I just can't seem to stay away from this book! Here's my latest:

http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/Graymist35/stacy.JPG

The pattern calls for Classic Elite's "Flash," but I used Elann's Pasticcio cotton (about twice as big as Flash) and crocheted the smallest size. (35" to get a 44" bust). I made it about 5" longer than the pattern stated and added a couple of rows to the neckline (enough to keep it on my shoulders), but those were the only changes. It was very fast to crochet, the shaping is very well done, and the pattern is super simple to follow.

If anyone is still wondering if they should get this book (Cool Crochet by Melissa Leapman), I'd say go for it, you love it! :cheer:manyheart

Now....hmmm....which pattern should I do next? hehehe:hook

Fabulous work on Stacy :manyheart ! How about Giselle next? I want to make the scarf from it with some Paton's Brilliant.

BTW, I have the book and agree with Bron. If there is anyone sitting on the fence about getting this, don't. It really has some cute, fresh patterns

That's great!
I've been looking for that book at B&N and books a million and haven't seen it there yet! I may check out Michael's sometime this week. I know that B&N will special order it, but if I'm going to order it, I'd rather get it cheaper somewhere like amazon! ;)

Good idea, Vera. "Giselle" is on my to-do list - just have to make a final decision on the yarn. (Ha- I should use some of my huge stash of Cotton Ease....I bought more today!) Maybe I'll do the scarf first with some of the chenille in my stash. :hook You & I should do a "Scarf-Along." ;)

Love it. You did a great job and I so want this book. I have yet to find it anywhere here so I may have to go to amazon once I get some extra money. Know what I'd like to see you do next? The shirt on the cover. I have been dying to make a shirt like that.

Hi Jesse -

Yeah - I want to make that wrap sweater too! I'd like to find a good subsitute for the Classic Elite "Star" called for in the pattern, though. I'd need about 15 skeins & at $5.50/skein, that's a little pricey! I just need to find a less expensive yarn with some stretch to it. :) The search is on!

Very nice job! I just checked out the book at Border's this past weekend per your recommendation, and it does have some cute patterns in it. A little pricey for my budget after my frenzy at Joann's this weekend, but my boss usually gives us gift certificates to Borders for Christmas, so if I can hold out that long, I know what I'll be spending it on.
