Pot and Plate Pinchers

Here is a quick and easy pattern for some mini hot pads to use on those plates or bowls that are too hot to remove from the microwave. A pair can be made in about an hour or less.

Pot Pinchers (No-Sew!)
Pattern by Carolyn VanOstran

Sizes: sm, med, lg


Supplies:
Yarn-4ply ww cotton yarn small amount
Yarn needle
Hook- H/8--5.0mm

Stitches:
sc2tog: insert hook into st, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through all loops

Pattern:
(Pad)
Row 1: Ch 4 (6, 10), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across, turn. 3 (5, 9) sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in ea sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn. 5 (7, 11) sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in ea sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn. 7 (9, 13) sc.
Rows 4-16: Ch 1, sc in ea sc across, turn.
Row 17: Ch 1, sc2tog (see stitches), sc in ea sc across until last 2 sc, sc2tog in last 2 sc, turn. 5 (7, 11) sc.
Row 18: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in ea sc across until last 2 sc, sc2tog in last 2 sc. Fasten off and weave in ends. 3 (5, 9) sc.

(Finger Slots)--Make 2
Rows 1-3: Repeat Rows 1-3 as above
Row 4-9: Sc in ea sc across, turn. 7 (9, 13) sc
Row 10: Ch 1, sl st in ea sc across, do not turn.

Holding pad and piece just made together, sl st both pieces together on Row 9 of pad, ch 1, sc in ea row edge and through both pieces around ending on Row 9 on opposite side. Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat for other side.

Thank you very much for the pattern. I will be making some of these. So much more convenient then using a huge hotpad.

Oops! I'll add that to the pattern, but I used a H/8 5.0 mm
