Beaded Crochet Handbag

Materials:

2 - 50 gram skeins Patons Brilliant Yarn (available from my website, www.nicannmardee.com) or other sport weight yarn

Size 3.5 Crochet Hook

2 round bag handles, 4 inches in diameter

164 - 6mm beads

2 fabric scraps 14 inches by 14 inches

beading thread

Make 2 sides:
Ch 22 plus 3 for first dc
dc in each st across
ch 3, turn
dc in each st across
ch 5, turn
dc in same st.
*sk next 2 st, (dc, ch2, dc) in next st*
repeat between * 7 more times
ch3, turn.
5 dc in 1st ch 2 space.
*ch2, 6 dc in next ch2 space*
repeat between * across and for 3 more rows.
ch3, turn
5 dc in 1st ch 2 space
*ch 3, 6 dc in next ch 2 space*
continue between * across and for 24 more rows.
fasten off

Using beading or extra strong thread, sew beads to each bag side as shown in photo.
Right side together, sew bag parts together starting at row 7.
turn bag right side out.
Right sides together, sew fabric pieces together on 3 sides, turn.
Instert fabric bag into crocheted bag. Using the beading thread, hand sew top fabric edge down and to fourth row of crocheting, stretching crochet work and leaving excess fabric to fill up space at bag edges (so that opening the bag is easier)
Fold top row of dc around bag handle and sew firmly to second row of dc.
