Hi! I just wanted to say that this is a great company to buy from! I recently ordered 5 of the bulk mill ends, that were $2/lb for charity work, and the colors are great! I just needed a little yarn to do fleece blanket edging for the Project Linus here, and it really worked out great! When my store does a little better (closed now to get ready for a huge craft fair!! :)) then I'll definately buy more! I can't wait!!! Thank you so much!

Picked up my order at the UPS store this afternoon. Love it all -- working on HAP rectangles (26 completed of the 50 promised for November). Just finished one of three skeins bagged together to make "around a pound"! Thanks for the great service and rapid shipping.

Happened to look at the site earlier today and noticed they had DELFT BLUE available that is needed for the Special Olympics scarf projects. Posted about it under that thread as I know people are having a hard time finding it.

Can you request same dye lots when you order? I love making afghans, but am not sure if mill ends would work for them.

Angelicrafts
September 25th, 2008, 01:23 PM
Hi Jana. The Red Heart Mill Ends we get are no-dye lot. Some of the Caron are no-dye lot as well.

The Caron mill ends are packaged by Caron and do not indicate dye lot. We have no way of knowing. As we've sorted them by color, each box seems to be from the same lot.

Thanks Angelfire.

I'm wondering what the difference is between Bulk Mill Ends and Bulk Odds & Ends?......each lb. of bulk mill ends is one color, but you don't get to pick your colors.....and odds and ends maybe you get small balls that add up to the lbs. ordered but not necessarily one lb. of each color?

Angelicrafts
October 6th, 2008, 02:32 PM
Hi Tia and all!

Tia, you are correct about the difference between odds and ends and bulk mill ends.

We are out of both right now and will sned out email and posts when we have more. It may be while longer though.

We will be adding a lot of Around-A-Pound Red Heart Mill Ends and Caron Mill Ends to the site this evening. Shopping will be down from about 3pm Eastern Time until Tuesday morning while we put new stock up. The Red Heart Mill Ends are still $3.00 and the Caron Mill ends are $3.50. You get to choose color of both.

And - until October 31st, we are offering free shipping on all orders over $35 to help our great customers keep the savings of using Mill Ends!

Peace,
Billy

OHHHHHHHHHH -- I have two boxes of yarn from them in my family room. Somehow my stash is always missing just the right color to finish off a project. It is such fun to keep checking back to see what they have as they post new arrivals. Last time I talked to them on the phone I stressed I would like to see more "baby weight" yarns but they do not get it in very often. Lets see -- I've been using surf/turf, taupe, light sage, light pink baby yarn, cream, red, and a couple others for my charity projects. Will have to take a peek tomorrow and see what's new.

I received my order last week but haven't had a chance to post. The colors were great, everything was packed so neatly I didn't even need to find a place to stash, just left it all in the box it came from. I'll definately be checking back, not that I need to expand my stash but.... :devil

That's okay. I'm through making ugly scrapghans (well after I finish the 3SUB I'm working on.) I'm going to donate the rest of my scraps when I mail out my Circles of Hope. That should even things out, though I doubt it'll all happen in the same week!

Hi Sarah. Unfortuately, we do not get to order mill ends by color. We call the mills and they send us what they have based on what they have been running over the past few weeks. Sometimes we get lots of multis, other times we get very few. Same with the baby yarns and the bulky yarns.

Peace,
Billy

If you all think you are spending alot on line, you should go to the shop at the fairgrounds. I went two weekends ago but they will re-open the first of November after the North Carolina State Fair is over. I am going back with money because I know I will spend alot. This is a good place!

Greetings friends! We added about 200 bags of Red Heart and Caron Mill Ends today!

Angelicrafts
October 16th, 2008, 05:15 PM
Dear Friends,
In these tough economic times, we know it becomes harder and harder to obtain the supplies we need to give to others. Now a days a few dollars in savings makes a big difference in the blankets, hats, scarves, sweaters and mitten we are able to give to homeless folks, those in nursing homes, new born infants, children dealing with terminal illnesses, impoverished families on Reservations, injured women and men of our Armed Forces, and so many others whose lives you, our Angels, touch.

