Hello, I'm new to the forum and I'm desparately looking for pattern kit
that came from Herrschner's catalog published between 1965-1978, possibly later. The co. has no pattern archieve but, sold this as a kit in 4 dif color combos. My wedding gift afghan was crocheted by (deceased) my aunt in Springfield, MA, 1967,and also needs repair. Would also like to make one for myself. The pattern below and the Herrschner's catalog says that it's a simple shell pattern, a fan or I see a definite Diamond shape. You crochet one direction for the bottom then the other direction
for the top.
I do have a pattern, called "Catherine's Diamond" that shows
a pattern similar to these shells/fans/diamonds.
But, I don't think it's the same pattern.
The afghan might bea variation......
I can email anyone close up photos outside the forum for ease of seeing. Just let me know. nevboomer AT sbcglobal DOT net (nevboomer@sbcglobal.net)
This afghan is very special to me since my aunt, my mom (sisters) and husband are deceased very young.
Thanks to anyone who has any leads to my search.
Bonnie

Have you called Herrschners? Some of the workers have been there for years!
Also, one of the kits I wanted came out a couple years later in a series of books they publish every year that has their "award winning" afghan patterns in it. There are several books all listed by the year and then the catagory.
Perhaps, it made it into one of those books.
There is a fiesta throw on their site, but I dont think that is the one you are talking about.

I think there's a lot of people on Crochetville with long memories. If you could post a photo or a link to a photo, someone will likely recognize it.

Bonnie, due to copyright laws and our forum guidelines, nobody would be able to make a copy to send to you. However, somebody may have purchased the kit, made the afghan, and still have the original pattern available. If so, maybe they'll be willing to sell it to you, trade it for something, or even send it to you for free.

Good luck in your search!

Boomer there another pattern out there called a star shell afghan the pattern is free. Another is Catherine's wheel Stitch Afghan. Stitches seem to be what your looking for. http://madcrochetingfool1.blogspot.com/2008/08/catherines-wheel-pattern.html

Hello, I checked out the pattern and amazingly it looks like "It's Fiesta Time" from Herrschner's Catalog from the 1960's..... I will show to some friends that crochet to better verify for me. Thanks again, Bonnie

Hi again, I ck'd out Catherine's Wheel and it's not the pattern. My sister seems to think it's Catherine's Diamond out of the Encyclopedia of Crochet book. I can send you the close up digital photos by email to clarify. nevboomer AT @sbcglobal DOT net (nevboomer@sbcglobal.net)
Thanks again, Bonnie

Well....that didn't take long. Sometimes I think looking for patterns is like looking for a needle in a hay stack in my "libarary" of patterns.

If your afghan is exactly like the Herrschners pictures you have, here is your pattern on ebay. It is in the book called Afghans for all Seasons and the pattern is called Spring Clover on page 14 done in shades of green. It was printed in 1993 by Leisure Arts.

Hardcover: ISBN 0-942237-23-4
softcover: ISBN 0-942237 - 24-2

Library of Congress Catalog Number: 93-077419

There is a picture of the afghan on this link, that is why I am posting that link. You may wish to bid on another, although this seems well priced with buy it now and you don't have to wait around and bid on it. Or you may find it through Amazon.com or some other online book seller. Just be sure you buy the above ISBN numbers for either the hard or soft cover since this was the first of the series. I have the hardcover edition and I find those nicer. There are some other beautiful patterns in the book. Hope this helps, Mary

Thank you Mary and TallGirl and anyone else for all your help....I'm rather new to this forum and am having trouble navigating through the site which is frustrating. When I get to where I want I can't always get back to where I was. But, I have corrected my mistakes.
Have a good evening......... Bonnie
