Thanks Craziebunny! I've been working on it for what seems like forever and I only have 9 motifs done so far -- making 12 for this is definitely be a challenge! Whew!!

I can't wait to see pictures of your star and snowflakes -- I've always wanted to make snowflakes but I'm such a big chicken when it comes to starching/stiffening stuff!

Ohhhh, I can't wait!!!!

Hello all! I'm ready to start but first I'm desperately trying to finish the tank top I'm making to wear to my FSIL's bridal shower on Sun. I think DH is driving us when we go into St. louis though so that gives me two hours in the car to work on my stockings

Earlier today I set a goal for 7 rows over in the Let the Games Begin forum.
It looks like I am going to make my goal !!!

Tomorrows goal will be lighter because the kiddos will be home but I am going to shoot for 4 more rows and weaving in all the ends so far. It's a graphed pattern so there are lots of starts and stops with ends. Weave, weave, weave!

Oh littleKnit- I am a BIG ER fan myself. So many years of my life watching ER!

Hello fellow teammates! I'm afraid I jumped in over my head when I set a goal to make an oval doily. :blush
During the training time I tried out a small sample and it is beyond my abilities right now.

In the true spirit of "never quit" I have substituted an easier doily to work on, and I hope it to get it completed by the end of the games.

I can't wait to settle in for a night of watching the Olympics and crochet! It won't be long now...

Good luck to all the athletes. :clap :clap :clap

Hey teammates! :cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer:cheer Go team home decor!
I'm so excited! I actually got pretty far yesterday, but I had to frog practically the entire thing, except for two rows.:(:(:(:( But, we're going to the beach today, so I'll have plenty of time to work on my doily in the car. I'm goin' for gold all the way with my mom!
Have fun everybody, and I'll post pics of my progress soon.

August 9th, 2008, 05:05 PM
OK- So I met yesterday's goal to do 7 rows. I was flying! :cheer

Today I found an hour to myself and took my project basket up to my room. Completed 2 rows today. Worked much slower than yesterday because I really should be more careful (and not so careless) :P

I am going to try to do one more good row tonight. I'll plan to post a picture tomorrow. :blush

I am also working on assembling squares for an afghan to take to my grandfather in the nursing home. The joinings are all black and hard to see so I only do a few squares a day. ;)

Slow and steady- that's how I'm going to make it to the finish line! :clap

Here is a picture of what I have done so far. There is a total of 11 motifs (9 previously made and 2 made during the CGOG)........only 10 more to make for a gold medal -- and like a million more for an actual tablecloth! :faint

Everyone is doing an awesome job - I can't wait to see progress pictures!!

You do beautiful work and your tablecloth is going to be stunning :yes
Thanks for posting pictures. What size hook are you using? I have all my grandmothers thread hooks so I can look to see what you're working with. Is that size 10 thread or smaller?

I hope to work on my project today at least for an hour or two.
I never know how my day is going to go.

DD-11 is leaving at noon with her aunt to go to the Great Wolf Lodge. It's a rustic style hotel with an amazing indoor water park. My SIL is taking 5 of her neices and nephews ages 7-12. Nice- huh? DS-8 is going to a babysitters. My son can't go the lodge because he's autistic and she couldn't handle him. Franky- I couln't handle him there either.

DH said he helping with housework so I intend to work him hard :lol
I want to vacume under the kids beds.

Then it's time to relax and pull out my hooks. I've been watching and following the real Olympics in Beijing. It's good stuff.

Have a great day everyone!

LyndyLou - Your tablecloth is beautiful! Congrats on making good progress!

Craziebunny - Glad you were able to get a snowflake done. I know how frustrating it can be to get stuck on a pattern. I ended up having to switch to an easier pattern for the Games because I couldn't get any further on the one I chose originally.

I'm currently working on this doily pattern:
http://www.jacqscrochet.com/delicatedoily.htm

The 8 petals in the center were a bit of a challenge, mostly because I kept getting distracted by the beauty of the Opening Ceremonies, but I have now gotten up to row 7.

Go Team!

I have managed to finish row 10 on my doily. The next row consists of a total of 160 single crochets into the outer chain stitches of the last row. Not looking forward to it...

