Desperate need for cat toys & blankies

My friend and I rescued a stray cat the other day and we brought him to the local humane society for a safe place and she ended up taking him back home with her due to the deplorable situation.
The cat shelter was overun with cats and the shelter is struggling as best they can. I am now volunteering and helping with litter changes, food and general needs. But what the cats really need are blankies to love on and toys. There is not a single toy in that place. All the donations go straight to their basic needs, and toys and loveys are not considered a basic need
So if anyone can help me with small blankets and toys I would appreciate it.
The toys can be any crocheted item, like a curly string, a stuffed mouse, a ball, anything. THe blankets don't have to big, just large enough for a cat to lay on. Catnip would be appreciated as well. Here in Alaska we only have one decent kind and its $4.99 for a small bag, and with the rise in gas prices all the store items like toys are ridiculously overpriced (because everything has to be shipped up here). I am doing what I can, but I can only do so much by myself.
Please if anyone can help, please please do.
PM me for any other information.
Thank you for reading this.

Added:
Here is a pic of the kitty I am trying to talk the hubby into fostering. But if you look behind him you can see how awful and sad the place is. And not a comfy soft spot to lay down anywhere.

I have spiders on long strings, long curly chase things, mice, balls, cat beds, balls, and curly cat collars, several dozen of each. They're all good things to use up yarn, and easy to do when you're watching TV. I promised them for the bazaar for my girlfriend's church, though, but she tells me it's getting smaller every year, and I can make more and send you what's not sold. If you don't want the collars I can sell them at the Christmas bazaar near me for pets of homeless people. Thank you for doing this!

I got the patterns for everything at

http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/index.php

PM me your address or where I can send this.

P. S. You could have a sale using the collars; people will buy ANYTHING for pets. Tell me if there's something else you need. I make no promises, but you never know!

I have some polar fleece I can cut up for blankets, and some fluffy yarn I can make into spirals--my cats like them. I'll see if I can rustle up some catnip, too. Just give me a pm!

(And tell your husband that being kind to strays will help him avoid the curse of the Crazy Cat Lady. It's a really bad curse. Besides, sucking up to the cats now will help you when they take over in the future. )

Husband will probably let me have him enventually He has a super soft spot for wounded/injured/neglected things, and they all have a unique bond with him. For all his abrasive exterior he is a gentle man.

Hubby likes him, but we are worried about his runny nose.

Thank you so much ladies. I cannot express how much this means to me. I have been on this site for a year now and I am always amazed by how quickly everyone jumps in to help. You are an amazing group of people with unbelievable generousity. I can't wait to give the cats all their new toys and lovies!

Here is another site with 2 toys. They are knit patterns, but the super simple concept will work for crochet as well. I am going to make some of these tonight.
