SKILL: Easy

MEASUREMENTS: 15 to16 1/2 " x 60"

STITCHES: single crochet (sc); chain (ch); double crochet (dc)

OTHER ABBREVIATIONS: skip (sk); space (sp); stitch (st)

YOU WILL NEED: J/10-6.00mm; K/10 ½-6.50 (optional for foundation chain)
approximately 15oz /720 medium weight yarn. Scissors and stitch markers

This project was made using Bernat Satin. A good substitute would be Caron Simply Soft.

With K hook, chain 194. Switch to J hook

ROW 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in ea ch across. (193 sc) turn

ROW 2: ch 1, sc in next 3 sc,
*ch 5, sk next 3 sc,
sc in next 5 sc. Repeat from * across. End with ch 5, sk next 3 sc, sc in last 3 sc. (24 ch-5 sps, 21 scs) turn

ROW 3: ch 1, sc in next 2 sc, sk next sc,
*ch 3, sc in next ch-5 sp,
ch 3, sk 1 sc,
sc in next 3 sc, sk next sc. Repeat from * across. End with ch 3, sk next sc, sc in last 2 sc. (48 ch-3 sps, 97 scs) turn

ROW 4: ch 1, sc in first sc, sk next sc,
*ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp,
sc in next sc,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
ch 3, sk next sc,
sc in next sc, sk next sc. Repeat from * across. End with ch 3, sk next sc, sc in last sc. (48 ch-3 sps, 97 scs) turn

ROW 5: ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and 2chs) sc in ch-3 sp,
sc in next 3 scs,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
*ch 5, sk next sc,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
sc in next 3 scs,
sc in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * across. End with ch 2, dc in last sc. (23 ch-5 sps; 120 scs) turn.

ROW 6: ch 1, sc in first dc,
ch 3, sk next sc,
sc in next 3 scs, sk next sc,
*ch 3, sc in next ch-5 sp,
ch 3, sk next sc,
sc in next 3 sc, sk next sc. Repeat from * across. End with ch 3, sc in the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 5 of the previoius row. (48 ch-3 sps, 97 scs) turn.

ROW 7: ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next ch-3 sp,
ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next sc, sk next sc,
*ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp,
sc in next sc,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
ch 3, sk next sc,
sc in next sc, sk next sc. Repeat from * across. End with ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp,
sc in last sc. (48 ch-3 sps, 97 scs) turn.

ROW 8: ch 1, sc in next 2 sc,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
*ch 5, sk next sc,
sc in next ch-3 sp,
sc in next 3 scs,
sc in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * across. End with ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in last 2 sc. (24 ch-5 sps, 121 scs) turn.

ROWS 9 THRU 50: repeat rows 3 thru 8

NOTE: I stopped at row 50 but you can make your stole as wide as you want stopping sooner or continuing for more rows. Just make sure to end with a row 8.

ROW 51: ch 1, sc in next 3 sc,
*5 sc over next ch-5 sp,
sc in next 5 scs. Repeat from * across. End with sc over next ch-5 sp, sc in last 3 sc. DO NOT TURN.

EDGING
sc evenly around all 4 sides, placing stitches in end of rows, and having 3 sc in ea corner.
FASTEN OFF AND WEAVE IN ENDS

I believe this should be titled for the stole, instead of the hat.
