Looking for Poncho Pattern

I am looking for a pattern or a picture of one recently made of a poncho made out of two rectangles. I got a catalog in mail and it is full of them already made no patterns. I know there is one on Groovy but it is huge and long and not exactly what I am looking for. Anyone understand or seen one?Sutty's Crochet

You could make the rectangles yourself, as if you were doing a wide scarf in the design that you like (stripes maybe? I've seen stripes in that type of poncho and it looks really nice. ). You could make it as wide or thin as you want and as long or short as you want until it fits perfect. That way, instead of modifying a particular pattern, you have your own design.

Somewhere on the board here there are a few good posts about making ponchos out of rectangles.

Without searching for them, what I remember is you can either make 2 equal rectangles out of any stitch you like. Adjust the legnth and width to work well with your size. Sew Lay one out horozontally and the other vertically, think of a L
Sew them together where they meet and then bring the other end around to the other end and sew those together. Clear as mud??? LOL!

The other way is make one very long rectangle. Lay it out horozontally. Fold it in half from left to right. Picture the "closed" end on the left, the open end on the right. From the top right corner, start sewing a seam (closing the top edge) towards the closed end, go probably about 1/2 way. This is your neck opening, so it depends on how wide/off the shouder you want it to be.
Here's one I did before & after I sewed it.

<a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/ilexmi/shawl2.jpg" target="_new">after</a>

Ok, I know that's not the best description but hopefully you get the idea or can find the old posts. It may be in the seeking pattern section or it might be under the ponchorama thread.

At the bottom of the page for this <a href="http://www.adultramblings.therapids.net/stripedponcho.html" target="_new">striped poncho</a> is a picture showing how to make a poncho from two rectangles. Use whatever stitch you like and then, use the diagram to assemble it.

Thanks I did start on the rectangles I guess the hard part is knowing the size of the rectangles so that it makes a nice sized poncho. Thanks for the suggestions and demonstrations and adultrambling site. My printers down but hope to get it up soon and can print the diagrams. Sutty's Crochet
