Help!! I am looking for patterns to make items that resemble chain mail armor. I am not very advanced as far projects go, but I would like to make some items for my brother in law who has a production company that performs live jousting contests at various events. If anyone has any suggestions on what type of stitching I could use or how to adapt patterns for this purpose, I would love to hear your ideas.

There is this hood. It is for a child so you'll have to fiddle with it for adult sizes.

Maybe something like this mesh top would work:

What about adapting patterns that use pop tops? Maybe you could substitute cheap metal washers from Home Depot?

Spooky! I was just coming here to ask the same question as my DS requested "armour" last night!! I've already made him the chainmail helmet pattern that is listed in this thread. Mine turned out a bit bigger than the pattern even though I followed it carefully. I LOVE that knitted one.....might have to try and work it out in crochet.:think
