This (http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Crochet/Projects/Seasonal/WR1560+Crochet+Tree+Skirt.htm)is my favorite tree skirt. All our stockings are made of simple granny squares (http://members.aol.com/crochettalk2/gsstock.html), very easy to do and look cool.

There is also a pattern for a stocking that is blue and white (http://www.freepatterns.com/list.html?parent_cat_id=2&usage=holihome&criteria=). That one is at freepatterns, which is free, but you have to register to download.

White snowflakes would look pretty on a blue tree skirt...

This (http://www.artoftangle.com/snowflake.htm) might work. I did this and it turned out beautifully.

Just lay them out in a semi-circle but don't close it in on one side. You make the snowflake first, then crochet around it, then sew the squares. I think it would work.
I made it as a small afghan (lapghan) and used the sparkly white yarn and then trimmed in burgandy. Turned out nice.

You might try this (http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/cwhome.html)page. The patterns are by Sally George and she has them designed in a way that makes them really versatile. :hook
