I packed up what I had been working on, and it will be a tangles mess when I pull it back out, because my husband didn't want to see it in the living room while I was working on this project!! Don't blame him. There is a lot of yarn for what I am making (an Ohio State graph ghan for a friend of his).

I am totally ready. Can't wait to see how my afghan comes along.
What is everyone doing?
I am doing a Carebear afghan. The background is crochet and the Carebear "Funshine" will be cross stitched in. I have 110 going acrose and 158 rows going down OMG oh and that 158 don't include the border. A lot to try to get done. So I will be starting Friday morning. I think I will get more done on Saturday and Sunday just have to sit back and watch tv probably some Lifetime movies. :)
Good luck again.
Will be checking in to see how everyone is doing.

We are on our way now ladies. go Team Afghan!!!:cheer:cheer:cheer I'm doing the airy diamonds afghan (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38207&highlight=wedding+diamonds)from the leisure arts book. Its got 105 rows plus 2 rows of border, so i figured that with the 16 days I would have to do about 8 rows a day and i'm giving myself 2 days to do the tassels. I think thats doable...So ladies...I know I'm an hour and a half late...but lets get started....:clap :hook :crocheting :yay

I am already more frusterated then I could have imagined.
I am using the new Designer sport yarn from Red Heart for my afghan. I did not take it out and look at it much before hand. I also did not roll my own balls. I am having to just about gut the whole skein before I can find the pull end from the center of the skein. Gurrr.

i am thinking that i may only be able to work on it am /late pm as i am afraid it is going to get hot on my legs
but i have some smaller projects that i can work on midday, i expect to be able to finish by closing ceremony. the pattern works up faster that i anticipated( may have to edit this when i get to the second panel- join as you go is not something i do!)

...oh, and BTW...I hate the diamonds on my afghan. I hate making spiderwebs because i hate crocheting into chains...Hmmm, maybe thats something i should have considered, but I love the look of it sooooo much. Oh well, the things we women do for beauty...

Woo Hoo. I did it.
I have gotten over my dislike for this yarn. I am not having as much trouble with the last few that I need to dig for the end for. I decided to not take the time to wind the yarn. I am getting ready for octagon 3!! I have decided to make this afghan a bit larger then the orgional pattern calls for, this means 5 more octagons and 4 more squares then the orgional pattern. I am sure that I can still make it though.

Welcome Wendy glad you found us.
My game plan is a couple rows in single stitch then cross stitch those couple rows then single stitch then cross stitch. I think that works up better for me since I am doing a graph afghan. I was going to crochet the whole background but, I noticed that would take more time because then I would have to come back and count every single row and that just was going to stress me out right there lol.

I am home from work and will be able to take the baton from you. I will be crocheting this evening. My afghan has 130 rows. After I get going I should be able to estimate how long it will take me to complete.

Ok I thought I was going crazy for a few moments there......
I wanted to see how "Team Afghan" was progressing and normally I glance at the Avatar to see who is talking......I notice that Diane in Iowa is having problems with her yarn, Tam is the next post talking about the need to pass the baton due to issues with the satalite man & hubby, next post with the same avatar is talking about the yarn again....:think:think:think what is going on the baton has been passed again to who I wonder :think
After a few posts I notice that the avatar is the same for a quite a few of you and wonder :think how in the world is this happening......
Finally an answer on post 31.......;) Now I get it :lol look who is following the crowd???? Somedays it doesn't take the WHOLE day for me to figure things out :lol:lol:lol :D:D

I'm watching the opening ceremony, having a captain morgan & diet coke and working on my ghan! What could be better than that?
I'm on row 19 now too but that isn't as incredible as it sounds, I'm doing a diagonal ghan and so it goes fast at the begining.

Hi Ladies!
I started my afghan Twilight Tapestry around 8:30 after getting my 2 little ones into bed. The Opening ceremonies had started at 7:30 so I crocheted a bit while watching the rest. I have 4 panels to make then sew together. I have done 4 rows out of 66 I think it is. Not much accomplished as I was watching the TV, spent a little time working out, took a shower, made popcorn, etc. But I just wanted to check in and cheer everyone on!! I'm on my way to bed now. Night!

You ladies are alot of fun... I'm so pleased we have this team together on one thread... it gives us a chance to get to know each other better and have fun.

well, i knew this particular pattern would be a challenge, i do ok once i get my panel started ,have even come to grips with the join-as- you -go aspect, however i have to admit to multiple false starts, am on panel three (of 12 i think-depends on the size) and i STILL am frogging out as i can't seem to get the new panel started in a way that it will join up:angry
just when i threaten to start something different it FITS:think now if i could just figure out what i did:sigh
am not sure of my color combo either, but will plug along it may look better once i get to the third color will post a scan or something once i finish the third panel

Good morning everyone!
I finished up seven squares total yesterday. I don't know how much I'll get done today as hubby and I are going out of town to do school shopping and visit with a friend tonight. I might get one or two done, but it's not likely. At least I got a running start. It looks like getting the squares done is going to be the easiest part because I have no motivation to even think about starting to put this together.

