Is there a way to have our own searchable database of crochetville members' patterns? There are a lot of talented and generous people in here but it's kind of tough remembering where I saw a pattern or even what to search on. It would be cool to be able to have something like crochetpatterncentral that has categories and stuff like that. However, I know that would be more work for you!

The forum software doesn't really give us directory features like over at crochetpatterncentral.

The best suggestion I can give you is to keep a list of your favorite Crochetville designers (maybe send a PM to yourself with that information). Then you can use the Advanced Search feature to find patterns by any of those designers. Enter the person's username, and select "Find Threads Started by User" in the pull-down menu. Then go to the "Search in Forums" pull-down menu and select any of the following:

Free Original Patterns
Free Original Patterns -- Links
Original Patterns -- Published
Patterns for Sale

You can click any combination of those forums together by holding down the Control key while you click on the forum names. Your results will include only information that has been posted here on the forum.

If you're talking about creating a searchable database for all patterns a particular member might have available for purchase or for free anywhere outside of Crochetville, that functionality doesn't exist within the forum software.

Donna and I are working on a number of other time-intensive projects right now, but one thing we're considering for the future is splitting up the Free Original Patterns folders into subforums, similar to the Show and Tell area, although probably not nearly as extensive with the total number of subforums. We don't need as much subdivision, since there aren't nearly as many threads in the pattern areas. Perhaps we could just use the main subdivisions used in Show and Tell. Does that sound like it would help accomplish what you're wanting to do?

Just a FYI, I do try to add links to CPC (Crochet Pattern Central) to the patterns posted on Crochetville (that have photos).

Here's my suggestion. Couldn't there be a sticky with the pattern categories, and whatever category the pattern falls under, put a link under that category to it.
