Here is a picture of when they were just joined horizantally, but have since finished the vertical joins for the one side of the tote bag.

I am almost done with another square and have decided that I will make 24 squares, 12 for each side. It will a plain strip for the short sides and bottom. I rather liked the strap pattern from the other bag I made so will use that for this tote. I may do something simular for the next tote if I have time.

I have gotten side tracked! I've not been able to start my purse because my pseudo-daughter (friends middle child) is heading to college in less than 2 weeks and has requested an afghan for her dorm room. I have put aside my own desire for a felted purse to work on her afghan...a labor of love. Is there a chance I can finish this, start and complete my goal of a felted purse before the 24th???? Maybe you could put in the Athletes thread that you are switching your project to the 'ghan and have the felted purse your personal goal. I think we all understand.

There is someone on Team HAP or is it FA that makes premie blankets for their local hospital, and posted that there was a little one that wasn't doing well. As a special request from the hospital staff, she was asked to do a blanket. She said her games project would be on hold until the blanket was done.

Both your requested projects are "labor of love" and I think we all understand.

But I have decided to keep making the extra totes as my own personal challenge along with those that have not completed their projects. Since I have been :cheerleading the other Teams all along (haveing to much fun with that too) I am going to continue to do so.

P.S. I have found our Team's gorgeous masseur, Sven, had been lured away by Cos's :mdust. He has recovered and is available for our fellow teammembers. Yaaa! :)

As the demand for massages increased, we had to call in Sven's sister for extra help. Here is teammate already receiving their turn.

Those projects look amazing!!

I'm so happy with my purse! I started it and pulled it out so many times over the past several months. I bought the yarn in November, and the lining and zipper not long after that. I finally just went with a simple stitch and kept going. I definitely like it! Now I have a purse that is better for dressing up (my other one is rainbow striped) and still holds everything.

Here's my lining that I'm most proud of. I love the little rosebuds!

Here's my embellishments. The red flower and the one on the purse are Yarncat's patterns.

That looks great! What a neat idea for a tote bag. It's so nice to have projects finished and ready to use, isn't it?

I got it started, however I was unable to finish it. It was nuts, the instruction are not clear and I was unable to find anything that explained it even better. I could not tell where the cable was supposed to go or the cluster.

It was frustrating and is now hibernating until I can figure out what I how to work this stitch.

That is why when I design a pattern I make it so clear a child can understand it.
