I saw a picture of a Hello Kitty style Game Boy case that someone had made
but she offered no pattern, which led me to ask...

Does anyone have a such a pattern... or... can anyone more talented than I
create a pattern or patterns for some creative cases that would snugly hold
these portable games? :think

I need a pattern to fit Game Boy Advance and one for Game Boy DS. Acutally
one for a Sony PSP, too but I think it's similar size except the PSP is
longer and thinner than the DS.

Anyone with a link or a talent for creating patterns please send 'em my way.
Would love to have the Hello Kitty style for the girls and plain styles for
our boys.

TIA!!! :rock

First measure across your gameboy then ch a ch long enough to measure across the bottom of the gameboy. Then sc in second ch and in each across the continue crocheting around the other side of the ch stitches. Then increase a couple of stiches until it's wide enough on the bottom then begin sc rws until it's tall enough. Then you can make a ch loop at the top to close it up and add a button to the ohter side of the top. You can then crochet a head and ears or cut them out of felt and glue on, add a face with paint or stich it on.

Very cool! Do you make up your own patterns for the dolls??
I can't make up my own patterns (yet!) so I appreciate that talent. :)

Yes I do and dog sweaters I love making all things silly like that. I think after you try it and get a little practice you will might find out you like making your own things rather than using patterns.

I think that's great - and you're right, I can't wait to learn for myself as there are so many things waiting to be crocheted and no patterns to crochet them!! :D

ROFL :laughroll

That's okay!! I did get the main case finished last night tho' (I cheated in hdc's after I did the initial bottom pc. like you told me). This one's not HK as it's for a son. He's deciding on a strap choice, but I have it posted now through my site links. It's my first ever made-up pattern! :cheer

Thanks again for the help -- and the welcome!! :c9

sorry - I do need to put a link on the main page (argh!) as it's a bit confusing having to click on the "Crochet Buddies" pink link. :think

yes - it worked great and was ez for me - and I've never made anything like this before... just started crochet in rounds last week :lol I soooo appreciated the help on this and am going to start a Hello Kitty one next for youngest daughter. I'm SO excited!!

we have the button and strap styles for this first case determined now and will get adhesive and velcro to finish it off (the back strap is so son can put it around his arm or leg and velcro shut)

putting up new pics tonight :c9

... I must think about how to make the case manly!

When making my son's I just did it plain - no ears, etc - and used dark blue. You can use velcro (held on by sewing or with a good adhesive for worsted yarn) to close the flap instead of a button, if you want and I stuck to a shorter strap on top similar to the nylon cases you can buy for them. I didn't like the idea of the arm/leg strap but son did so I added that, too. You can skip that part and/or create your own custom strap - that part way EASY. :)

WooHoo!! I'm so jazzed!! I did the Hello Kitty version for my youngest daughter yesterday - my sewing (face) isn't the best but it came out so cute!! Instead of a flap, I fashioned a strap so it's more like a little purse. She loves it & I'm happy to have something original (no pattern) and successful under my belt!! :cheer :clap :c9 :yay
