I guess I am in.. I am making an outfit for a 3 mo. old! I have already started on the skirt and hopefully I can get that knocked out fast! Once I got started on it I hated to put it down! I am giving it to a friend of mine that is having a little girl. And the best part about it is...my daughter has a 3 mo. old..so I can try it on her for fit! ;) I know the only thing ...is once I try it on her..my daughter will want one for hers!!! It is a cute little outfit. A ruffled skirt, tank top and a bolero. It is absolutely a cute pattern and that is why I bought the book. But again there is 6 patterns in it and I like them all. I guess I will have to make a few of her pattern!

All in all...I hope the whole set comes out good! I am doing the skirt and it is coming along pretty fast.. and it seems to be the one that would take the longest to do..that is why I chose to make the skirt first! Well I have to get back to it!

Okay..all I have a slight problem... I am using Bernat Softee Baby yarn..for this pattern. Anyways it calls for Red Heart Soft Baby fine (sport) weight-2 fine..well bernat softee is a sport weight..but I am still crocheting on the skirt and I am on rnd..30..when it should have stopped on rnd 26..but if I stop there it is only 5" long when the skirt diagram..shows it should be 7 1/4". So I am going to keep going til I get it the length that I think it should be I have my little 3 mo. old gdd here now..so I will keep trying it on her til I think it is long enough. The only thing is ..it will have lots of ruffles.
So I know when I do the top and bolero..I will have to use a different size hook to try to get the guage!
Do any of you know if there is a difference in the weight of bernat softee baby sport and red heart soft baby sport? I have several little outfit..none from this book..and I have never had a problem..so I was just wondering if it is the name brand!

I got three more rows done yesterday...and the good news is I'm finally getting the hang of the round ripple so I think I'll be able to not look at the pattern anymore!!

I'm doing the color scheme kinda kooky....each night that I work on it, I only do one color...then the next time I work on it I switch. So each color will be different amounts of rows so hopefully it will look a little more "random" (I'm using scrap yarns)

:)

I was never added to a team that I know of, but I am making a baby afghan so can I be on this team? You may not want me if I tell you I haven't started yet! I plan to work on it tonight or tomorrow. I do have a full-time job and have several things going on in the next two weeks with my 2 kids, but I'll get this done! I also am making a very small blanket for my friend's preemie little boy. The blanket only has to be about 16" by 16" at the most. I need it to fit in his isolette at the hospital. Plus I am making a hat or two to match the blanket. Now to get crocheting!

Well as far as sport yarn..I looked at Red Heart Baby Soft and it said it was a 3..and in the book it shows it to be a 2-FINE... I have made several baby outfits and have never came across this situation...but I changed my needle size and got the gauge. It still looks good..the only thing on the skirt I had to add more ruffles..but all in all it still is a cute little skirt! My daughter loves it..so I will probably end up giving it to her..since her house got broke into a couple of weeks ago..and they took her childrens clothes along w/ her baby's mattress and her bed and other few odd and ends. Whoever did it is pretty low for stealing her kids clothes! But I am just glad she wasn't there and all of them are okay!

well, I got a couple rows done on my ghan today...... and picked up supplies for my next project.. the christening gown set that i'll probably start this weekend as well, can't have just one wip going at a time here.. and looked out the window and watched it rain.

The pattern is from Adorable Baby Clothes by Belinda "Bendy" Carter from Annie's Attic it goes to a size 12 mos. I wish it did go higher..I would make one for each one of my dgds. I have 6 and the oldest one is 7 and the littlest one is 3 mos. old. Crochetgarden.com has some beautiful patterns that are easy to make also..you can check out her website. And thanks all for the compliments! :)

I don't have internet at home right now, so I thought while I was in the computer lab I would stop in to say that I have most of the first half of my baby blanket done...it's going much faster than I planned, but that's okay, because it's also taking more yarn, and I have to wait for the store to get the color in again (I already took all of the color I'm using).

I'll post pictures if and when I get the internet at my apartment. And I still have to decide on a sweater to match.

