All posts in the show and tell folders should comply with our regular forum guidelines, including our free advertising policies (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/advertise_free.php) (which basically state members shouldn't start posts/threads about their businesses or something they're selling in their businesses).

We realize there has been some confusion about how the free advertising policies apply to show and tell, so we're happy to offer some clarification to everyone.

Note: We are just clarifying what has been in place since the free advertising policies went into effect on April 16, 2008, in relation to starting threads in the regular areas of show and tell. However, as an added benefit to our advertising designers, we have created a new "Advertiser Show and Tell" area where they may post items made from patterns they are selling.

We encourage everyone to share their finished items. We love seeing everyone's creativity. Show and tell posts serve as a source of inspiration to us all.

You are welcome to post items made from patterns that do not profit you personally: your own free pattern or somebody else's for-sale pattern. Please feel free to provide information about and a link to these patterns, so others won't have to ask you for that information. You know we're going to ask you otherwise!

If you want to post items made from a pattern that you are selling, you are welcome to post in the Advertisers area of show and tell. You will need to have a current banner ad or marketplace subscription (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/advertise.php) in order to post in the advertisers area. You are welcome to provide information about and a link to these patterns, so others won't have to ask you for that information. You know we're going to ask you otherwise!

Special Tips for Pattern Designers:

Please be sure that any threads about items made from patterns you have available or will have available for sale on your website are placed in the Advertisers show and tell area (6 separate folders).

You may start threads about items made from your published patterns (magazines, yarn company tear-off sheets, books you are not selling, etc.) in the regular areas of show and tell.

If you do not intend to sell a pattern for an item you've made, you may start your thread in any of the regular show and tell areas without making any reference to a pattern.

If you're asked in the thread about a pattern, please state no pattern is available.
If you later decide to make a pattern available for sale, please PM AmyS (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/member.php?u=102) and ask her to move the thread to the Advertisers area (if you're a current advertiser) or to remove the thread from the forum (if you aren't a current advertiser and don't wish to become one).
Deciding to sell a pattern after posting an item in the regular areas of show and tell should happen only infrequently. In most cases, the decision about whether or not to sell a pattern for the item you're showing should be made prior to posting in show and tell. The show and tell folder should not be used as a way to determine market interest in one of your designs.

Threads about items made from a pattern you are selling that are placed in the regular areas of show and tell may be moved to the Advertisers area (for current advertisers) or may be removed from the forum without notice.

Threads will be removed from the Advertisers area upon expiration of an advertiser's banner ad or marketplace subscription.
