Doing the Zebra Slide - 15" doll
This outfit uses Black and white yarns that are mill ends. I would guess they would be about a 3.5 weight on the yarn scale as they are not a thick as the usual 4/Worsted weight yarns. The hot pink yarn is RH Kids ™.. the plain pink is RH Comfort. I used a 4mm hook. DNBO = Do Not Break Off The leggings Legs: make 2. Please note that you could make these pants to any length you would like I am going full length but you could stop at Capri length, Bermuda shorts length or even short shorts. Depends on your own view of “cool”. Just adjust your starting chain if you start higher on the leg. These are a very close fit so you would want to adjust this for a different leg length With black yarn and 4.mm hook chain 16… Row 1: ch2(or 3) ,dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next, dc to end. Join. Secure black but DNBO Row 2: att white … dc around but work Tr into hdc on row 1. Join. Secure white but DNBO. Row 3: w/ black … dc around but work one increase. Join. secure black DNBO(17) Row 4: w/white… work in dc around BUT work one hdc randomly and make one increase. (17 dc- 1hdc) Row 5: w/ black… work in dc but work Tr into hdc and increase by one dc. Join secure black but DNBO Rows 6 – 10. Continue to work in alternate colours and with 1 increase per row staggered over the rows. DNBO the black after row 9 on the 2nd leg (24 DC at the end of row 10) Torso Row 1: Align the two legs and join together with sc in 6 sts w/ the black yarn, ch 1, dc in same stitch as last joining on the left facing leg, … Place markers at 5 stitches before and 5 stitches after the Centre Back joining. Pic shows CB and stitches marked with contrasting colour thread… àdc in 14, [2dc in next, dc in next, 2dc in next, dc in next 2 dc in next] over the five marked stitches, (dc, Tr, dc) in CB join, repeat [], dc in 14, dc in rt leg joining st, join. Secure black but DNBO (44 dc, 1 Tr was my stitch count… as long as you are close.. )Attach white at CB. T-Row 2: dc evenly around in white. Join but DNBO T-Rows 3 to 5 : Continue to work evenly with alternating colours. Do not secure black on row 5… T-Row 6: w/black… work a sc row over an elastic waistband, secure and break off. The Top… I would suggest that you pick you black yarn carefully. Mine was a very matte finish and it was very difficult to see stitches. This is one reason this took so long . I could only work on it if the sun was shining brightly during the day. Ok, I have old eyes but just be forwarned. With black and 4.mm hook Ch30 Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, 2 dc in every ch across. Ch 1 turn Row 2: sc in every dc, (58 sc) Row 3:dc in 8, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in 8, 2 dc in next 2, dc in 17, 2 dc in next 2, dc in 8, 2dc in next 2, dc in 9. cg 1 and turn Row 4: sc in 11, ch1, sc in 12, ch1, sc in 21, ch1, sc in 12, ch1, sc in 10. Begin separation into sections Row 5: dc up to and into ch1sp, ch 1 and turn Row 6: Sc across each dc. Row 7: dc in each dc. Secure and break off yarn. Work rows 5-7 for the front and the other back section. Work from ch 1 space to ch 1 space or end as needed. NOTE: you should be at the back edge again. If not, break off and attach yarn there. Row 8: sc across all the stitches from Row 7 so that the sections become joined again. Row 9: dc in each st across. (43 dc- it’s what I got )Row 10: sc in 3, 2 sc in next across Row 11: hdc in 4, dc in 19, hdc to end. Ch 1 turn Row 12: sc across Row 13: hdc in 5, 2 hdc in next , [dc in 5, 2dc in next] X 3, hdc in 28. Row 14: sc in 33, hdc in 5, [hdc dc, hdc] in next, hdc in 5, sc to end. Row 15: dc in 17. 2dc in next 2dc, dc to end Row 16: Sc across bottom edge and break off. White trim edging… Attach white in upper right back edge. Work down this edge with sc and create 3 button loops if you wish to use buttons, work across the bottom with [sc in 3, long sc in next], Work up the back left edge in sc, work across the neck edge with [ ch 3, sc in next] secure and break off yarn when you get back to your start location. Tidy all ends. Attach trim as you wish. The MP3 player and headset… Head set. I formed the shape with two vinyl-covered wires . I threaded each wire through a set of the button holes and wound the wires back along the shafts. I worked a sc over the wires just to keep it black. The ear phone portions (buttons) are covered with Hot Pink and Pink Yo-yos (2 rows- one in dc the second in hdc) slip stitched together so as to keep it all ‘loooooking gooood’ ![]() The MP3 player is formed using the Hot Pink Kids ™ yarn with the 4 mm hook Row 1: Ch 2, 4 hdc in 2nd ch from hook. (5hdc) Row 2-3: hdc in each hdc. Join. Row 4: over the 5 sts… work hdc dec, hdc, hdc dec. join. Break off leaving a long tail – about half a yard just to be sure… Work tight chain that is long enough to go from the shoulder to the headset and sew in place on the headset. See the picture. Sew a pin back in place Please note: I am still getting used to the new photo system. I can't see what pics are posted without flipping back and forth . They look right in the preview but... well... let's see how it goes. ![]() Copyright: Darlene Cutler - 2009 I do not have a problem with people/groups using my patterns to make a little extra money by physically making them and selling the items they make. However, I do not permit the selling of my patterns for money. I have once given permission for a booklet to be made of them for a charitable sale and I may do so again *if I am asked* and if it is for a church, charity or school type group. But first you have to ask. Furthermore, If you choose to use my patterns as a money maker, I do not permit my images to be used for any advertizing of your work. You must make your own item and photograph that. These images are as much a part of my Web image as a designer as the patterns are and I reserve that use to myself alone. Darski, I love your patterns. I hope to be able to make them all for my DGD, age 3. I'm not quite sure if the pattern is all there for the TOP. Rows 9 and 14 are not quite clear because of the way they end...see below.
Row 9: dc in each st across. (43 dc- it’s what I got J Row 14: sc in 33, hdc in 5, [hdc dc, hdc] in next, hdc in 5, sc in ( I hope that you can remedy my confusion. Thanks and keep on designing...you are terrific! Deborah |

I understand completely about the brain vacationing without you...I recently became guardian of four of my grandchildren, ages 2, 3, 5, and 6...soon to be 7. After years without children in my home, it is a mega-adjustment. I frequently forget alot of things. Deborah

this is so adorable! My first Grand daughter is due this week; I feel if I start working on all the Dora clothes, I should be done for when she's old enough for the doll!
