Size: shoud fit newborn, about 4.5 inches long laying flat

Materials: -J(6.0mm) hook
-less than 1-2 ounces of WW yarn, my exmple uses "I love this
yarn" by Hobby Lobby in 3 colors
-stitch marker
-Yarn needle to weave in ends

Gauge: 4 sc stitches = 1 inch
4 rows = 1 inch

Stitches and abbreviations used:
-slip stitch (sl st)
-single crochet (sc)
-double crochet (dc)
-front post dc (fpdc)
-back post dc (bpdc)
-increase (inc)
-stitch(es) (st[s])
-fasten off (fo)

Notes:

-I used 3 colors, first color, a sea green, is color A
second color, a light bue, is color B
third color, a dark blue, I call color C

-place stitch marker at beginning of each round

-entire pattern is worked in rounds that are NOT joined, unless otherwise stated

-any sl sts made are usually to make color changes less ditinguishable, as in rounds 7, 8, 13, and 14

-ch 2 in round 14-16 DOES NOT count as first dc!!!

Now for the pattern!

With color A,

1) ch 4. join with a sl st to form ring, do 6 sc in ring (6)

2) (sc inc in each st) around (12)

3) (sc inc, sc in next st) around (18)

4) (sc inc, sc in next 2 sts) around (24)

5) (sc inc, sc in next 3 sts) around (30)

6) (sc inc, sc in next 4 sts) round (36)

7) (sc inc, sc in next 5 sts) around, mke a very tight sl st in first st (42)

-join color B, cut color A, continue with color B-

8) sc in each st around, join with a tight sl st in first sc (42)

9-12) sc in each st around (42)

13) sc in each st around, make a very tight sl st in the first sc of the round (42)

-join color C, cut color B, continue with color C-

14) ch 2, dc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of first dc (not the ch 2) (42)

15-16) ch 2, (fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st) around, join with a sl st to top of first dc (not the ch 2) (42)

-After finishing round 16, fo and weave in ends. Your baby hat is finished!-

If you have made one of these hats, please consider makig one for charity!
