I'm broke but I have yarn that begs to be made into a felted bag. I just can't find a good pattern that's stylish. The ones I find are too boxy and plain.

help!

I have this one (http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/03/16/my-first-felted-bag/) which is a felted sling bag and this one (http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/06/01/felted-blue-handbag/)which is more smaller more like a handbag. Both are free and I have pictures at the links too. Good luck.

I like both of those, especially the first one. But I am open for more ideas because with the yarn I have I could probably make 3. LOL

The second smaller one would be perfect for my favorite little cousins for Christmas.

Ok so now it's 5 purses. haha. I've become addicted to felting even though I've only ever felted one purse and several potholders.

Freestyle it. I take features I like from one bag, maybe increase the size of another, and just go for it, then felt it.

I like this one (http://www.christinascrochethaven.com/felted_tote_bag.htm).

Why not use any purse pattern you like? Just crochet with a larger hook, so your project is loose and floppy, and probably larger than the pattern calls for, then felt it. Felting isn't an exact science, and even if you follow a pattern, every project is pretty much one-of-a-kind.

Here is a link to a great on-line book called "Crocheted Pursenalities: 20 Great Felted Bags". You do not have to become a member to Wowio.com (which is free) to read the book, but it is a great service and they offer a wide variety of books at no charge that can be read on-line. They even have a pretty extensive craft collection covering framing, knitting, crocheting, and more. If you choose to become a member, you can even download the book in a PDF format for off-line viewing!