I'd post a picture of my progress, but I don't think I can do that yet.

Scorpio59 - Hope you are feeling better today. No sense in pushing yourself to crochet if you don't feel up to it. :fever

I haven't set any specific goals except to try and do a little bit more each time I sit down to watch the Olympics on TV. Last night, the Men's Gymnastics competition was too interesting to me to do much crocheting except for during the commercials! :hook

Thanks to the observers and the athletes from the other teams for stopping by to spread some cheer. :cheer

Quilt Crossover - I know what you mean about not being able to watch tv and crochet at the same time!! I try to make the most out of the commercial breaks too!!

Thanks to all the cheerleaders!! :cheer :cheer :cheer How cool is that?!

My tablecloth motif's are coming along slowly -- I wanted to be able to complete 1 per day, but it looks like that isn't going to be working out quite like I had planned........ so far I only have 3 motif's completed.

Managed to stay awake last night and finished two rows on my doily. :clap

Two doesn't sound like a lot, but these rows were both time consumers. The first row was 160 single crochets into the previous row of chain stitchs, which, on thread crochet are pretty hard to see where to put the hook, at least for a bifocal-wearing, newbie crocheter like me. The second row last night was another 160 single crochets into the previous row of single crochets. These were easier to find, but not too much. After all that peering and squinting, I was done for the night. :confused

The next rows start to get more lacy and interesting and should work up faster.

I can't post pictures yet, but here's a reminder of the pattern I'm using:

Not good with thread?! You could have fooled me! It looked to me like your tea cozies were using a pretty fine thread or yarn. What type of yarn are you using?

(As long as I'm being so nosy, could I ask you where you got your pattern for the tea cozies from? :wink )

those cozies are out of plain old red heart! Our very own cupcake has the free pattern on her blog and I love it!! You can find it here: http://crochetroo.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html I have been sewing buttons on, but also thought about using those scrapbooking brads...you take those off for washing. As soon as I finish the Greek Games I want to work on a set of seasonal cozies for my daughter. There are cute buttons for every occassion and holiday. I am looking for some wedding buttons now. :hook

Whenever I try to work with thread I feel like I have big clumsy fingers! I tend to lose patience with it pretty quickly, maybe someday! I would like to make some snowflakes like craziebunny!

I had trouble finding plain white teapots locally so I ordered them online through the english tea store http://www.englishteastore.com/jewelteapots.html I needed 10 of them and if you order 6 or more, they cost less. I got the 6 cup size and they are $7.95 or $7 if you buy 6 or more. They have all different sizes and many other great items. If you go over $75 the shipping is free, so that is the route I went and I got losts of cute little things for my daughter's bridal tea! Quick shipping and well package!
Wow! your tablecloth is coming out beautifully!!:cheer

Ooh! Lots of progress and pictures too! Way to go team!

LyndyLou - I have never done a project where you make the motifs and then sew them together. Do you attach them to each other as you crochet, or do you put them all together when the motifs are all done?

Contrary - Thanks for sharing the link with the directions for the tea cozy. I like your addition of the buttons on the top to make them each so personalized.

Erika - I was going to post a message to you today to ask how the butterflies were going. Glad to hear that your butterflies are coming along. I'm sure your friend will appreciate your gift.

I have finished up to row 16 on my doily, and have 8 more rows to go. I forgot how much more time each row takes to complete as the doily get bigger. :blush Hopefully, I can get this baby finished if my fingers don't give out first!

The cowboy tea cozy is really cute. :D

I did a bit of a crochet marathon on Monday night, but last night my fingers/hands were too rebellious from all the work the night before to be much use. :shrug

I am now on row 22 of a 25 row pattern. I have an idea of what the Olympic marathon runners must feel when they finally get to the entrance of the Stadium near the end of their run, but then have to run a few more laps around the track once they get inside to get to the finish line.

Only three more rows to go... I think I can see the Stadium!!! :drool

Beautiful, Laura! You don't have to weave these thread loose ends very far. Once it's stiffened by whatever method you choose, the loose ends stay put. It's not like you're throwing it over your lap to keep warm or pulling it over your head to wear or washing it all the time.:)

Be sure to send the final pic to Cylinda at Crochet Memories. She loves to see pics of what we make.