Acabado, Finished, Done. :yay:yay With storm clouds rolling in and the smell of rain in the air I finished the little turtle tonight.
The round ripple worked up alot quicker then I thought it would, normaly I avoid picots their my least favorite stitch (not sure why) but I did a picot at the tip of each point on the last round and it really came out great.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/zeropixie/Crochet%20Projects/th_crochet082.jpg (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/zeropixie/Crochet%20Projects/crochet082.jpg)

The hat is my own design, nothing fancy just hdc with a round of long stitches in white and a round of green.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/zeropixie/Crochet%20Projects/th_crochet085.jpg (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/zeropixie/Crochet%20Projects/crochet085.jpg)

The turtle is the perfect size for little hands only six inches long and five inches tall.

Zeropixie, I LOVE the colors you used! Nice hat and cute turtle too!

I am happy to announce that I have finally STARTED my baby afghan! I'm the world's best procrastinator, so if it wasn't for these games, I would not have started this yet and the baby would probably be in elementary or middle school by the time I would have finished it!!

The blanket should go much faster than I initially thought. The pattern calls for sport weight yarn and I am using a worsted weight that is very fluffy, so it is even heavier than worsted weight. I am using JoAnn Fabrics' Sensation yarn in the variegated white and pastel colors. I plan to crochet all day Sunday, and watch movies too!

Awww, don't worry...I'm right there with you. I have about 4 rows done of this baby afghan pattern that I'm working on. I'm using a heavier yarn than the pattern calls for, but I like the yarn. I have to use a larger hook. I had to have a much shorter beginning chain than the original pattern called for. I think I've redone the first 3 rows about 3 times. I'm not crazy about this pattern, but I'll do it anyway. My girlfriend chose the pattern and I picked out the yarn (she was going to pick out the yarn but the baby was born at 26 weeks, so she's busy at the hospital with him). I hope she likes it. If not, I'll donate the afghan. I'm also making her many more blankets, some crocheted, and some sewn, some preemie size, some regular size, so she'll be happy with at least ONE of them!! :lol

Good luck to everyone!

When the games started I was in a real mess because I discovered at the last minute that the pattern I had in mind was not working in the yarn I had bought. Now, my usual style of crocheting is to start out with a hazy picture in my mind, and some inspiration from existing patterns. But this is not a good system when there is a tight deadline. I wasted so much time experimenting after the games had started, that chances of finishing on time are slim. I should add that I am using a very thin yarn, so the blanket is growing very slowly. I have got 20" done out of 30", and I also need borders, so let's see if I can make it to the finishing line!

Well, I'm unofficially competing with Team Baby, as I didn't get registered in time (didn't know what gender the baby is going to be until the last minute).

I'm making a pink baby afghan for my cousin's new little girl. I started on August 8, despite just starting to come down with a kidney infection. Well, things didn't go well from there. I worked on it over the weekend, but I kept messing up and frogging (I think the fever kept me from paying attention to the pattern - the antibiotic didn't work well, and I stayed very sick for 5 days - couldn't get very much done).

I finally got things right (I thought!) and made great progress from there. I had about 18 inches completed by August 16 and was working to get halfway done (22 inches) when I discovered I had made a serious mistake in each repeat of row 7. So I frogged the whole thing down to 3 inches and started again.

Needless to say, I don't have a lot to show for the amount of time I've put in, and it's very discouraging. I'm loving this afghan, and I'm looking forward to finishing it - but I was so hoping for GOLD! (Even if unofficially.)

I love reading all the success stories. KEEP IT UP, TEAM BABY! WAY TO GO!

My progress is better than I had hoped for. In fact, whether I finish in time or not this challenge has been an exercise in self-discipline for me. I have never worked continuously on only one project ever, and if I complete this by the deadline, it will be yet another first for me.

I feel the same way! I have a way of procrastinating until the last minute...which I did with this project as well, but I feel that I need to finish this on time for personal satisfaction! Kelley, thanks for the good wishes. I did, in fact, manage to finish before time, but it was a pointless achievement as far as the challenge is concerned because I just could not open my photobucket account. Since this has never happened before I did not know what to do, and since I din't have a pic album anywhere else, I realised that despite completeing it, I would not be able to post it.

I didn't finish! I crocheted until I fell asleep at 5 this morning! The blanket is only half finished! If only I didn't work full time, have 2 kids and 4 animals to deal with, then I could crochet all the time!
