I was looking for a really nice scarf or wrap pattern to make and came across this image of a beautiful wrap called "Amber waves of grain". I tried using the email listed to get in touch with them about the shawl but it bounced back to me. I would love to find a pattern for this. I think it's gorgeous.

It's knit. It looks like a simple feather & fan pattern. http://knitting.about.com/od/stitchglossary/g/feather_fan.htm

The description says it's knitted. There may be something similar and you could check out crochetpatterncentral.com.

Thanks to you both for your responses. Too bad it's knitted, I am not experienced with knitting but maybe I can substitute the pattern for crochet waves and fans.

I guess this pattern is more basic than I thought because I'm finding feathers and fans all over the place now. Here's another one I found (http://knitti-me.blogspot.com/Wave-Shell%20Stole%20008.jpg) that looks very similar to the amber shawl, with better detail to see up close. It's very pretty.

Yeah, it's a very standard pattern. It's the first one I was taught when I learned to knit. I never did finish that one, but I've made one since. It's my favorite afghan :)

This pattern from Lion is a close approximation in crochet. http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80426AD.html?noImages=0 (you might have to register to gain access to the pattern, but it's totally free.)

I was searching for this pattern and came across this forum. Tangerine posted a picture of a beautiful feather and fan afghan that was multicolored. I'm hoping somebody can tell what yarn was used, this would make a perfect afghan for a baby shower. Thank you!

Look at this website http://www.woolcrafting.com/ripple-scarf-pattern.html for a free pattern. I think it is about the closest I've seen to the feather and fan stitch!

Just looking at it, it doesn't look like it would be to hard to change this pattern to crochet, as it looks like a ripple type of pattern. Of course you would have to find the proper yarns.