Good morning ladies. Well. almost afternoon here.
I have been up for about 3.5 hours now and have not looked at my afghan!LOL Been getting some other stuff I need to do, although not all. My husband held the calculator last night and did the math when I told him how many squares and how long I had to get them done. He figures that I need to get 5 squares done a day. Being as I only got 4 done yesterday and tomorrow is Sunday and I know I will not have time to get 5 done tomorrow I had better get moving. I ***ured out yesterday that it took about an hour to get an octagon done.

Yep Tam I am doing the Carebear called "Funshine" I will post a picture later Sunday evening. So far so good. I have about 60 to 70 rows done so far. Just going back to do the cross stitching ever so often. So far almost done with the Bears head have about 6 or so more rows to crochet then cross stitch in order to be done with the head then I can get started on the body. But, for now off to sleep I go. Will be watching some more of the games tomorrow while I curl up in a ball and crochet and cross stitch. The pattern is easy its just that the cross stitching is also easy but, reading the graph is starting to get to my eyes lol, I am so used to just going with the flow of things but, it is looking nicely done.:)

:cheerCome on...you can do it. :cheer Just one square after another. Plop on the sofa and watch a nice tv show, and get it going. I know you can do it. Also, maybe you could fnd out how many squares you have to get done each day and use those as a smaller goal to keep yourself accountable. Good job, keep up the good work.

Good luck everyone.
Hi! I did cross stitch from about age 6 to 16. I still have some of my pattern books....so if I sc an afghan can I use my patterns and the sc's will be one block each or is there a size difference? I have a great book of Disney Mickey Mouse and the other characters my daughter would love!
Thanks and I can't wait to see pics!

I'm just about to start. Last night I got to row 8 (it's 200 V stitches long edit--it's 208 chains but only 67 V-stitches, lol) and my goal is to finish 1 of the 4 panels today. But with a 2 yo and 5 month old the stars need to align perfectly for me to get a few minutes to sit and crochet, lol. Good luck everyone!!!

HI Everyone,
I may be our first casualty! I get repetitive syndrome in my right hand and wrist when I crochet too much with out breaks. I figured I need to complete 10 rows a day to finish on time and there will be a few days I know I won't be able to complete that. I am going to work hard to pace myself and take small breaks frequently. I will post a picture later. I tried to get the Avatar for Team Afghan but it kept telling me the size was too big.
Sorry

I single stitch the background then I cross stitch the bear right on to the crochet single stitches.
It has been coming along great for this to be my third day on it I have to say it is coming along fast.
Not yet done with the head have about 5 or so more rows to go to finish the head then I can get started on the body of the bear. I also have to outline the hole bear in orange after I am done. It's hard work but, when I see this it does pays off.:)

I have 6 rounds left of my first panel. I'm on a round of puff stitches now but have to stop to make dinner for me and my DD. With hubby off to work for the night I am just throwing in a pizza and I cut up some fresh cantaloupe and a nectarine for us to snack on while the pizza cooks. Ohhh, this cantaloupe is soooo good!!!
Lesalicious....that Carebear is sooo cute!!! You are doing a wonderful job! The pattern book I have has the Wizard Mickey in it....Mickey handing flowers to Minnie, Dumbo, Pluto, Donald with Daisy, etc. I think it has the Seven Dwarves. I have quite a few of them done in cross stitch from when I was about 10 years old. Maybe I can pull those out later and get a pic. You are doing it a smart way, alternating sc and cross stitching...I don't think I could just sc the whole thing before starting the stitching. This opens up a whole new world for me!! I love learning new things. Do you use regular DMC embroidery floss ( I still have boxes of this that I use for stitching on cards) or yarn to do the stitching? How does it look on the back? Do the ends hide well? Sorry for so many questions.

