Now I've never crocheted an apron but . . . isn't really just a square with a band across the top? :think
The sewn aprons I have have the square part gathered a bit where its sewn to the band. So you would want to crochet the square a little wider to make up for the pleats/gathers you would make.
Then maybe you could make a flower motif or a heart and sew it on the bottom corner of the apron. I would also think you would want to use a cotton yarn as opposed to an acrylic.
I would love to know what others think or if they know of a pattern.

You can crochet a border an a tea or dishtowel and crochet a band for a cute apron.

Thanks to both replies! I saw a pattern somewhere I just don't know where. I could try this, I'm just really bad at doing things from scratch. LOL

This is a very pretty one http://lullabiesandlace.com/motherdaughterapronset.html. I am not sure if she is still maintaining and selling from the site, though as she indicated at the beginning of the year that she was planning to give up the crochet design business...

Priscilla Hewitt has one for an adult size. Perhaps you could size it down with smaller yarn and hook?
