It seems diamond and I had the same idea today-a Cathedral Window Afghan CAL.

I have some space and can host it if anyone's interested, I've started this afghan but it will go slow so that maybe I won't have to frog it too much.

I even made a button:

http://img216.echo.cx/img216/7129/cathwindcal1md.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us/)

It's hosted at ImageShack so if some of you don't have webspace to host images you can link to it with no problems.

Email or PM me for any other details.

Edit: Here's a list I have so far, if it needs correcting one way or another let me know so I can correct it

Where can I find the pattern?

I can't see the button so can you email it to me directly? (This computer is wiggging out on me and i can't see images for some reason...even on my own website lately) so I apologize for the problem.

Oh, I would love to make what is one of the most gorgeous afghans I've ever seen. BUT I don't have the pattern either. In all my huge stash of crochet magazines, leaflets, and booklets, this is one pattern that I do not own.

Would love the see pictures of the work in progress though.

I'm so in on this. As I thought I can't get decent yarn for it locally so I'll be ordering either tonight or tomorrow and starting it as soon as I get my yarn in. Question: Has anyone used TLC Essentials yarn, and were they happy with it? I'm looking at that and considering it, but since I can't find it locally to give it the touch test I'm a little hesitant to order it blind -- particularly for something this special!

Diamond, I know you said you were using Simply Soft; what type of yarn are you using, Chatty?

I have started it 3 times, frogged it once. I don't have much time, so it is very slow going. I have finally gotten past the hexagon stage and am now doing the "rounds". Not sure what you would call them. I have all my yarn, and so I feel like I have to be committed to the project, or just simply be committed!!! :eek

Hey y'all. I'm so happy you are going to be making this incredible afghan. It is well worth it!!

I have posted a pic of the one I made a few years ago. The photo is bad because it was taken pre-digital, but you'll get the idea.

The leaflet was published by Annie's Attic in 1996, and I believe is out of print. It's called Award-Winning Afghans, leaflet #878301. I've heard it is available on eBay from time to time.

When it comes to crochet, there are no rules against changing colors of a pattern. Do whatever colors you like.

Thanks for the cheerleading Drew :D

I'll get to work on a site to host pics in the next day or so, don't think we'll need it anytime soon but it gives me an excuse to play with HTML :wink

In the mean time just link back to this thread with the button, I'll put it on my blog later, I was gone all afternoon and I'm pooped right now, it's also almost bedtime for this old hooker :wink

Again, thanks for the interest, I know it'll be a loooooooooooooooong CAL :D

The orginal pattern calls for lt variegated (such as Red Heart Ocean) and a dark variegated (such as Red Heart Gemstone-purples, black, maroon, teals). These are the colors I'm using. So, blues & purple variegateds.

I know exactly what you mean, Elizabeth; I've spent the past two days poring over yarn sites trying to find some pretty variegateds that are at least halfway affordable. I think I'm going to end up using the TLC Essentials; it's not gorgeous hand-dyed wool which is what a work of art like this deserves, but it's got some nice colorways and I can afford it ;)

I have a question about this.....a friend thought this would make a beautiful shawl....soooo...what do you think of this being worked up in a lace weight type yarn and then made into a shawl? Do you think it's do-able? If so, I just might be up for the challenge if I can find the right yarn.

so......what's your input?

WOW! I had never thought of that but I can picture it being a shawl! I think it's do-able for sure. It would have to be a really light weight yarn like mohair. I hope you try it cuz I would love to see it!

I remember seeing this afghan pattern many years ago. Sadly, I did not purchase it. And seeing it again makes me really want to make one, too. I've already done some looking and it doesn't appear that I will be able to procure the pattern anytime soon. But thanks to the photos that a couple of you linked to, I was able to enlarge parts of them and decipher a large portion of it. And I think that I will be able to figure out a pretty good replica on my own. I'm not planning on participating in CAL since it may not be exact, but my question is this (and hopefully it is not a silly question): Would it be considered a copyright infringement to copy a pattern from a photo?

dixieredhead
June 28, 2005, 02:48 PM
So I started this CAL today. heres a question. In the first section, when you make the pentagon, is it using a G hook, and both rolls of color B? that just seems a bit much for a G hook?

I can't believe it!! I was thinking the same thing about a shawl!!:eek Instead of doing a complete circle, I was thinking about taking a slice out and making only a 3/4 circle. I would also need to take part of the center area out for the neck. I was wanting to go with something in lighter weight. With the weather I have I would sufficate under acrylic or anything heavy.

