Happy Bunny!!

Happy Bunny!

This bunny is inspired by the movie Bambi!
Unlike my other animal pattens, this is not a miniture animal! Bunny works up to be about 10 inches tall, not including his 6 inch ears!

Please do not sell this pattern.

Supplies needed:
G Hook
Different colors of WW yarn
Felt for eyes
Fiberfill
2 pipe cleaners (chinelle stems)
Pom-pom for tail.

Terms used
Sc = single crochet
Sc-dec = single crochet decrease over 2 stitches
Ch = chain
FO = Finish off, or Fasten off
Dc= double crochet
Hdc= half double crochet
BLO= Back loops only (just for the specified row)


Head
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round.
With main color (I used a light lavender)
Ch 2
1) 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook
2) ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)
3) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc) repeat around (18 sc)
4) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc) repeat around (24 sc)
5) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc) repeat around (30 sc)
6-11) ch 1, sc in each sc around
12) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc) repeat around (45 sc)
13-16) ch 1, sc in each sc around
17) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc) repeat around (36 sc)
18) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next 2 sc) repeat around (27 sc)
19) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next sc) repeat around (18 sc)
FO leaving longer tail

Cheeks
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round
With tan,
Ch 16
1) 2 sc in 2n chain from hook. Sc in the next 13 chains. 3 sc in last chain from hook. Working on underside of original chain, sc in next 13 chains. Sc in remaining ch (also the first chain you 2 sc’d into) join. (32 sc)
2) ch 1, 2 sc in each of the first 2 sc’s, sc in next 13 sc. 2 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc in next 13 sc, 2 sc in last sc (38 sc)
3) ch 1, 2 sc in the first 3 sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in next 5 sc, sc in next 14 sc, 2 sc in last 2 sc. (48 sc)
FO leaving long tail for sewing
Using a scrap piece of yarn, gather the middle of the cheeks slightly, by weaving yarn through middle (the short way) and pulling tight.

Nose
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round
With white,
Ch 5
1) 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in next 2 chains. 3 sc in last ch. Working on underside, sc in next 2 sc, sc in last ch (which is also the first ch you first 2 sc’d into) (10 sc)
2) ch 1, 2 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc. ( 16 sc)
3) ch 1, sc in each sc around.
FO leaving long tail.

Embroider upside down triangle onto nose.
Sew cheeks to head. Sew nose on top of cheeks middle.

Ears (make 2 of main color, make 2 of contrast)
Starting at top of ear, and working to tip of ear,
Ch 8
1) sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in remaining 6 sc. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
2-16) sc in each sc across. Ch 1 turn.
17) sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
18) sc-dec, sc in next sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)
19) sc in each sc across.
FO

Take one main color ear, and one contrast color ear and hold together. With main color, sc evenly around ear, starting at one top side, working down to tip, and up to other top side. Be sure to leave the end open. (Row 1)
Take a pipe cleaner/ stem and bend slightly in half. (don’t pinch middle flat) Put loop side into each ear with ends sticking out. Trim ends of stems if needed.
Sew ears to head. (You can pose ears now!)
Stuff head.
Cut half ovals of felt for eyes. Glue or sew into place.
Cut out half oval of black for mouth, cutting notches out to fit underneath nose.
Cut out pink felt for tongue, cut out white felt for tooth. Glue or sew all mouth pieces into place.
Head complete!

Body
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round
Starting at bottom of body and working up, you will be shaping the backside of the bunny. The seam will go up the front of bunny, which will be covered up also.
With main color,
Ch 2
1) 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook
2) ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)
3) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc) repeat around (18 sc)
4) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc) repeat around (24 sc)
5) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc) repeat around (30 sc)
6) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc) repeat around (36 sc)
7) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc) repeat around (42 sc)
8) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc) repeat around (48 sc)
9) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 7 sc) repeat around (54 sc)
10) ch 1, (2 sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc) repeat around (60 sc)
11) ch 1, In BLO, sc in each sc around
12-15) ch 1, sc in each sc around
16) ch 1, sc in first 18 sc, (sc-dec, sc in next 2 sc) repeat ( ) 5 MORE times, sc in last 18 sc. (54 sc)
17) ch 1, sc in each sc around
18) ch 1, sc I first 15 sc, (sc-dec, sc in next 2 sc) repeat ( ) 5 MORE times, sc in last 15 sc. (48 sc)
19) ch 1, sc in each sc around
20) ch 1, sc in first 12 sc, (sc-dec, sc in next 2 sc) repeat ( ) 5 MORE times, sc in last 12 sc. (42 sc)
STUFF
21) ch 1, sc in each sc around
22) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next 5 sc) repeat around (36 sc)
23-25) ch 1, sc in each sc around
26) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next 4 sc) repeat around (30 sc)
27) ch 1, sc in each sc around.
28) ch 1, (sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc) repeat around (24 sc)

Feet (make 2)

3) ch 1, 2 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (22 sc)
4-11) ch 1, sc in each sc around
12) ch 1, (sc-dec), repeat ( ) ONE more time, sc in next 5 sc, (sc-dec), repeat ( ) 2 MORE times, sc in next 5 sc, sc-dec. (16 sc)
FO leaving long tail for sewing.
Embroider on bunny toes.
Stuff lightly
Sew feet onto bunny.

Chest Tuft
With white
Ch 14
1) sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in each remaining ch. Ch 1 turn. (13 sc)
2) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 11 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch1, turn. (15 sc)
3-4) sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
5) sc-dec, sc in next 11 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)
6) sc-dec, sc in next 9 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (11 sc)
7) sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
8) sc-dec, sc in next 7 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn (9 sc)
9) sc-dec, sc in next 5 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
10) sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc, sc-dec. (5 sc)
FO leaving long tail for sewing.

Front body contrast
With tan,
Ch 10
1) sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in each remaining ch. Ch 1 turn. (9 sc)
2) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch1, turn. (11 sc)
3-4) sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
5) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)
6-14) sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
15) sc-dec, sc in next 9 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (11 sc)
16) sc-dec, sc in next 7 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)
17) sc-dec, sc in next 5 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
18) sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc, sc-dec. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
FO leaving LONG tail for sewing.
Sew front body contrast to bunny body, going up front, covering joining seam.
Sew chest tuft right under bunnys head, overlapping front body contrast.

Arms (make 2)
Each round ends with a slip stitch to the first stitch made in that round
With main color, leaving a LONG beginning chain,
Ch 5
1) 2sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in next 2 chs, 3 sc in last ch. Working on underside of original ch, sc in next 2 chs, sc in last ch (also the first ch you 2 sc’d in) (10 sc)
2) ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 4 sc. (12 sc)
3-4) ch 1, sc in each sc around
5) sc-dec, sc in next 4 sc, sc-dec, sc in last 4 sc. (10 sc)
6-7) ch 1, sc in each sc around.
STUFF
8) Ch 2, (this does NOT count as a stitch here or through out arm) Dc in first 3 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, sc in next2 sc, hdc in next 2 sc, dc in last sc.
9-10) ch 2, dc in first 2 dc, hdc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, hdc in next stitch, dc in last dc.
STUFF
11-13) ch 1, sc in each stitch around
14) Sc-dec, sc in next 3 sc, sc-dec, sc in last 3 sc.
FO leaving long tail
Use scrap yarn to emboider claws on arms.
Finish stuffing
Use end tail to sew arm end shut.
Use beginning tail to sew arm to bunny body.
Sew or glue pom-pom to bunny tushy.

Bunny is complete!
