Soda pop ring potholders

Im looking for an old crochet pattern that you crochet around the plastic soda pop rings to make a potholder I think from the 70's or 80's some how they were connected.
Does anyone no where I can find the pattern?

My neighbor gave me one that her mother made, quite awhile ago so that I could copy it, but I never did. But it's the same concept as the one that Sandy posted