Woven N Spun
June 28, 2005, 02:58 PM
I am currently looking at knitpicks.com and their lace weight yarns in yummy alpaca and silk. I am trying to decide my colors and then will order. I like the idea of only doing half of it although you could still do the whole circle and fold it in half for extra warmth for those who might need it.

threeolivemartini
June 28, 2005, 03:11 PM
that shawl idea is nice.. but i want the blanket.. and i think I am going to end up dyeing yarn for this..

like some fishermans wool.. or something.. cause its not too expensive and then I can do my own colours and i will have a wool blanket..

LOL ... I had the shawl thought too, actually laid awake thinking about it last night; I agree about taking a slice out and making it about a 3/4 circle, and I think you'd need to start that process partway through the center hex. I even looked at heavier threads and laceweight yarns today before reality slapped me upside the head. I'm going to make the afghan first, and then if I have it left in me I'll make the shawl ... and I'll know what it looks like because ya'll will have done it already!!

:( I want some verigated yarn so I can start. I would run and get some but I don't think it would be fun running with 3 kids in the pouring rain. I will probably have to wait until thursday when I have to go to Michael's for my cake decorating class, which I have to walk down the yarn aisle to get to it which is pure torture. My work actually pays for the cake class just not for the yarn purchases I "have" to get when I am there.

This is my first CAL and I'm super excited about it. Just knowing that other people are working on the same project as I am is such a cool thing, and already this thread has given the early starters a forum to ask questions and be answered. That was one of my biggest concerns about trying this pattern, not having anyone to turn to if I ran into a total brick wall; I'm going into it confident and excited now instead of hesitant and scared. Hooray for C'ville!

Jen

Wow - those are the same colors I'm planning to do my Cathedral in, as soon as I can a) find the yarn b) afford the yarn and c) have the time! Do post what you get and where from when you find it, okay?

Depending on availability and quality of the materials, I have also been contemplating dying my own variegateds - but that puts my schedule even further away, as I first have to learn to dye, lol! Sure am ambitious, though... :lol

I'm subscribed and following this thread, will join in as soon as I'm ready to start this project. I can hardly wait to see everybody's project, especially the shawl! Oh, and Kimberly: I can tell you now that you will absolutely LOVE the Knit Picks yarn. I adore their laceweight, wish I could get about 20 hanks of each color of both the Alpaca Cloud and Shimmer! How's that for a yarn addict!? What colors did you pick? I'm assuming you're getting the Shimmer, since that's the variegated one... I'm nearly finished with a Seraphina in the Morning Mist, hoping to be ready to post it on Show and Tell within the next few weeks.

Oh, and while I'm on the subject of yarn - what is everybody using, what brand/type and what colors? Is everyone doing the blues/purples for their variegated? Enquiring minds would like to know! :hook

What are you all doing with your Cathedral afghans when they are complete? I'd be almost afraid to use it, considering all the time that it's going to take. Maybe I'll use it in the spare room where it can be displayed but not abused by kids and dogs. Don't think I would ever give it away as a gift :blush

wow...sounds like you all have chosen some awesome colors. I will have to post mine.

I am using knitpicks shimmer for the variegated
http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/yarn_Display.aspx?itemid=5420112
Using stained glass for the dark and
turquoise splendor for the light

then chose
alpaca cloud in
black and smoke for the other colors.

I was afraid to make it the blanket and opted for the shawl idea as I have 1 large dog who likes to sleep on beds, 3 cats who like to bury underneath the blankeys on any bed, and the 5 kids who still aren't up to the appreciation of the work it would take to finish the blanket. So......perhaps if I do make it as a blanket it would be for a gift or later in life for me ggg.

Is there a way to mount this thing on a wall????????

OK I know that this is going to sound like a weird question, but my pattern mags are arranged by size not source at this time. So is the leaflet full sized (8 1/2 x 11) or half size (5.5 x 8)? I have a file cabinet full of patterns and the size will save me MUCH time looking for it. Thanks in advance.

