I am looking for a pattern for the afghan that looks like you took an afghan and turned it so its a diamond shape and laid it on a larger afghan that is squared i hope this makes sense see i dont even know what its called so im having a heck of a time finding it heheheheheh
Janny
you know what i bet it was a row count and it gave the illusion of the diamond in the square it didnt have a pattern or anything with it

If I am remembering what I think you mean...
You make your large square granny ghan and then you work the cluster groups along each edge and decrease as you go to turn the square... so to speak.
Does that sound like what you mean?

i would wing it by crocheting the dishcloth pattern where you start with a corner and increase at the begining and end of the rows until it was wide enough, then decrease at the begining and end of the rows until it came to a point.
with the contrasting color crochet along one side decreasing at the begining and end of the rows until it came to a point, repeat on the other three sides. i would then have a diamond in a square.;)

I found most of mine by using a search engine like Google or Dogpile and typing in Diamond in a Square crochet pattern or Diamond in a square crochet afghan pattern... search words like that.. and all sorts of things popped up. Is what you are looking for an actual afghan pattern and it looks like one big block or is it multiples of the same pattern of diamonds in a square? Do you remember the colors of the one you saw so as we are searching we could have a better idea as to whether we found it? And do you remember if it was a free pattern or one that costs money?
