I'm desperate to make some fingerless mittens! even though it doesn't get very chilly here in Costa Rica, I'm always cold, and there's some mean A/C in my office. So I was wondering if any of you guys has a pattern for some cool fingerless mitts.

You might do just the hand part of these fingerless arm warmers on "Crochet Me":

Yup, there's quite a few here:

I know what you mean about always being cold. I'm thinking of making me some AND a shawl for when I'm on the computer. Our den is cold in the winter because of a huge picture window and cold in the summer because of the AC. LOL

Here are some nice knit and crocheted patterns for fingerless gloves.

if you want the beginnings of fingers, then you could do this pattern (http://www.******************.com/mittglov.htm) (there's a link to women's on the page) without the flip-over mitten part.

I have used this pattern to make for nights in New Mexico.