WooHoo!! Just got back from Hobby Lobby with my yarn and will be starting on Cathedral Window this evening - I can hardly wait!! I chose RH Viva for the light varigated, and am using RH Amethyst in leu of the dark varigated...I seriously debated using an RH varigated (can't remember the name at the moment!) with barn red, greens, and rusts with RH Barn Red, but decided the Viva was my favorite, so I will do this one first, and if I can stand to make another one, I will go with the other colors next time...I also seriously debated doing a rainbow effect with solids (Red in the center, shading through the rainbow out to purple on the outside), but decided against that too... yet another WIM! It is so wonderful to have you guys and gals give me so much inspiration!!! :hook

Well, after working up the center (it is beautiful, if I do say so myself!) and starting the pentagons, Amethyst just wasn't looking like I wanted it to, so I made a run back to HL this morning and got something I like much better! I had gone with one strand with the G hood for the pentagons - I guess I crochet more on the tight side. There was no way I could get 11 dc's in that little circle - I could barely get my hook in there!! Anyway, I found RH Sport in "Limeade" which is a perfect match for the green in Viva. I am using a double strand of this with the G hook and it is coming out great! Will post pics as soon as I get the center portion done!

Nobody was trying to be mean or stingy by not offering to sell copies of the pattern; they were trying not to get into legal hot water, and many of us have tried to help others find copies of this pattern. This was discussed in another thread, and I'll quote a response there:

Legally, it's not ok to copy the pattern & share it. It's still an infringement on copyright laws. Copyrights apply for more than the lifetime of the designer, plus some. Just because the pattern is no longer in print doesn't mean it's no longer protected under copyright laws. If you do share this pattern, don't announce it in a public forum!
Any website that is offering to sell ... not just share between friends, but sell ... copies of this booklet/afghan pattern is asking for more legal trouble than they want to handle, and if Annie's Attic gets wind of it they'll be some mighty unhappy people. Folks may share patterns privately (and a lot of us do) but openly violating copyright laws by selling something owned by someone else is about as silly as shoplifting in front of a cop IMHO :)

here is a IMHO--- Do not try using RH "dusk" yarn for this project. The coloring is way to dark in the blues for justice to be given to the black outlining. I'm going to try to find a better dark varigated tomorrow. Anyone have a good RH color to suggest going with my light color (RH ocean)?

I've bounced back and forth between two tabs comparing these two, and it's still hard to tell for sure. I'd suggest maybe just getting one skein of each and working up sample swatches with some black, like Andrea did with her colors. It would be easier to see how they'd work together that way. Better that than buying a busload of the yarn and then deciding it won't work!

Last night I worked on my ghan while DH and I watched some TV and I got most of my first section done. I still have 5 triangles and the assembly to do. I have to agree with Diamond; working with two strands and a G hook isn't a lot of fun, but it is pretty.

My suggestion if you're not doing this already: weave in your ends as you go! I'm weaving mine in except for a little tail on the WS of each piece as I get it finished so I won't have hundreds of tails to do at the end.

I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance.

Thank you for your help. I am thinking that I will use the Ocean as the main veri and the other blue (no name) RH comfort as the dark veri. I love the RH comfort blue, but with the royal blue and black think it will be just too dark and not show off the design so much.

Now if I had only decided before I opened the bags and rolled some yarn. GRRR But I can actually just trade the yarn I haven't opened for more ocean....no harm done. I am stuck with the royal blue, but it is so pretty I am sure I can find something to do with it. That comfort blue would make a nice car coat....after the afghan. LOL

Ok, so I used two strands for the pentagons, my question is what about the black yarn that is sc around the pentagons...is it single or double thickness? Also, I used the G hook as directed and 2 strands and the pentagon is curving inward...will this correct itself, or is my tension too tight? Great round 2 and I am already in a jam. After browsing through the pattern, I've noted that there are only a few sections where it calls for 2 strands (with color B), and at the beginning of the pattern, in the Notes section it states: Use H hook and one strand yarn unless otherwise stated. So I would say it's one strand for the black.

As far as the pentagon curving, I suspect it will correct itself, but this is just an opinion from someone who hasn't done any of this yet! Take it for what it's worth.

After "un-sewing" and frogging the center last night and redoing it this morning, I got the first section assembled, but something isn't right...The pentagons are cupped as others have mentioned, but after assembling it, the center is too! Can someone tell me how they went about sewing the parts together?? I would think it should lay fairly flat (except for the pentagons), but mine is all wacko! At the beginning of section 2, it says to slip stitch in the point of any pentagon, dc...Well, the points of my pentagons are covered by the ends of the triangles! Hey all...I haven't worked on my afghan today at all but thought I would make a couple of comments. First off: I think there needs to be made a correction in the pattern in regards to the Pentagons. On Round 3 it reads: Ch 3, 2 dc in next, *dc in next 4, etc.... It just wasn't working for me has I was missing the 5th ch-1 spacing so I did: Ch 3, (dc,ch1, dc)in next space then continued with the rest of the row as stated. Did anyone else notice this?

