I need to make some small gifts for adult women, twentysomething up to seventies. . Looking for ideas. My thread crochet skills are nonexistent.I am making shawls for the older women. Need some other ideas for the younger ones. Thank you:)
P.S. I have about 6-8 weeks to complete them.

I like to make java jackets (http://www.crochetme.com/Feb_Mar_2005/patt_java_jacket.html) for quickie gifts. You can funk them up with novelty yarns or stitch in the back loops only for a ribbed sweater effect. Here's some I've made - I don't seem to have any photos of my subdued ones...

Im making them for the women in my family for christmas gifts. They make great beach bags or a bag to put your tanning supplies in. They are really easy to make and look great!

These patterns are quick and easy and the crocheted items make great gifts. The booklets are available for immediate download or can be ordered in print form. :bounce

What about the AJ AJ Wristbag In The Round (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6510) or the Original AJ Wristbag (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5163) for them?

thanks everyone, my brain just stops from time to time.:)
Of course, bags are always a good idea. And... I just got that bunch of Sugar'n Cream bargain. Then I could try a felted version, too. And I like the market bag idea a lot because at the place where these ladies live shopping is done while walking.
The java jackets would be great, but they don't drink coffee from this type of cup, I know that for a fact.
Drew, your bookmarks would be lovely, but I have to polish my thread crochet skills for that.

I've made a few pairs of these wristwarmers (http://www.hipvintagecrochet.com/WRISTWARMERS.pdf) from www.hipvintagecrochet.com (http://www.hipvintagecrochet.com).
And they've gone down a treat with everyone from my friends to my mum's friends. And they are super-quick, but effective.

I love this little fuzzy felted bag: http://fuzzygalore.biz/patterns/jackieo.shtml. It's been on my to-do list for a while, but I haven't had the chance to make one yet. Looks pretty simple.
I've also seen a lot of cool crocheted belts on the show and tell section lately that looked pretty simple and trendy, that may be another option.
Shrugs also seem pretty big this year, haven't found a pattern I particularly liked so if anyone has a cool one they'd like to share, please let me know.
I've done this Lion Brand Bath Set for a few gifts, it's quick and easy and inexpensive: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/ckc-bathAccessories.html.
Hope that helps!
