Walking cane cover???

Does anyone know of a pattern ( free ) for this? I have a friend who wants to cover the lower part of her walking cane. I have been looking, but I just can't find anything. You all are always so smart at finding what I'm looking for. I think I just don't word things right.

Would a pattern for a chair slipper work? Y'know those things that cover the legs of a chair so they don't scratch the floor? I'm thinking that if the cane has a rubber-gripper thing on the end it would help hold the slipper on, with a tie at the top. Of course, it would look really cute if the slipper turned out to be more of a knee-high sock, made in bright colours and changing colours every row or two.

I've never made a chiar slipper before so I have no idea where to find a pattern, but I'm guessing stargazers site (??) might have one, if not you could try doing a google-search.

Hope this helps!
Fran

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING - if you cover the very end of the cane with something crocheted, won't the end of the cane slide? making un-safe to use? Perhaps "leggings" for the cane instead of a slipper would be safer.

Just a thought, I don't want anyone to get hurt.

I am inclined to agree with Fran......Canes are designed to have a rubber tip to keep from sliding......covering it up would make it hazardous. I think a cane cover to "decorate" the cane would be better....leaving the rubber stopper exposed.