Also, in regards to everyone's pentagons curving. My first two were curving and I knew something wasn't right. So on my 3rd pentagon when it came to attaching the black and sc around here's how I got my pentagons to be 5-sided and laying flat without curving. At each ch1 space where you put 2 sc in, I then sc into that first ch after it. This stitch is usually overlapped by the 2 sc but I found it makes a big difference in how the pentagon ends up looking. I then frogged the black on the first 2 pentagons and redid them as the other 6 and they are now flat and perfect pentagons.

So, for those that haven't gotten this far yet, try it the way I did and see if it works for you too.

July 4, 2005, 12:26 AM
Hmmmmy pentagons puff up abit too. It looks like you maybe sewed them together too much? I went through a complete stitch on each matching stich for stitch around them. Also I found that when putting the triangles on I tacked the middle of the triangle to the center seam between the pentagons then sewed each end on. It really helped keep them even for me. I did not use 2 threads in making my pentagons though. So mine dont puff up alot. but it still gives a soft 3-d effect. Here is how far along I am now. IF you need more help just post. I'm still wondering if mine is going to lay down completely when finished. It has ever so small wave around the edges right now. Boy we sure picked a challenge!

And diamond, I noticed the same thing and made the mods to the pattern to even it out as well.

I completely agree with Cheryl! I was going to say something, but others were ahead of me and didn't complain...But I did two pentagons last night as instructed then changed to doing like you did.
I guess great minds think alike:hook LOL. Only I switched to using one strand of yarn all the way through. Hope it turns out.

Wow Stacey - You are making great progress!! You go girl!:cheer Looking at yours, I know I crochet MUCH tighter than you, so maybe that is my problem...I went through both loops of the top "chain" to sew the pieces together, holding right sides together as I did it, in a running stitch...I did sew the pieces pretty tightly because if I sewed more loosely, the sewing yarn showed sort of as a zig-zag between the pieces (if that makes sense!). Can ya'll give me an idea of the diameter measurements of the center octagon and pentagons on yours? I am thinking about just frogging AGAIN (or maybe just start over from scratch and use this one as a pillow top or something!) This afghan is sooo special, and I want mine to look right!!

I also caught the same problem as Cheryl...and fixed it pretty much the same way...

I thought the directions on the pentagons looked whacked, that's another reason I haven't made any more. I'm going to frog the two I've done and redo them.

Thanks, I'm glad others noticed that.

:faint Not really sure what I am thinking (or how in the world I will get enough yarn for this without it costing me $200 to make) but count me in on this CAL! I brought back some yarn with me from the US that I think I can use on this - or at least I should be able to use some of it! ;)

I am having the toughest time attaching my pentagons & triangles. I've frogged it 4 times now and each time they either end up being off-center or facing the wrong way. The instructions just say to sew the pentagons & triangles and I've tried several different methods. How did you all do it? I even sc them together, slip stitch, etc. There has to be an easier way. I have put stitch markers on the right side now to keep them straight but it's driving me crazy. I've also decided NOT to work on this 'ghan at night anymore either. The black is driving me crazy. BTW, the only part I've done so far with 2 strands held together is the pentagons. Everything else I'm doing 1 strand.

Is he MAD?!?!? I'm not sure the afghan is worth that much to me for someone else to make it. I wouldn't buy yarn that's that expensive to make it myself!! As it is, I'm using RH for mine and it's gonna cost over $50 by the time it's all said and done! WOw! $750 for an afghan/wall hanging...:no

thecrochetdude
July 5, 2005, 07:46 PM
Seriously, if it is crocheted at a professional level AND comes with a custom frame to hang it, I am not sure it's overpriced. At this point it's more an artpiece than an afghan, and if you have the house to hang a nine foot tapestry, then I bet $750 seems cheap!

I gotta tap into his clientele! :bounce

PS: if it were an original that he actually designed then he could charge double that.

I can't see the frame too well in the small picture, but it appears to be just PVC pipe that has been connected together into a circle, and then the afghan attached at each point - Very easy to do! Now, that gives me an idea about what to do with mine...many moons from now when I get it finished...My house has cathedral ceilings throughout, down the middle of the house, including our bedroom, so I have a BIG wall that looks very bare, even with a big picture! I have been trying to think of a way to hang it there...I think this would work!:yay

By the way, did anyone ever come up with a good way to sew all the pieces together where it will lay flat and look nice?? I am still struggling with it! Any help will be much appreciated!

