There are a couple of patterns on Crochet Pattern Central. Leisure Arts Leaflet 250. It is called Fisherman Crochet Afghans. Leisure Arts Pamphlet 106. More Fisheman Crochet. This one has a pattern for a hat besides things. Hope this helps.

I like the pattern in the latest crochet today magazine. It has a star shape motif.

Priscilla Hewitt has a really pretty one on her website here. (http://www.priscillascrochet.net/freepatterns.html) it's called the aran afghan. I have this one on my list to do.

Here is a pattern for a 'classic aran afghan'. You need to join the site but it's free.

:manyheart And popcorns are my favorite stitches. You've received some great ideas here, and I just want to add that I've tried several of them. I've made one of the fisherman afghans in the Coats & Clark booklet cited, as well as the Summer Lilacs afghan. They both turned out great.

And I've been working on the gorgeous popcorn star afghan in the current Crochet Today magazine. The latter is a lot easier than it appears. Though I've done a couple of practice motifs and joined them in scrap yarn, I have yet to find "the perfect yarn" in "the perfect color" to make this pattern for my living room.

Thanks to each of you. Now I have three more patterns that I want to do.. I will use the round one of PH's, Skipping Stones Circular for my GD. She wants a round one..
I fell in love with the "Summer Lilacs" I want it in the same colors... The third one is not in front of me and I have forgotten the name of it..
Again thanks to each and everyone of you and have a great day crocheting..:hug
