I posted a topic a few days ago about a granny square that I was having trouble with the pattern for. I tried about 4 times before I finally finished one, & it still isn't perfect. I added some stuff to it to test a couple of techniques for two other projects I want to work on, & was just about to throw it into the scraps bin when I noticed that it fit perfectly around my roommates ashtray! I cleaned it up (the ashtray), sewed the corners up to make it stay on, and now have a pretty... thing. Potpourri holder maybe? I'm taking suggestions ;) Anyway, pics! :D

use it as a skittles dish. (if it's cleaned out well) Never can have enough skittles lying around and the colors would go with the yarn.

Very clever. I'd suggest using it as a candy dish but considering it's former life as an ashtray... well.... :yuck

clever....imagine if you bought some clear glass plates and made cozies for them? Would look like removable art!!! Love the idea.