I am just now starting the first round of popcorns. Since this is going to be a shawl I omitted the center hexagon and I think I am going to do the small heptagon along the sides so it will border the whole thing. Does that make sense? It's weird working the pattern in rows instead of rounds. I have to be careful which is the right side and stuff...but all in all..so far I am more then pleased.

I might actually make this afghan one day, but right now, I am thinking I would like to do it as a shawl, leaving out 1/4 of the panels. I've been emailing Jackie and she has helped me to decide on some color combinations. Actually, I am buying enough to do 2 different ones because I can't decide which I like better.

I had to make one of each piece, then just crochet a swatch so that I could determine the yardage, but I think I've got it figured out.

Cool, I just love that yarn, and the colors are so bright and rich they really do look like stained glass with the light shining through. I was thinking Blue, green, red and either yellow or purple..... But any decisions will have to wait until friday (PAYDAY :cheer ) and a trip to Wal-mart-- I'll be the one holding the octogon and the pile of skeins with the indescisive look on my face trying to decide what matches and what I like.... Between now and then I have to finish the edging on this shawl, de-dog hair it (I have 3 shedding:angry basset hounds!) and get it to it's intended recipient.

Hi everyone! I love all the 'ghans, and the inspired shawls!!! Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

I'm a newly 'serious' crocheter (@ 5 months now - fooled around w/it when I was younger) and I would love the challenge of trying to make that :coo afghan.

So, if someone would be kind enough to share the pattern with me, I'll hunt down some yarn and join the fun!!!

Thanks in advance,
Diva Born

I mostly lurk around here, but I love that afghan. I'm trying to hunt down the pattern without paying an arm/leg for it. Maybe we should lobby for a reprint?

AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! :bang

I give up! At least until next payday-- I had NO luck yarn shopping. I paid my car insurance first, then, since I was on that side of town I went to michael's and got the homespun I needed for something else, but I didn't get the red heart there because I knew it was a little cheaper at Wal-mart, so I went to the walmart on that side of town. They had the Mexicana but EACH skein was a DIFFERENT dye lot. OTOH, a nice blue and matching ombre caught my eye for a different WIM, so I bought it:) .

I then started on the trek back to my side of town and the other Wal-mart. On the way there I noticed the LYS my boss had told me about the other day. I knew they probably wouldn't lower themselves to selling RedHeart, but I very rarely get to that side of town, and it wouldn't hurt to just LOOK, I wasn't going to BUY anything....$40 and the perfect yarn for a shawl for my mother later I went on to the other Wal-mart. Where they had NO mexicana. They did have the Gemstone which was plan B, but no green to match...

The thread did cach my eye though, (did you know they make it in ocean? Like the yarn? Pretty....I've been meaning to try thread...) so several steel, hooks, balls of thread and dollars later I escaped wal-mart, trying to decide whether to circle back to Michaels or try the Hobby lobby in Coralville (do they sell redheart? I've never been in a HobbyLobby)

And then the state of my empty wallet :angry and full shopping bags:devil hit me.....
So the Cathedral window will have to wait until next payday...

You can click on the link in Post #226 and it takes you to ebay and shows what pattern books are still available - I noticed one for $4.99 but there are still 3 days left on it

My Cathedral Window has taken a back seat to two comfortghans and a doily that need to all be done by August 20. I've finished 2 or 3 of the triangles for the first section, but haven't even looked at it lately. September won't be as busy, so I should be able to work on it then.

well it should come as no suprise to any of you that .. i havent even started this afghan .. UGHHHHHH..

ok .. i am gonna quit stressing but I cant seem to decide what yarn I want.. I am even considering dropping the money on some noro silk garden for this.. i think that would be fabu.. but then I still need two colour variations and then a black for the "outline" and would have to search for a yarn that was similiar to do that .. why do i do this to myself.. why couldnt i just stick to my fishermans wool plan??

tell me?? why do i torture myself so ?

I know that this will be the one and only that i do of this .. so i guess.. i just want to make sure i do it extra NICE !!

