need help finding a good pattern! please

i need to find a poncho pattern for a one yr old girl, i tried making one and it was way small :(
also.. does anyone know how to loom knit?
i was wondering if i could make a flat piece on a round loom (and how)
or do i have to buy a straight loom?

I know you can make a flat piece on a round loom, although I haven't done it. All you have to do is not join the circle, but work back and forth.

My mom has done this but the edges curl badly even after blocking!
