I am pluggin away at my Double Wedding Ring ghan, remember I'm only doing it lapghan size, so it's only 49 pieces...yea ONLY 49 :rofl
I've decided on, Black, medium purple, a sagish green, and a soft white. All colors already in my stash, and I think they will just look really nice together.
I have to do 4 1/2 pieces per day for the first 11 days, then join 10 pieces per day for the last 5 days. I'll do more each day as time allows, but I think it'll be a good pace.
I have 1 of my pieces done so far for today, worked up in about an hr, but that was WITH interuptions, so should go smoother once kids are sleeping, :lol
Feels SO GOOD to have yarn running through my fingers.
I was wondering if anyone was interested in exchanging phone numbers, so we can chat as we go. I think toward the middle/end of this it might help... well should help me anyway :)

Ada, those colors sound really pretty. You'll have to take pics once we get going.
I've finished the center of my afghan almost up to the first set of inserts(it's the 6 pointed star afghan). Thank God I've made one before so I didn't have any trouble. :)

i am thinking that i may only be able to work on it am /late pm as i am afraid it is going to get hot on my legs
but i have some smaller projects that i can work on midday( borders on saltine grannys ),
i expect to be able to finish by closing ceremony. the pattern works up faster that i anticipated( may have to edit this when i get to the second panel-" join as you go" is not something i do!):hook

Still raining (and my poor schnauzer is going nuts.. she insists that it can't be raining out all of the doors to outside.. and when I open them to prove that it is indeed raining out THAT door.. she just looks at me as if to say.. why did you let this happen. LOL), but the thunder has stopped, so I'm back.
I got one square finished. I feel bad that I'm not taking on such ambitious projects as the rest of you.. until I start thinking about all that I need to do today to get ready for dd's visit.. and the possibility that I'll have to drive 3 hours to pick her up instead of 90 min. (she's had great difficulty making connections the last two times she's flown) and that we have 2 (maybe 3) doctor appts next week for her and then jury pool to get her out of.. etc. etc. and then I don't feel so bad.
Here's the one I've gotten done.

This is 4 of the 4 1/2 pieces I needed to make today to keep on target for the GOLD!!!
My 1/2 piece is going to be another white strip, since that is the piece I need to make the most of, I really don't want to get to the last few days of making pieces and ONLY have white pieces to make.... it would be boring, so I'm pacing myself a bit. Today I really wanted to make 1 of each of the 4 types of pieces I need for the project, to get a feel for what it entails. :yes
I'm feeling confident, and am about to go back to the couch and crochet some more!! I'll post again before midnight with my final total for the day.

Wow Ada! That seems sooooo hard. :eek You sure did pick a challenging project. I can't wait to see how they go together. :yes
Here's my progress so far. As you can see, Kaz decided to walk by just as I was taking the picture. The colors are rust, fall varigated, dk sage and ecru (I know it looks white in the pic). I was leery about the combo but I think it will be nice, expecially to auction in the fall.

well, i knew this particular pattern would be a challenge, i do ok once i get my panel started ,have even come to grips with the join-as- you -go aspect, however i have to admit to multiple false starts, am on panel three (of 12 i think-depends on the size) and i STILL am frogging out as i can't seem to get the new panel started in a way that it will join up:angry
just when i threaten to start something different it FITS:think now if i could just figure out what i did:sigh
am not sure of my color combo either, but will plug along-:( it may look better once i get to the third color
will post a scan or something once i finish the third panel

I'm up and trying not to be mad at ds who has trashed the bedroom that I spent boocoo $$ getting redone last summer during the middle of my nervous breakdown over having cancer.. grrrrrr.. good thing he's not home right now.
dd got to houston and has not (yet) missed her connection. dh is on his way to pick her up. she'll be surprised.. he usually leaves that joy to me. If for some reason her connecting flight is VERY delayed.. I get to go get her in H-town. Have done that the last two visits.. hopefully we're due for a good luck.
I have a basket of laundry to fold and a square to finish for another charity not in the Games then if the dryer hasn't buzzed, I can start another for FA.
Who am I going to send mine too as I won't have enough for an afghan.. who wants to be the lucky recipient? Would 12 8" squares make a lapghan?? Hmmmmmm. I dont do those much, so I'm not sure.

Hey ladies, I have another 1 1/2 white pieces done, and an octagon done (those are black) Now yesterday I joined as much of what I made as I could, and the process is a bit to take on. I'm thinking it's definitely the joining on this project that makes it rated a 4 of 4 on difficulty. I also think that I am going to try and continue to join them as they are completed, I'd hate to miss out on the gold because I couldn't weave in all these ends in time!! So, left for me to do today to stay on track is to finish the white section I have started, do another 1/2 of a white section, and complete 1 green section. That keeps me on target, but I think then I should at least join 2 completed whites to the green, but I have to work Today, Tomorrow and Monday, so maybe I'll join all the pieces I make the next few days on Tuesday when I don't have to work. I'm just not sure if waiting to join till the pieces are all done is going to end up being wise, but if I decide to join as I make the pieces then I need to re-work my plan.
I'm rambling I know, I'll post more later. Oh and I found a real life use for Algebra with 2 variables, and based on the equation I used to chart my progress. At the end of Day 1 I was 8.84% completed with my project! :cheer

Cherri, I used Lion chenille for the blue scarf. It's called Paris Print. I've never worked with chenille before and I was kicking myself when I started, but after the 1st couple of rows it got much better, lol! I really like the way it turned out and it is nice and soft!

I love to see the creativity of each member, I have a few squares done, but want to do at least two more before quitting for the day and going to rectangles. I told myself to work on squares until 3 p.m. each day.

