Does anyone out there know the waffle stitch. It is in my new Annie's Catalog. I think it is a stitch I did over 30 years ago. You use 2 different color yarns and single crochet. The itemm turns out one color on one side and the other color on the other.

Forget about the waffle stitch. I have found what I was looking for. It is a reversible stitch. I have tried the pattern and figured out how to do it. Accomplished. Now I will try to make some dishcloths with this pattern.

Ok, this is not fair.:)

Now you got me curious. How do you do it?

I haven't made one of these for a while. It's really neat how it turns out. One note~if you use a really dark color with a really light color, a slight bit will show through the other side. I saw on a website a few years ago someone who made one of these with Homespun. That's got to be really warm!

It's a little weird starting, but after a few rows, it's old hat.

That sounds like Helena's Potholder Stitch (http://web.************/web/20010424061938/http://www.spotfans.com/unplugged/spotfans/archives/980113/Cheryl/potholder.html). How do they (Annie's Attic's waffle stitch book) get the colors to show through with the yellow pillow and afghan? Is the technique the same or do there a trick to it?

The Waffleweave Stitch from Annie's is reversible BUT it doesn't come out one color on one side and one color on the other! You can see both colors on both sides (I have both of the Waffleweave books from Annie's).

It makes a very dense fabric that is WARM. It is patterned after thermal underwear. You use a bigger hook than you think you would or it is too dense. You want the air pockets in there to make it more insulating.

I like this stitch but it uses a lot of yarn.

Is it at all like this thermal stitch (http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/13kids/preemie.shtml)?
