I made this from the Cool Summer Sweaters Pattern Leaflet. It's the pattern for the Classic Blue Stripes top, but I altered it somewhat. I made the main body part as the pattern stated but shortened it by two rows on the upper part, and I altered the neckline to show a bit of cleavage, and shows a bit of tummy Just a bit though it's still decent :lol . I like this, It took two days to make and it's quite comfy. DH liked it anyway. I think I'll be making this again.

RE: What yarn did you use for it?
I used some sport weight baby yarn that I had on hand. Next one I make I want to use sport weight cotton but I don't have any and My yarn budget is shot to heck. It turned out nice any way, and it's not too hot like I feared.

OK one more question...it looks completely different than the blue stripes top pattern that you used. I know you just did yours in all white (looks so nice that way!), but the stitch pattern looks different as well. Yours looks WAY nicer than the pattern pic, actually! So my question is, did you keep notes on the changes you made? I really, really like the fit of it, the way you did it. If you did take some notes, could you jot me a few tidbits here so I can make one like yours?

Sure. I really didn't make all that many changes. Ok the Yarn I used (1 large skein of Red Heart sport weight baby acrylic, the size I made used nearly the whole skein so if you are making it in a larger size in this yarn, you'd need more) worked up in a slightly bigger gauge that the pattern, so I made the small, rather than the medium, and used the G hook that the pattern recommends . I worked the first 21 rounds of the body just like the patterns states. When you split the front and the back On the back I worked row's 1 -14 and then skipped ahead and did row 17( basicly I shortened the back by two rows. Then on the front I worked rows 1- 8 as the pattern states, skipped rows 9 and 10 and started the Right neckline shaping. To do the neckline I did rows 1 and 2 twice, then I worked row 3 of the neckline shaping 5 times and then finished off with one row of row 7 of the neckline shaping. I repeated this process on the Left neckline shaping, and finished off according to the pattern instructions.
If you find that it Shows a little more tummy than you want you can work 2 or more rows of the bottom edging to get the coverage you want.
The main reason I shortened the upper part was to avoid the gapping at the underarm where the bra could show ( I hate that) and just from the picture it looked like that might happen. I didn't alter the stich pattern at all. Maybe I crocheted it a little snugger( I don't think so though, I have a very middle of the road tension) or the baby yarn and using all one color just changed how they look.
Hope this makes sense, Sonny

It's very pretty.:manyheart Looks great on you. Wish I could wear something like that but I'm to fluffy.
On this particular pattern the size goes up to a 50 1/2 finished chest measurement, or bigger with a bigger sized hook and if you wanted to keep the neckline like mine, yet still get tummy coverage all you'd need to do is add a couple of rows to the body portion or at the end on the bottom edging.

Thank you so much. I am sure it will make sense as I go along. I am printing your changes up right now. I appreciate your help!

Hi again Sonny!
Well I have started this top, and I'm using Lustersheen with a size F hook. It is soooo pretty, but it's kind of an open stitch and I am concerned that I may need to line it. Yours looks lacy and not too open, such that it doesn't look like you need a tank top under it or a lining for it. What do you think? In person, is your bra visible through the "peek-a-boo" stitches, or not really? Maybe it's a difference in the yarns we chose.

In the picture I'm actually wearing a white cropped light weight tank top under it. I tried it on both ways with the tank top and without. It's not too terribly open with the yarn I used but just enough so that I wouldn't be comfortable without wearing a little something underneath. I Love lacy looking things though so I just always intended to wear it with a little tank top under it. I practically live in tank tops anyway. I like the idea of lining it though, if I ever manage to get my sewing machine fixed. with the white top under it and the white yarn the openness of the stitch really doesn't show up in the picture.
