Ladies and gentlemen,
Make sure that you have those supplies near you as you cheer on the athletes around you. I am warming up, went through my stash and pulled out the masculine colors, and I am balancing my time between projects. I have the schedule of heats available for when I need to be working ion rectangles. I know that together we will finish ahead of the game.

And it isn't lunch time yet! I'm sure there will be days I won't be able to work on these so I want to get as many today as possible. That will help put a big dent in that 100. I figured I needed to average 6.25 per day for gold.

Woo Hoo! My daughter's group will be in the finals tomorrow night!!! :yay
They placed 14th last year, and didn't get past the semi-finals. Right now, they're sitting in 8th. :D That's probably where they'll finish tomorrow, but that's okay! They're happy with their success!
Anyway, back to crocheting! :crocheting I was just wondering...how many others are doing the exact same stitch/pattern for every rectangle and using the same kind of yarn? I know I am just for the sake of getting the job done. Go Team HAP!!!!

I got 8! I need to finish the ends. And, if you're curious I used a very boring double crochet all day. The darker yarn is TLC Essentials in "Claret" and the Red is Red Heart Soft Yarn in "Cherry Red". I hope to do a different stitch tomorrow, but this is my 'old reliable" and quickest. I wanted to see how many I could do on an average day. I had company this afternoon and took time out to help do some weeding at the local playground. + my regular household stuff: supper, a load of laundry, etc.
Over my target of 6.25 per day. :D I hope to keep up this pace but the extras will help on days I won't be able to crochet as much.

i finished with 7 for the day, all done in camo , with the chain link stitch. It is 12:18 pm right now and I will take a picture in the moring, it is above my goal of 4 a day but I was able to crochet whiloe watching the opening ceremonies, and while waiting for hubby to ge home from hockey.

here are the 10 camo rectangles that I have done so far. I was able to get some done this morning and wanted to post before I went to the PO. I will be back to the competion tonight while my grandson is here. Hopefully I will get 4 more done.

WOW! You guys are doing awesome! I finished three yesterday, and I was able to knock one out this morning before coming to work. But, I did bring my yarn with me! So, when I get a break I "will" be stitching!!! :hook

I had most of the afternoon and evening while hubby was busy. I also don't work right now because of migraines.
I know that you will do some as you can and there will be days that I can't crochet, I will be in a dark room with the covers over my head and earplugs in my ears because even the birds singing can be thundering.

it is called earth and sky doesn't sow the browns and blue well but I have three more skeins of it to make up before I finish the games. I think I will change and do some of my other colors tomorrow because I am kind of tired of looking at this color:lol

Good morning everyone! :) I got one done this morning while I was watching "CBS Sunday Morning" (like I do every Sunday). I'm up to a total of eight right now, but that's right where I need to be. :yes I have to pick up my middle daughter at the airport in a little while, but I'll probably take my crocheting with me! Then I'll have the rest of the afternoon when I get back to crochet.
Just wanted to share with all of you that I heard from my eldest daughter. She's in Kuwait and should be going "down range" in a couple of weeks. For anyone who doesn't know, she's a medic and this will be her first deployment. Please, keep her in your thoughts & prayers? Thank you!

Today's been a tough one to find time to crochet. Claire and Emma are visiting and will be staying over night. I'll be working at it but I don't expect to keep up the 8 a day pace. Days like today make me glad I'm a little ahead of my plan.

On most of those I used a row of cross stitches and a row of single crochet, they work up quickly, about 45 minutes or less.

Morning Ladies! I forgot to post last night that I'd done my three for the day. So, I'm still right on task. :hook
Have to tell you that I spent part of my day yesterday at the USO inside of DFW Airport. All I can say is WOW! They've got a wonderful facility set up to assist all the troops coming through there on a daily basis. DFW is one of the airports that the R&R flights come into every day (along with Atlanta). They are there to try to help with anything that the service members (and their family members) might need while at the airport. I can hardly wait until I go back next Monday!

Can someone please call Timmy? OR Wanda?
I'm going to look in the fish bowl but if it isn't there I don't know what else to do.
Maybe I left them under this pile of yarn. If I try really hard to use it up I might find them underneath.........................

