Had to get me some sustenance, too - this is grueling work!

Apparently, all the excitement has created some tension issues for me, so I had to go to the trainer for a rub-down to loosen me up. Good thing I caught it in time so that I didn't have an injury later. :rofl

Hello everybody. :waving

I already work on my bag for an hour. I can see that I am a bit behind by my personal time. :P The gauge is 4 inches bigger than expected. I decide to keep it this way.

Quick math help - the pattern calls for 12 inches x 15 inches x 12 inches... so far I have a front panel that is 16 inches x (6 inches so far). Should I go for 16 inches x 19 inches x 16 inches ?

Krystal16
August 8th, 2008, 11:03 AM
The proper ratio would be 16x16x20

Good morning all you SKY athletes! I'm so glad I can say "good morning". I usually don't get up till the afternoon cause I don't get to sleep until sometimes between 2 and 4 a.m. Even if I get to bed at a decent hour, I wake up every 2-3 hrs...sometimes even less. I hate that! Oh, BTW, I had my chocolate (Butterfinger) around 4 a.m. EDT.

Yep, I wasn't a bit surprised when I saw our thread was already the longest.

Besides, my arms get so tired and heavy and I just can't stick with it one after another. I'm only on my 3rd one now. But that ain't all I been doin'.

Hey Krystal, I should've already done this but I'm trying to place on hold at the library some Kay Scarpetta audio books. I've already heard the 1st 3, Postmortem, Body of Evidence, and All that Remains.

The 4th and 5th are at other branches but the 6th, From Potter's Field, is available.

I realize you may not know this off the top of your head but does it matter if I skip a couple?

I think I can crochet better and work in those loose ends if I have some books to listen to.

Krystal16
August 8th, 2008, 02:54 PM
You *could* listen to them out of order... the plot of the stories themselves won't be affected, but there are things that happen in the personal lives of their characters that you'd be aware of ahead of time... I can't remember exactly what happens in each of those specifically. There is one book (Point of Origin) that I absolutely would NOT read ahead of time.

Yeah!! Way to Go, Team SKY!!!
I've got my yarn all organized, my pattern printed and blocks marked, chart of how many of which color squares done and the the first 16 saltines done for the first block of 25. My computer at home is unable to hook up to the internet at the moment, so I'll be in here a little hit or miss when I can get to the Library. To make my goal I have to complete 8 of 12 blocks, 4 of 25 saltines and 4 of 30 saltines. To complete the whole ghan will take and extra 4 blocks of 25 saltines. If things go well I might get the whole thing done during the games, but I'm giving myself some wriggle room just in case my arm and back act up. We are definately off to a good start!

Okay, first four squares joined. Need something to eat real quick and I probably should go ahead and get dressed :lol

Great Job. Just call it a Jammie day!!!!

I finished my doily! It is only 5.5 inches - I'm going to bump up to a size 4 hook for the next doily, see if that helps. (I'm using an 8 like it calls for)

Hope to weave in that end and iron block this baby today!

Way to go!!!

I finised up my first skein of yarn for my first panel. I am making the ghan in panels. 10 inches by 72 inches....

I love the Kay Scapetta novels, but did get a little tired of her. I have had the last one since it was released, but have yet to read it...

Very good advice :yes
That is what I do, along with a few other things for my neck.
I lay flat, put a rolled towel under my neck and relax for 5 minutes.
Then while crocheting, if my neck and shoulders start to feel tight, I have 2 tennis balls in a sock, and I put them behind my neck. Feels funny at first, but it helps.

OK Ladies, I may have hit a snag in my first project for the games :eek
I am making a 2 strand rug to match the ones I made for Nancy when I was down in Florida. She wanted one to go in front of the couch, but I ran out of time. I thought it would be perfect to have the rug be one of my projects. Well, I read the size wrong and it is 6" too narrow. And I already have 18" of it done :(
I just emailed her to tell her of my big (HUGE) Boo-Boo and I am waiting for her response. If she wants it the 'right' size, I won't frog it right away, I will finish these skeins, then start over frogging as I go.