Elizabeth, your post made me feel so much better! I haven't started mine either, because ... yeah. I can't decide what yarn I want to use. I actually ordered yarn for it and once I got it and made the first motif, I totally changed my mind. I keep looking and looking, but this is so much work that I want it to be PERFECT, and it needs the perfect yarn to be perfect, and, yeah. I can find one of the two but I can't seem to find two color variations that I love together. So, I keep working on other things while the search continues. I'm so glad I'm not the only one obsessing over this!

wow.. i am not the only one then.. that is what i dont want to do .. order the yarn and not be happy .. so i am taking my time.. and i may go back to the original plan of just dyeing my own if i cant decide soon ..

this is a for me project.. I RARELY do that .. so i am going to spoil me just alittle on this one .. there is no one else in my family or other wise that would appreciate the enormity of this project.. even though they do crochet.. so the search is still on and I will let you all know when i start and what i decide ..

OH! the agony of it all !!

another quick thing too .. is that they o nly give you ounces.. no yardage so .. its hard to find yan substitutes.. because i like to go by yards.. i guess i could try to figure it out cause they probably used like a super saver type yarn .. its just maddening .. when i am trying to find what i need and have no yardage..

I've gotten through 4 or 5 of the triangles on the first round but they hardly look like triangles. I'm hoping it will all work out when I start putting everything together. I have been busy making a housewarming present for a friend. Unfortunately it turned into something unreasonably massive--it's wide enough for a queen size bed! :eek It's a fast ripple but I'm not even half done. I plan on working on this Cathedral window more in September, especially when I have to travel for business. I think making 32 hexagons (or whatever it is) will be a lovely way to fill boring plane trips.:hook

I have pattern in hand (which I'm SOOO excited about! Thank you, Patron Saint of Crocheting:c9 ) & have worn the linoleum out in the yarn section of AC Moore, I have begun!! Hubby thinks I'm nuts & was more than a little worried at the giant bag o'yarn that came in the door this evening...

Like everyone else, this one seems to kicking my tuckus! Whew....I have the octagon & one pentagon done so far & that took me a few hours. I frogged the pentagon a number of times (and, like someone else here who my brain can't recall, I too, ended up with a nine sided octagon!:lol:lol). Not quite sure how I fixed that but I did. Whew.
Also, on rounds 4-5 of the octagon, I think it should say
(Sl st, ch4, dc) in first ch, skip next st, *dc in each st around to next ch-1 sp, (dc, ch1, dc) in next ch-1 sp; skip next dc; repeat from *
(the instructions in red are my suggestions)
The only way I could make the stitch count correct for each round was to skip the dc directly after the dc, ch1, dc corner. (I hope that made sense...lol)
Anyway, I'm really enjoying it, and I'm digging my color choices (I'll post pics as soon as I finish the pentagons in the first section). Let's just say they're "eye catching". I'm making this for me & I wanted something uniquely ME (finally, I'm making something for me:yay)
PS I think this is the coolest thing I've ever crocheted. I've never done a CAL before & I think I love that part the best. I've been involved in other boards & really have gotten disgusted over the politics, infighting & snarking that goes on. I've lurked here for a long time & I've never ever seen that. Thank you everyone for being so very nice & supportive. This board is 'DA BOMB!!!:manyheart

Well, I got lucky and found the pattern, but it's in line behind my mother's Christmas gift...from two years ago.

Can't wait to start though...about how long is it taking? I want to do it for a friend's wedding in April, but I probably won't be able to start until December.

Just a tip: Don't hand a friend/relative your crochet pattern books and tell them to pick an afghan. They will pick the most intricate, time-consuming one.

I hate to admit it, but I haven't started either! I'm still trying to decide what yarn colors to use too. I know I'm using black, but that's about it. I should take some time and go through my stash or go to the stores and check out yarn. I really want to get started on this pattern, so I should see what I can do.

Yep, I learned this lesson a loooong time ago too, and the hard way. I never let anyone see my pattern stash anymore.

I just love :manyheart this pattern.
I bought it at a Franks Nursary and Crafts a couple of years ago on clearance for about $2.50.

I stashed it away in my closet because the pattern looks so hard to do. :think

Since then, I have been learning more and more about crochet and maybe the time is right to dig it out and actually attempt it.
But I don't know. :scared You, who are all so good at this stuff, are even having probs with it.

It's definately something I want to make, but I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet.

Becks, it's a challenge, that's for sure but the stitches that are used aren't exotic or weird-just the basic sc, dc, hdc. The one thing I've found out about the people here @ Crochetville is that someone will always offer to help if you get stuck. It's really a fun pattern to do, honest.