In annoucer voice.... Woman down on the field, Woman down on the field.... send in the cute medics and gorgeous masseurs..... I see them running across the field.... The cute medics are distributing the :water, :pizza, and :fan to the woman on the field.... the games have temporarily paused.... Whats this some :flake in the middle of summer?.... The :flake seems to be reviving the woman..... The cute medics slowly help the woman to the massage table... It seems there are two gorgeous masseurs now taking over to help the injured woman. .... She seems to be recovering... :no.... she still is :faint.... The cute medics are using towels to wipe the :sweat off her brow.... There she is getting up.... The coach is coming over and saying something, What... Ned on the sidelines is saying that she needs to take a time out..... Whoa it seems to be a lot of :flake :flying about.... This seems to need to be continued later.... We will keep you posted on the outcome....

I certainly think Cosmo (aka Nancy, aka Missmaxx) needs to learn a new stitch or (s)he will never be able to crochet anything but dc rectangles again - the motor movements will have imprinted on the neural pathways and our :flake progress layouts will never be the same!

Start crocheting in my sleep...I think I have been doing that for some time now, I crochet everywhere in the house except the "head". I carry the yarn in abag on my wrist even when I check the mail. Yes professional help is needed and a good massage would be great right now, I would ask my DH but alas he is golfing

:oops I guess I should have passed the baton to someone here to be able to use part of the gorgeous masseurs instead of keeping them in the holding area.
I tell you what we can split them up and have a personal on-demand gorgeous masseur for each team. That sounds fair to me.
Here's :king Gorgeous George. :wink He has extra towels to wipe the :sweat off of your brows and his pillows are nice and :fluffy. He's ready at a moments notice. Just ask him for help.

It's great to see all the rectangles being made here. I'm so glad I decided to pick Team HAP for my challenge.
I did much better today and got 8! I even took Marika's advice and changed my stitch! Well, sort of....... :D

I have been working on rectangles last night and today and made 12 , I will work on more tonight. It was one of those days that the rectangles rolled off the hooks with ease, I guess the training helped, of maybe ti was the massage that kept me up most of the night since I was so relaxed. :manyheart

Today was not a good rectangle day :(. I only have two.
I have a very busy Saturday ahead and today was spent getting ready. My little town has a reunion on the third Sat of Aug every year. We're just a tiny little borough of about 100 households. There will be a picnic with all the neighbors and everyone who ever lived here is invited to join us at our local park/playground for hot dogs, hamburgers, and potato salad - all made by the reunion committee. We'll add side dishes and desserts that the neighbors will bring. I made my homemade chocolate/peanutbutter fudge tonight and will be making a roaster full of rigatoni - using our homemade sauce- tomorrow morning.
It's just a typical summer picnic, but I sort of have to be there. You see, I'm married to the Mayor. I'm also the Judge of Elections. Yes, I'm Judge and First Lady! :wink
I can see the chances of making any rectangles tommorrow aren't good.
At least I'm a little ahead of schedule and I'll have to really hit the hook on Sunday, Monday....etc.
So for tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you.

Ok, I admit I miss my DH, he is off enjoying the weekend at a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells with his children, so I crocheted until a few minutes ago. I have 12 more and will do some more tomorrow afternoon after I do my FA Awareness squares in the morning.

Did I mention my duties include refilling the TP in the restrooms? It's very hard to keep the tarnish off my tiara in the dang potty! Takes years of practice and lots of luck. :D
OK ...off to the first bathroom to change into clean shorts. The first cat will require some petting today too. The duties of this office just never end.....

I am off to the dungeon, but I refuse to go without my hook and yarn. I should be able to get at least two done while machines are running, before folding . Tge one pattern only takes me a half hour each.

I haven't done any rectangles this afternoon, though I did six after midnight, I did add a new element to my routine though, I crocheted a rectangle set together that arrived yesterday. I do plan on working on some rectangles tonight though before midnight but post tomorrow.
Back from the dungeion, couldn't crochet there as there wasn't anywhere to sit down. Was a very busy dungeon today.

