Rubber Duck

Here's my newest project. I couldn't decide on what to do for eyes, and decided he was cute without them. The pattern is a little bit different (the beak and the body) than the duck in the picture. Please try it and let me know how it comes out!

Rubber Duck

Yellow Caron Simply Soft yarn
Orange Caron Simply Soft yarn (small amount for beak)
Size F hook
Stuffing
Stitch markers

Body

1: Chain 8, sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in next 5 chains. 3 sc in last chain.
On other side of chain sc in next 5 chains. 2 sc in last chain. (16)
2: *Sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in next 3 stitches. Repeat from *. (22)
3: *Sc in next 8 stitches, 2 sc in next 3 stitches. Repeat from *. (28)
4: *Sc in next 11 stitches, 2 sc in next 3 stitches. Repeat from *. (34)
5-10: sc in each stitch around. (34)
11: *Sc in next 11 stitches, 3 dec (over next 6 stitches). Repeat from *. (28)
12: *Sc in next 8 stitches, 3 dec (over next 6 stitches). Repeat from *. (22)
13: *Sc in next 5 stitches, 3 dec (over next 6 stitches). Repeat from *. (16)
14: sl st in next stitch. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Body can be stuffed and sewn closed or left open for storage (cotton balls, Q-tips, etc).

Head

Row 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook. (6)
Row 2: 2 sc in each stitch (12)
Row 3: *sc in next 1 stitch, inc. Repeat from * around. (18)
Row 4-8: sc in each stitch around. (18)
Row 9: *sc in next 1 stitches, dec. Repeat from * around. (12)
Row 10: dec around. (6)
Row 11: sl st in next stitch. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing. (6)

Stuff head and sew to body.

Beak

1: ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook. (8)
2: sc in each stitch around. (8)
3: *sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch. Repeat from *. (10)
4: sc in each stitch around. (10)
5: sl st in next stitch. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Stuff beak and sew to front of head.

Tail Feathers

1: ch 8, sc in 2nd stitch from hook and across. Ch 1, turn. (7)
2: sc in first stitch, (hdc, sc) in second stitch, (sl st, sc) in third stitch, (hdc, dc, hdc) in fourth stitch, (sc, sl st) in fifth stitch, (sc, hdc) in sixth st, sc in last stitch. (13)
3: (work one in each stitch across unless specified) sc, hdc, sc, sl st, sc, hdc, (2dc) in same stitch, hdc, sc, sl st, sc, hdc, (sc, sl st) in last stitch.
(15)

Sew tail feathers to duck’s tail end.
Be honest, please. Don't sell this pattern.

I have never seen such a perfect rubber duck! And I think he's great without eyes.

Very cute I may just have to whip one up now You could paint on the eyes.
