I went to a couple yarn stores to find the pattern for this "mink" stole:

http://www.patonsyarns.com/patternbook.php?PBS=500816%20

But no luck.

I think it would be perfect on top of my wedding dress because it does have to go over my head like a poncho and if I put the opening in the back the detail of the dress will still show. The wedding is at the beginning of September and in Ontario, Canada, you never know what to expect as weather... I have to say even now but that is another subject.

Do you think that if I make a rectangle long enough to cover my shoulders it will look the same? :think

I bought a kind of Fur like yarn and I don't want to :2frog :2frog :2frog too much, it is difficult to do with all the little thread hanging and it doesn't stay nice and fluffy

Any advise?

Thanks a bunch

Thanks Elizabeth,

I went to to the site and I found out ... by reading this time, I did not notice the first time... that it is a knit not a crochet. With your experience, do you think that if I crochet a rectangle it would fall nicely?

Here are several patterns in crochet that could be classified as stoles. One is for sale and the other one is free.

That's all a stole is, a big rectangle. I don't see why you couldn't do one.

That one from Bernat's does look pretty darn close to the one she posted.

i think you need a trapezoid...

you know a little smaller around the top

so you could either start at the top and increase down or start at the bottom and decrease up..