I can't believe I did this.

But I won't let the team down. I will fix it one way or the other. All I have done is lost one day.

Nancy has probably turned her puter off and is snuggled on the couch, so I most likely won't know anything till tomorrow.
The worst part is that when I bought the yarn, I bought for the smaller size, so if she wants it the original size, I will have to buy more yarn. and I probably won't be able to match the dye lot for the variegated. So I will have to buy all new variegated yarn.
Oh Well, not much I can do but wait and see what she wants.
I'll get it fixed one way or the other.

I wanted a rug this color anyway, so if it is the wrong size, I may keep this one :D

Looks like everyone made great progress today! I was at work when the games started but I was able to work on mine in between calls. The ghan is 5 squares by 5 squares so 25 total, 4 of which is the star graph (pattern called for more but dh thought it was too girly for a baby boy so slimmed it down to one in each corner) and 3 of which are the baby's initials. So that makes 7 graphed squares and 18 plan squares. Today at work I finished 3 plain squares! Not bad for being busy! Tonight I will work on one star graph for sure hopefully 2. I think I will actually finish early! Tomorrow is a busy day for us. Got an oil change in the morning and get our replacement crib and have some errands to run so may not get much done till tomorrow night. I will check in then to see how everyone is doing!!! :cheer:cheer:cheer

Wendy - our TV stations all bid on the contract to broadcast the Olympics. "NBC" won, and they have several cable affiliates. I hate watching the olympics on American TV - they only put on the popular sports (i.e. - the sports America is likely to win Gold in) and then they chop the sport up into pieces and only show the top few competitors in the race. Now, if you have CABLE or SATELLITE (I don't) you can pay extra to buy some of the premium sports channels, and then you can watch THAT particular sport in its entirety. (i.e. - the SOCCER channel, the GYMNASTICS channel)...

When I lived a little closer to the border, we used to pick up the channel from Ontario, Canada - we used to watch teh Olympics on that channel and could then see what the US channels cut out.

Okay what's horse dressage? All I can picture is horses wearing hats :blush

Okay. I got 16 squares made and sewn together. That's 2 rows of 10 :yay But now, I'm going to bed. Night all :ghug

I'm fairly sure dressage is where they make the horses do all the nifty tricks like walk leg over leg, head held high, that kind of thing - it sort of looks like the horse is dancing.

Night Cara, Diane and Debra.:hug

Krystal we had the same with our tv stations but the local station won the rights not the cable site, so thats good in a way. We do get sports where we are winning or playing and also only Aussie medal presentations which is annoying because if I have been watching a sport I like to see that country's medal presentation.

Yes Horse dressage, Krystal is correct, its where the horse does all these nifty tricks.

Ok a question for you all. I have been watching Beach Volleyball this arvo and they had the ladies playing in their skimpy bikinis, now its the mens turn and why are they wearing tank tops and long loose shorts. Now is that at all fair for us watching the game, I think not. :lol

Haven't heard back from Nancy yet about the size of the rug, so it is still on hold.
Hilly will be leaving for Myrtle Beach as soon as her dad gets here to pick her up. Once she is gone, I have a phone call to make (a friend is having marital problems and she needs a shoulder to cry on), then I think I will start on a scarf. Don't want to start on the RR just yet, cause my neck isn't happy with the way I slept and I don't want to aggravate it this early in the day.

But I will get some of the scarf done today. I won't let the team down :D

Wendy - I flound some Fuwas for salw here http://www.ioffer.com/si/fuwa (http://www.ioffer.com/si/fuwa)

Doesn't Australia have an online Olympics shop? Here we have the US Olympics shop, an NBC shop (tv station carrying the Olympics) and you can also shop at Roots, which is a Canadian store. I have one of those blue berets from Roots from a couple years ago. I also have a pullover seatshirt from then. I love some of the Roots shirts with dragons on them, might have to get one. Don't like any of the Ralph Lauren stuff and it's way too expensive $145.00 for a polo shirt. Ridicluous!