Ask away. Well I didn't use DMC floss due that it's so thinner then the yarn and I see a lot of the off white background so I used yarn. Well on the back not what I wanted it to be its not hiding well. I am thinking about hand sewing some fabric on the back to hide all of my yarn ends. I am going to cut them down very short but, its just so messy back there so want to hide that the best I can.:)
Go ahead get out those cross stitch books. Shoot now this makes me want to go buy me some cross stitch books lol. :) thanks

Hey ladies!!!!!
I'm finally back from Dad's. 3 hours of driving, unpacking, making, eating & cleaning up after dinner and I'm finally ready to sit down and start crocheting today. I didn't have to do anything while I was at Dad's so I was totally rocking on my ghan.
I'm ready to add my second set of points. I'm doing a round ripple - I started with 6 now I'm at 12 and going for 36. It'll be queen size so I have no idea how many sets of points I'm going to need but I have about 6 pounds of yarn to use if I need it.
The ghans look beautiful so far!
I'll post a pic tomarrow. My hands are starting to hurt - I really hope I don't have to wear my braces to crochet. They slow me down.

Here's where I got to last night, not far. Hopefully I can get some done tonight.

I took Amber to the mall for her first 'I'm almost a teenager' shopping trip. We had so much fun! It was great!!! She got the cutest sunglasses to go with the cutest little outfit! I'll have to dress her up and take a pic of her later.

lolol nope - this one's MINE!!!!! Mine, Mine, all MINE!!!!!:yay
Dad's ok. He's hurting a lot. He lives in chronic pain with his back degenerating. He was in a car wreck a year ago that made it worse and now he's just trudging thru. I'll tell you - he's amazing. Nothing stops him. He's an awesome role model for living with chronic pain.
Hopefully, now I'll be able to get back to crocheting. Had to take the car to the shop. Hubby's home (it's his weekend and he has Wed off too! which is great cuz I didn't see him while I was gone) I have an awesome hubby!
Thanks everyone for the comps on the ghan. I'm loving the way it's coming out!

last night i worked my *** off staying up until about 3 am crocheting. I got to row 32 :yay!! I had to work so hard cause I knew I wouldn't be able to work at all today. Now that I'm looking at it though, it is alot shorter than I had expected.:eek :lol The woman who made it on here said it was too long so she shortened it, I decided that since my hubby is 6'5 I would need it as long as possible, and now tht I'm working on it, its still not long enough...I may have to make it wider and just change the orientation. I know for sure i will finish what the pattern asks for, but my new goal is to actually finish what we need:think...thats the real challenge.
But anywho...without further ado...here is my afghan
**note** since I can't figure out how to resize it I have to post links... If you know how let me know!!!

OK that is gorgeous. I bought the pattern for this from Annie's Attic and gave up before I added the points because it has errors. If you have pointers I would love some.
Fabulous Work!!
:hugI was able to finish off adding my points last night. YAY!!! As of right now - it's 34 inches point to point. Nothing like crocheting with your eyes closing lol.
I'm not following a pattern on this one. I actually made up my own 6 point to get started and just winged the added points cuz sewing them in is just way too tedious.
~ That diagonal throw is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Whew.......... a minute to post a bit about how I'm doing.
you all are doing great!!!
crochet_mommy........... Wow thats really pretty!!! ^5
kel........... hang in there ... we're here to take the baton if you need us to.. but slow and steady... you'll get your 'ghan done!
As for myself.......... I have been doing well.. I'm happy with where I am with these two prayer blankets. I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge because of the other commitments I have going on during The Games.. but I needed to do this in order to get things DONE. So...... this is where I'm at so far on the first blanket
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v333/teakaycee/KnitCrochetCreations/DCP02706.jpg
I have a swap to finish... and wish gifts to get done... along with charity squares that are needed out. Like I said.. I'm pleased with what I have done so far for the 'games' .... I will be done with this one soon and can start on the next! Best part... I will have two prayer blankets done for my challenge (http://coffeencrafts.blogspot.com/2008/05/challenge.html)
okay... back to work. I'm dealing with a horrible headache ... stomach feeling yucky and on and off pains in my chest.............. the whoas of getting older.
Keep up the good work team... we are doing GREAT

12 of 49 squares done so far and I just started on the 13. Hubby wants to go out tonight so I don't think I'll get any more done. We'll see. He also wants to finish up the season of Angel we're watching so I might get some done in between that.
Everyone's afghans look beautiful. I'll get a pic up of my squares when I find my camera.

OK.. Here is an updated afghan. This is where I wanted to be Sunday night instead of Monday night. Been a tough day though. I had to run my mom around and we found out this morning that my DH's dad had a massive cereberal (sp) Hemorage. We are in Iowa, he is in Florida. My DH had medical power of attorney though and we are on pins and needles every time the phone rings.

I've posted to the Let the games begin thread...
Got a little bit done but enough that the pattern is showing up nicely. I've done about 25 rows or so out of about 120. I don't know how big I'm making it since I'm not working off a pattern but figure about 8 - 10 diamonds horizontally. It has 11 diamonds across the width ending with the half diamonds. I'm using LB WoolEase in SportWeight. The color is Dark Heather Rose...I think
