I googled "crusher hat pattern" and found several sites. Maybe one of them will have exactly what you're looking for.

http://www.fibertrends.com/viewer/V8_crochet.html This is one I really want.
If you find one like this one for free let me know. I know I'll have to break down and get this one eventually. Love the shape of them.

I don't think you'd even need a pattern. They look very simple. If you can do a cloche-type hat, get to the point where you want to start the brim. Do a round crocheting into either the front only or the back only of the previous round (not sure which one will turn it outward, but it only takes a few stitches to experiment). After that, you just keep increasing to keep it flat, then probably decrease a few rounds for the turnup.

I'd use a fairly small hook for the yarn, to keep it stiff enough to hold its shape.

Make sense?

Thanks for nudging me to try that myself. I've made a ton of hats, its all just a little trial and error right? They just look so good when someone else does it.

And it'll look just as good when you do it.

Go on, you can do it! Especially if you've made hats before, they're all made pretty much alike.

Isn't that kind of like the hat that Tiffany posted a pattern for just recently? Or maybe it is just the picture that I saw of them that made it look like that. I just peeked at the pic in the link.

crusher

I made a couple of the Fibre Trends crusher hats for Mom when she had chemo recently. She loved them and always was complimented when she wore them. She especially liked the black one with a white crocheted rose I put on it.