We received notice last week from some of our distributors and yarn
manufacturers stating that they were increasing wholesale prices due to rising costs of raw materials and production. This seems to be occurring with most if not all major craft yarn manufacturers. We anticipate these increases will be phased in over the next several months. We experienced the first wave of these increases this week.

Here at Angelicrafts, we work diligently to keep our overhead as low as possible so that we can keep our markup as low as possible and ensure you have access to the best possible price. Our low markup means, however, that we cannot absorb the cost of these increases, as well as the increases we have seen in the cost of doing business.

Regretfully, we must change the pricing of our mill end yarns. Our Around-A-Pound Red Heart and TLC Mill Ends are now $3.50 per bag (15-18 oz bags). Our Caron Mill Ends are now $3.75 per bag (one pound bag).

To try and ease the burden of the price increase, we have extended our October special indefinitely. All order of $35 or more will receive free UPS Ground shipping within the 48 contiguous states. We are continuing to negotiate good shipping rates for our friends in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada. We will let you know as soon as we have good rates in place.

Thank you for your patronage and support and for helping us keep our prices low by telling friends about us.

Peace and Blessings,
Billy and Mark

Billy,
We understand, and your prices are still great. Thanks for keeping the free shipping deal! I'll definitely be back. Your customer service is great...thanks for replacing that wrong color on the spot! And thanks for letting me keep the wrong color, I can sure use it, no problem at all. I make afghans, hats and scarves for charity. I'll use it all!

Greetings all!!

Just wanted to share a few things with you:

First, we just added almost 250 bags of Red Heart and TLC Mill Ends to the Website. There is a lot of variety in colors and styles, but supplies are pretty limited with some colors.

Second, don't forget free shipping on all orders of $35 or more has been extended indefinitely!

Third, The Grand Re-opening of the Raleigh Flea Market at the N.C. State Fairgrounds is less than two weeks away – November 8th and 9th. We will be in our same location, inside the Education Building (formerly known as Building 2) with a new look and new products. The Raleigh Flea Market is re-opening with new management and LOTS of really great changes. There will be many new vendors, both inside and outside including lots of new food vendors. So come by and see us when you’re in the area.

Finally, thank you for all your kind words and emails over the past few weeks. The current economic state in our country is wearing on all of us, and it's especially scary when you’re running a fairly young small business. You remind me why we do this and help me stay motivated.

As I've been on the phone with vendors and suppliers and shippers trying to negotiate better prices and rates, they all ask, "You sell what? Who are your customers?" I tell them about you all, about the wonderful gifts you make and share with others, and about the incredible charities and people you support. The response I get most often is an amazed, “Wow.” I have to admit that it makes me proud! YOU ALL ROCK!!!:clap

Thanks for touching so many lives with the work you do, and for including us in your journey!!

OK - enough of my being sentimental. Go buy some yarn! - :hook

Peace and Blessings,
Billy

Greetings All! We've just added about 175 bags of Red Heart and TLC Mill Ends to the website. I apologize for the delay getting re-stocked, but I spent about a week getting ready to re-open at the Raleigh Flea Market last weekend. I really wished I had pics of me swinging from the ceiling beams hanging lights - it was a hoot!

It will likely be next week for our next update. We're waiting for the mill to get enough mill ends together to ship to us.

Peace and Blessings,
Billy

What exactly are mill ends?

Angelicrafts
November 11th, 2008, 07:19 PM
Hi Dottie. The definition of mill end yarn varies by manufacturer and mill. Essentially, mill ends are like “left-overs” or “factory seconds” from the yarn mills. Some mills call them “waste” yarn. We call them good yarn and a really good price!! Much of the time, at least with the mill ends we carry, the mill equipment simply made some skeins too small, too large, too tight, too loose, lopsided or funny-looking. Sometimes there is yarn left on the machine when the run is completed. This left-over yarn is run off the cones.

You can view our more detailed Mill End Info FAQ by clicking here (http://www.angelicrafts.com/pages.php?pageid=10).