Hi everyone! I'm home from work, dinner's done, and I'm getting ready to start crocheting again! :hook I informed my family that my mission-in-life tomorrow will be to set up the crock-pot in the morning, watch movies, and crochet! :dreaming Of course, that's "always" a perfect Sunday to me!

Anywho, thanks for all the :mdust... it has kept the :frog :frog :frog away for a good long time, had one yesterday, but it was more of a tadpole, so things are clicking along in filet-land... Please don't think twice about it :hug. Truth be known, I'd jump at the chance to be Claire and Emma's Grammy. Except of course when Claire decides it's "appreciate your Aunt Day"! :haha We've had two of those this summer! I'm sure I don't know where she gets this stuff. But I love it when she does!
Yesterday, at her cousin's 1st birthday party she asked if it would be OK for her to read the cards as Leigha opened the gifts. She solemly opened each card as they were handed to her and read every one of them out loud. There was one she took her time with - doing OK but slow (for her) I walked up behind her and saw the problem -It was written in cursive. She read every word. Did I mention she's 5 and hasn't started school yet? We're very proud of her. :yes
OK, back to crochet. I have 3 rectangles so far today I need to spend the evening with a hook in my hand!

I can’t imagine there is a event for this but my personal Team HAP goal is to get all the photographed HAP handmade afghans I have in my house washed and wrapped by the end of the games. Have already this morning photographed 11 and looks like there are about 20 to go. That will bring the total to be washed and wrapped to around 60……… I’ll wash and you all make 6” x 9” rectangles so I’ll have more to wash after our September design event.

:flower Didn't realize how busy the HAP afghan crocheters had been.... the photos are taken (and posted on the website ~ www.rectangle6x9.org (http://www.rectangle6x9.org)) and my task is 65 handmade afghans to be washed and packaged.
20 are done and I've got my schedule planned. Luckily I've been in training for this event for over 3 years :yes

I need to do 4 squares a day for the next 5 days, (includes today) to reach gold, that doesn't mean 20 rectangles as my goal was a minimum of 4 per day, meaning I will be the last one competing to get gold. Here are today's , I finished up the two different shades of gray that I had.

I haven't been posting.... I'm trying to finish! :)
I also haven't made a lot of progress. :sigh
Yesterday I only got 3. Today it was 6. Pictures tomorrow.
I believe there's a conspiracy out there. Hey, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out there waiting. .... :lol
I'm calling it quits for tonight. My hands are tired. I'll have more energy tomorrow.
Keep up the good work angelfire. I'm amazed at how many you can get done in a day. My simple pattern takes me at least 25 minutes to complete. Your hook is on fire!

Best I can figure out the games end at around midnight on Sunday night in China which is noon Saturday in Washington D.C. ~ would LOVE to be wrong on this one........
Now I'm really confused..... okay, if the Closing ceremony ends at 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 24 in China it looks like I messed up and the is NOON on Sunday in Washington D.C.

61 of them have been washed (will do the last 4 on Saturday)
44 have been wrapped (will do 17 on Saturday and the last 4 on Sunday)
I know my washer and dryer are going to need a rest!!!!!!!

Just wanted to check in and say "I'm still here"! I haven't crocheted in two-three days! :( It's been a hectic week! I had to drive my daughter to Arkansas yesterday morning for school, and then I drove back to Texas last night. To make my goal I have to crochet 15 more rectangles in the next 24 hours. I had to drive my daughter to Arkansas yesterday morning for school, and then I drove back to Texas last night. To make my goal I have to crochet 15 more rectangles in the next 24 hours. Hey everyone,
Just wanted to check in and say "I'm still here"! I haven't crocheted in two-three days! :( It's been a hectic week! Hi everyone! I'm still at work, but I've gotten four more rectangles completed "while at work"! :D How great is that?!? I'll be heading home shortly and after a quick stop for groceries, I'll be back to crocheting! :hook My daughter's working tonight and my hubby's out of town until tomorrow. I've completed my Olympic Games goal.... to get the 65 finished HAP afghans in my home photographed, washed and wrapped for delivery!! Just wrapped the last four.
Here are photos of SOME of the handmade afghans. 25 of them will go out next week to our wounded Warriors.
