this secret santa type gift thing is for
a woman
between the ages of 45 and 47
she enjoys baking and her kitchen is her domain.
she is very into faries and goddesses
she is a hippy at heart
and is the type of woman who will always have her door open to all of her "children" she has hundreds of "children" that go to her on a regular basis...
im looking to make her something that is for her only... something that will be added to her retreat time when she curls up with a book or listens to her cds of celtic new age music

what do you make for a woman as special and eccentric as she?

the simpler the better...my plate is already way to full!

thanks! :hug

gosh, i dont know.

i was going to say some type of blanket that has something to do with faeries or something, maybe a faerie filet into it, but you said that your plate is full.

Good luck tho! sounds interesting. cant wait to hear what you come up with!

She sounds alot like my cousin in taste... would she like a shawl? Maria Merlino has one that sounds perfect for her...

I was thinking since her kitchen is her domain how about farie pot holders or a farie related wall hanging of some kind.

A couple of bookmarks.

A tote bag for her books and stuff. Do a graph for it and either crochet it in as you go, or cross stitch it on when you're done.

A lap afghan could be fast and easy if you pick the right one. A lot of people on here say that the round ripple is perfect for this kind of thing.

How about a cuddly pillow or two for her favorite spot.

Shawl. There are tons out there and maybe one or two is just perfect for her, besides the one already posted.

There are tons more ideas at CPC if you look through there.

How about a groovey 70's granny shawl? My link didn't work here, bur it was the granny shawl on the Groovey Crochet ******* site.

Here's another cute wrap that you could make in funky colors for the hippy at heart:

Hope this helps!

I agree that if her kitchen is her domain ... How about a few "cookie" potholders. I have made two large circles in cotton yarn that are tan and embroider French knots for the hcocolate chips and then crocheted the two circles together. They look good enough to eat. There is also an angle bag holder that might be adapted into a fairy. It can be found at crochet pattern central. I am also making some sachets this year. They are porcelin dolls with crocheted dresses and slips and then underneath I will sew a plastic canvas cirle for stability. The dress/slip will be stuffed and potpouri added. That could easily be made into a fairy, too.

I love the idea of cookie potholders. Thanks for sharing.

How about something totally different that she probably wouldn't get from someone else? It sounded like that was what you were going for, something different but quick too. Here's a pattern for a sea life pin (http://surawhit.googlepages.com/sealifepin). It's thread crochet so I don't know if that's something you care to do. Or maybe a bohemian purse (http://www.hobbylobby.com/project_inspiration/pdfprojects/HL-670.pdf)for her free spirit... Maybe you could find a pattern for a little chick & make her a basket of chicks, since she has so many kids. I agree - this is a tough one. She's probably the kind of person who'll appreciate whatever someone took the time to make for her though. Good luck.

Along the cookie potholder lines, you could make an oreo one with two brown circles and one white one, sandwiched between. I have made the oreo cookie magnets and everyone loves them. I had them at a craft sale once and just had them on a plate with plastic wrap over the top and people wanted to buy them thinking they were real! I have also made fruit potholders and icecrem cone ones.
