Hey, I'm looking for a cute skinny scarf I can make and wear by the first day of spring. Mostly I have WW, but I have a few novelty yarns too. I Really dont want something bulky, just something I can wear with a nice Tshirt and not look rediculous in High School. I saw one that was black with pink weaved through it, and that looked awesome, but there was no pattern and I cant find something similar. Can anyone help me? Oh, and I already checked CPC up and down.

One skein scarf is pretty and easy. You can do it in a day or two. You can use almost any yarn you want. Do the main part in black and the edging in pink or vice versa.

I've made this one for myself, but also for the 17-year-old exchange student living with my daughter. She has worn it quite a bit, and my daughter assures me that a teenager wouldn't wear something if she didn't like it! And she's a pretty cool dresser.

I've made several Queen Anne's Lace scarves (named after the wildflower of the same name). A pattern with no picture is here http://1craftyboy.wordpress.com/2007/12/11/okey-dokey/
But if you go to the ravelry.com forum, you will find pictures of it made by several people in some beautiful yarns. You do, however, have to register (free) there. Other versions are shown on etsy.com if you search under Queen Anne's scarf.

If you use a nice, soft, not-too-thick yarn, it will be plenty skinny and drapy for wearing with t-shirts. I've made both kinds -- for warmth and for embellishment only.

Another way to make one that is different from the run-of-the-mill is to crochet enough small flower motifs to sew or crochet together to add up to about 60 inches in length. I've done a couple of those from a floral strip afghan pattern, but because of copyright issues, I can't provide it here. However, if you google, you probably will come up with a small, pretty flower motif.

I like the Luna scarf in Post #2, and found another version of it that you might like http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=238536.0
I think I'll try one of those myself.

I was going to tell you to use this one too!
However I lost the online pattern. :(
I have made a few of theses. I have made them with a stripe down the middle and the same color for the shelled out side. Everyone has loved it!

That is one of the prettiest scarf patterns I've seen!!! Absolutely gorgeous! I loved looking through all the photos & seeing the different yarns that folks have used on it - over 400 projects posted on that pattern!:D

It's in my project queue & I've got several yarns set aside already - started on my first one a little while ago, for a design that appears rather intricate, it is a surprisingly easy pattern!

I really liked this pattern: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/cff-goodieBagScarf.html

You work a strand of Lion brand boucle with a strand of Fun Fur or other eyelash yarn; I found they work up fast and are very festive.

If you like the Queen Anne scarf, you may like the one I've been making from the Victorian afghan on the cover of Terry Kimbrough's Best Afghans. All you do is follow the pattern for one strip of connected flowers for the afghan, then add the picot border as directed. I bought the book just for that, but I'll probably make a couple of the whole afghans, too, because they are lovely.

I get so frustrated with the way this forum works. I don't know how to find out if I have replies to my posts without scrolling down all of them. And I don't know how to post a reply to a poster who did not post the starting message in a thread. Thus your moniker in the header.

Oooh, sounds lovely - I had thought of that & looked through some afghan books to see if I could find a suitable 'strip' - didn't find any that I really liked though - I'll have to keep an eye out for her book - and check your projects to see what yours looks like!

I don't think you can. Here, you can quote someone to visually show that you're replying to their post & you can subscribe to individual threads and receive notification when there are any new posts in that thread at all but AFAIK, you can't see a "quick list" of any replies made directly to your own postings throughout the entire forum, or get notifications only of direct replies to your posts - But you can get notified of any replies made to the message thread as a whole If you go under thread tools, you can 'subscribe' to a thread you've posted in.

I know what you mean - that other way does spoil you :) - I think they have their message system custom-written to allow for that - I've never seen any 'pre-built' forum software that quite did that, even w/ all the add-ons/hacks/mods available.

I've been on another crochet forum for years, and just haven't taken the time to really learn the ins and outs of this one. But since there's so little traffic on the other one these days, it's hardly worth checking in there. I haven't posted photos of my stuff here for the very same reason: old dogs, new tricks, and all that. Funny you should mention, I was just now trying to figure out how to quote someone. . . I'll get there . . .

I found it after you posted it! I swear it used to be on the Lion Brand Yarn site but then it just went a way!
It's also in the happy hooker book that's where I found it to start off with.
Then I found it online, and people love free patterns!!!! I had been looking for it online again, and had no idea where it had gone until I saw your post!
Thanks!!!:manyheart

One more idea: the Happy Hooker One-Skein scarf pattern here http://homepage.mac.com/jeffhaywood/craftsanity/page34/page34.html
Today, I just pulled out and wore one that I'd forgotten, which I'd made last year from that pattern, and got compliments on it from strangers all day. I made the basic scalloped skinny scarf pattern with Bernat Berella 4 Soft Heather -- about five feet long -- and sewed on simple crocheted floral motifs of the same yarn at intervals of about every other scallop or so.

There is a cute cherry blossom scarf I've been planning on making for a long time now. This particular scarf is knitted, but there are so many beautiful crocheted flower patterns available, you should have no problem substituting. It will definitely be an attention grabber in a GOOD way!