Tracy- great work on the squares!!!
Ann- Love the colors on that scarf, great wristbands too!!!
Me, I have made some pieces but depending on how long work takes today I'm not sure if they'll be joined or not today, but I have 2 more octagons, and eye and 3 white sections. 1 more eye and 1 more white section and I'll have all the pieces made I need to close the first "square" and attach this purple piece I have here taunting me saying "ha ha you can't do anything with me yet". I swear it blew a raspberry at me this morning :laughroll
Lucky for me I work from home, this week that is also my curse because I can see my yarn from my work station, and I wanna put off the work until I've finished more on my project.... :devil

Lisa, I'm hoping that square is a freebie too! Very pretty! They're all great!!!
Wish I could oblige ya'll.. but it's not in the public domain.
It is from the Leisure Arts book "Contest Favorite Afghan Squares" #2986 "30 best squares from the Crochet with Heart Contest, plus 10 full size afghans" ISBN 2890602986.
I got it on eBay. Didn't pay too much for it.. and I've used it tons. Got it for the square with a heart in the middle.. but it turns out not to be my favorite of the ones in there.
That square is probably a tad bigger than 8".. the pattern calls for WW and a D (!) hook. I used an H and held the yarn tight and modified some rows (.. where a dc was called for, I did a hdc, etc.).
It's one of the ones shown as a whole afghan.. very pretty that way too.
If you don't want to deal with ebay.. Jennie Gaskins has it for sale too. She's a wonderful person to buy from.. very kind and will help you find things.

here's an ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Leisure-Arts-Contest-Favorites-Afghan-Squares-Crochet_W0QQitemZ120293153486QQihZ002QQcategoryZ11 797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) auction currently at 99cents and 3.00 shipping.. not bad.
Hope this helps!!

Your works are awesome.... Love those variegated squares and the round ripple.
I have a stupid question and my curiousity has piqued since I saw this team on the athletes list, can someone pm me and tell me what FA is? I feel like I should know, but it escapes me.

I didn't make it to the BBQ yesterday. I wasn't feeling that great with the rain etc. I had a nap and then crocheted until it was time to make dinner. Then I went to my AA meeting. I am coming up on 2 years sober (August 13th).
I did finish 3 squares today. I will post a pic tomorrow.

Bonnie- what is the Eternity Squared? I'd like to see it, is the pattern on the web? Sounds cool!
After my crazy few work days, I was glad to hit my hooks hard early today. :c9 Today is a major day here though, my little pip squeek has turned 3!!!!! She sat on my lap while I assembled some of my pieces today, and told me how beautiful it was. :manyheart
I now have a full section completed so you can see what the colors really look like together. Please be gentle, I'm fragile, so if you hate it, I'm asking you to lie :devil
A few things I have learned though, are 1. joining the white to the green as they are done is a good idea 2. you join the whites and greens first, then attach them to the blacks... waiting until u have 2 sections going to the same black piece, cuts down on ends to weave in, so that is a good idea! and 3. NEENER NEENER NEENER The purple piece got her today, no more taunting me! :rofl
Now, I'm going to clean, then later I am going to crochet some more pieces :crocheting
As of this moment I am 36.04% completed with my project! :yay
Here it is 2 angles decide which you like best, :lol

Here are the two squares I did last night and the six I completed today. The three are eternity squared and of course the Daisy pattern which I will still continue to try to do a couple a day with the others as they are my form of sending good prayers which each one that I do.

Judy, I answered you over at yahoo and, if anyone wants to correct me, feel free but here's what I said:
I believe Bonnie is taking any color square and is the one who is collecting them. Some of us are making items specifically to be auctioned off in october for FA fundraising and those items will go to Jimbo. The traveling hook is for an afghan for Jessica, the daughter of friends of Jimbo, (earth tones) and other children afflicted with FA (any color).
I hope if I"m wrong, someone corrects me, but this is my understanding.

Joyce, great job, love the hat.
Ann, the scarves are great and I love the flower.
Tracy congrats on being so far past your goal already and having more than me when I don't even work for a living.
Thank you to everyone that answered Judy's question, and you all score 100 points for being absolutlely correct
I hope everyone has a great night as I am off to bed. I spent from 3pm on making rectangles for the troops and need to get to my squares tomorrow early if I am going to get them done as I wish.

I don't remember when I posted last...
Tuesday was Dog Grooming and DD Gyn appt.. so I didn't get a whole lot done. Then late that night I found out some rather depressing news about my ds.
It's not major.. just an issue I thought we were past has reared up it's head again. DH and I are very depressed over him. We've tried the carrot, now we're trying the stick (so to speak.. can't really spank a 19 y/o..lol.. even if it would do somebody some good.. so we're hitting him in the wallet instead.)
All that bellyaching was to explain why I haven't posted... because Tuesday was a bad day and I didn't get much done.
Now that Wed is over, I do have something to show for it.
First.. is a square I am working on designing. I'm not perfectly satisfied with it yet, but I think it has potential.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/Lisaizme/Charity/th_MyDesign.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/Lisaizme/Charity/MyDesign.jpg)
What do ya'll think? I'm not satisfied with the edges yet.. and I haven't woven in the ends either. Thinking of maybe fewer color changes too.
And here are some from other peoples patterns.

Don't know how much I'll get done this weekend.. it's the tax free weekend here.. and baby needs new shoes, along with jeans and all kinds of stuff.

Lisa, it looks good....a hint: when I made my own square design I had to adjust the border, using hdc or dc as appropriate to keep the edge even.
Try playing with the previous row or two and see what happens.
Good luck!:hug
