View Full Version : Riverboat Gambler (Hat)

I just finished this hat and it's now my favorite - I wear it all the time. When my son-in-law saw it he called it my Riverboat Gambler. I liked the name, so it stuck.
Anyway, here are the details: The basic pattern is O.G. from the book "Get Your Crochet On! Hip Hats & Cool Caps". I modified it slightly - the top is formed differently than the book and I made the brim a little more firm with a finishing round of sc2tog (single crochet two together). This is the third hat I've made from this pattern and I'm now working on a fourth. :hook
Hope you like it a fraction as much as do I. Images are (hopefully) clickable.

I like the crown shape especially.

Ken,
Thanks! I reshaped the crown to my own taste, different from the suggested shape in the book.

Yarn used was Caron Worsted (I used the One Pound, which I have a bunch of) in Taupe with the band in Espresso.
F hook for crown, H hook and two strands for the brim.
I really recommend this book. I've made several hats from the book and this was my third of this pattern. My son loves his - I guess I'll post those pics, too. A friend of my mother requested one, too. I'm working on that one now.

Donna,
Thanks!
It keeps the shape pretty well. The brim is great, since it's two strands and a bit thicker and stiffer than the crown, I reshape the crown when I put it on.

Aww, thanks Sandi. I bought the book on one of those "New/Used" links on Amazon for a great price.
