Hi Crochetvillers!
My boyfriend often goes to LARP (Live Action Role Playing) which is medieval-like. He needs for the cold days something for his head and now wants me to crochet a hood or chaperon with a liripipe.
For those of you, who don´t know, what it is, here an example: http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/cloth/hoods.html
Does anybody know a pattern for this or has an idea to make?
I would love to hear, what you think about this.
Greetings from Germany

Hi Tine! I live in Wisconsin where it's cold, I'm a fan of the Middle Ages, and I'm trying to do the same thing. It would be handy for shoveling the sidewalk, which is our regional sport here.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find a crochet version of the chaperon anywhere. I know that there was a very nice knitted version of it, but that site has disappeared. This is one knit version I found, but I would personally change the back of the hood if I were to knit it. http://szarka.typepad.com/sca/2007/02/chaperon_patter.html

As far as crochet...I'm thinking about combining a capelet like this one (minus the pompoms, leaving the front open for buttoning or not, depending on the look you want) http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/proj_cr_1099.html
with a hood like this one http://crochetme.com/patterns/winter-hood-coat-or-jacket. You could crochet the hood directly on to the capelet, adding a liripipe to the back.

I don't know if this will work but I'm going to try it today. Good luck!
