HI there:

I was looking at Youtube the other day and they have a tutorial of a granny square motif tote...

I'm looking for a written instruction pattern for such tote as the tutorial on youtube has lots of sections and i just can get them to go in a row..

Now it sort of looks like this front and back panels consists of
9 granny squares each of 3 rows ...
Then for the bottom and the sides they are three squares each
the straps are sc the lenght you want ...

I just need more or less how too's to assemble this sort of tote...

Has any one seen some pattern like this

hugs

well if i didn't have pattern going by what you mentioned I would sew 9 squares together to make big square.
then sew the 9 squares in long row for side and bottom and side. then I would sew the front and back big square to the long row of squares.does that make sense?

Each granny square is an x. I know this doesn't look very square because it's done with typeface.

Join them in a flat shape as above; the horizontal piece is the bottom & sides, the parts above and below are the front & back. See how the red dots form L shapes; For each L, fold each arm of the L together and sew (don't connect different Ls). On the top left as an example, you would match the 1's, the 2's, and the center unnumbered dot is where you make the fold.

Ohhh my dear friends...
Thanks sooo much for your help..

I got that part straight but my question is what would be the best way to connect it all ..
sew it with yarn or sc then together.....???

Thats what i wanted to find in the youtube tutorial and it just goes on and on and on from sections I thought i was going to die..

So what you do sc it togehter or hand stitch it together???

If I was doing this I would either sl st or sc each square then decide if I wanted the ridge on the inside or outside depending on the look you want.

Okay Ladies thanks you sooooo much for your input...
I will begin to make the squares out of my scrap yarn stash.

Do you ladies or would you ladies crochet the straps with one strand of ww or two strands...
I think i would do with two but what would you most likely do?

I agree 2 strands, I think that would be sturdier & stretch less; also agree with Craziebunny on crocheting the squares together, not only is it easier but I think it's sturdier as well (I am rough on purses and totes :blush)
