Hello fellow team mates. Are we ready to start this exciting journey of toy making? I know my daughter is anxious for me to start her unicorn. Chomping at the bit, so to speak. (Bad pun, sorry :))

I just got home after running around all day but I came home with a big bag full of yarn. I'm going to be using Baby Bee Sweet Delight Baby yarn for the doll and ILTY for the mini rr.

I'm doing the rr in my secret pal's favorite colors (pink, yellow and blue) with matching variegateds. I may try to get started tonight (I hate that I'm already a day behind) but the longer I sit at this laptop the tireder I'll get.

I have half a leg done. I am working on a bag for the tote swap and I am almost done. Both are staring at me. A row and a half on the bag, then assembly. For sure I will get the legs done of the unicorn tomorrow. After the row and a half. We can do this team. Because we are awesome!

August 9th, 2008, 06:41 PM
I got ready to start last night and with hook in hand realized that I had overlooked the fact that I needed offwhite yarn. Just a small oversight considering that is the color I start with.

I was so mad at myself. So anyway, I went to HL today and got some ivory ILTY sport weight (I was so excited...they didn't have any when I was there yesterday).

Their color selection was limited so I wasn't able to get any in pink (which is the main color) so I'll stick with what I've got. Now, I think I can say I'm ready to get started.

I've got a lot of ground to make up. Hope everyone else is having better luck than I am. Go team!!! :cheer

Hi Team! My project falls under this category better than anything else. I'm making a Halloween kit that consists of a spider and web, a candy corn and a small pumpkin container. I tried making two different items yesterday and discovered my gauge was too big, so had to buy a smaller crochet hook today.

Hey all! Just checking in. I have the bottom half of the teapot done! Could have had more but I smoked my elbow of the plate that the door latches into (you know where the nubby part goes into when you shut the door) HARD and it's all swollen and very sore! But I can still crochet comfortably (PHEW!). Check back again!

I haven't been officially added to the team as yet, but have asked Amy to - I had said that I would do Dolls clothes, but hadn't specified how many.

I got back to her and told her that I would do one outfit/dress for each day of the olympics - How many would that be???

I have gotten of to a good start - even though I have a face that is swollen and has been since Friday because of toothache and infections - saw the doctor on Friday, and he put me onto antibiotics and stronger painkillers.

I have a small pile sitting on the lounge beside me as I work - the worst part - or at least the part that I hate is sewing the buttons or press studs on !! If it was up to me, I would crochet a dozen dresses rather that sew on one button/press stud. He He

Wow! Lots of hard work going on here. I have all the pieces of my unicorn (except the horn, but that's an add on and can wait a bit) done and ready to assemble.

That's going to be the hard part. I hate to put pieces together. It never fails that one piece won't fit the way it's supposed to and frustrates the entire project.

Then comes the stuffing, mane and horn. I had to take a break because I needed to finish my tote for my buddy in the purse/tote swap. All this work is making my hands go numb. However after a day or so of rest, which was really hard, I am back in the game.

Head, body and one leg are done on my doll. I'm working on leg #2 with the arms, bonnet and rr still to go. I said that finding time to crochet is what would make this a challenge and that has been accurate so far. I'm hoping to get more done over the weekend.

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Go team!!! :cheer :cheer

I have completed 8 dresses/outfits, so am on target so far (one for each day of the olympics).

Will try and take some photos over the weekend so that you can see what I have been doing. I think that it works out at 16 or 17 outfits?? Not sure. Can anyone clarify.

Well, I finished the amount of outfits needed to complete the challenge that I set for myself, and still have a couple on the go to complete over the weekend.:clap

I made a sleeper, 3 varigated dress using the same pattern as the plain blue one, simple sun dress by Nila in bright varigated cotton, cabbage patch party dress by MamaHooks, and a pile (12) Triple Ruffle Dresses by Megananne3.

I contacted Megananne3 to ask if I could sell the finished dresses at our Local Hospital Auxiliary Craft Fair in a couple of weeks, as I made a couple of these for my nieces and all their friends now want them - so I have made them and they will be sold on this stall to raise money for the new defibrilator that our little hospital (10 beds) needs. Her pattern really ROCKS and I have made it in various sizes to fit the different dolls in question (3 ply, 4 ply, 5 ply and 8 ply). I hope that she does design some more dresses because her pattern is easy to follow and to Jazz up by using different threads.

Those little cabbage patch dresses are so darn cute! My sister has been after me to try crocheted doll clothing, so maybe I will give it a whirl.

I chose my project because it was a new technique and I have finally gotten the hang of it. Finished crocheting the spider yesterday (just have to sew in ends and add eyes) and that darn web is coming out nice, but a difficult project for me. It's basically thick thread crochet, which is quite a challenge for me. I am determined to finish this web (currently 60% done) before starting on the easier part of the project (candy corn and small pumpkin).

Photo of progress. OMG! I have to be done by Sunday at 10 CST? Ouch!!
