Materials:

Worsted Weight Yarn in:
Green 9 to 12 oz
Yellow 4oz
White 1oz
(I used Red Heart Supersaver yarn in Spring Green, Bright Yellow, and Bright White.)

Size E hook
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker
Polyfil
Black and White felt (for Eyes)
(I used the sticky felt)

Finish Size: About 17”h x 9”w (6”w not counting arms)

Different Stitches:

Dc Popcorn St: 5 dc in next st, take hook out of loop, stick hook into loops of 1st dc, then stick hook in loop from before, pull up loop thru loops of 1st dc and ch1. Diagram: Here
Note: When doing the claws to do a color change, you will be changing colors by doing the ch1 in a different color.

Sc Popcorn St: 5 sc in next st, take hook out of loop, stick hook into loops of 1st sc (in 5 sc group), then stick hook in loop from before, pull up loop thru loops of 1st sc and ch1.

Picot: Ch2, slst in 2nd chain from hook.

Notes:

I crochet left handed, so some of the diagrams might look opposite to those who crochet right handed.

When doing my sc decreases, sometimes I do them in the front loops only. It helps minimize the hole sometimes left when decreasing. (Except when doing the Front scales)

Mark the first stitch of the round and move it up as you go along, to keep track.

Sometimes when I’m working in back loops only, I like to go in both back loops. Diagram: Here

Directions:

Notes:

For the next round you will be doing Dc Popcorn Sts and color changes.

When color changing to white, you will be pulling up a white loop when finishing 2nd sc.

Spiny thing:

Finish off and weave in ends.

Eyes: I cut out two ¾”inch circles for the eyes out of felt and then cut out long triangles for the eyebrows. I cut out 4 small white triangles and then put 2 in each eye. Then I stuck the eyes and eyebrows onto the face. I was going to use craft glue, but I misplace mine, so I ended up using the sticky felt. I wouldn’t recommend it. If gifting to a child, sew the eyes on, make crochet eyes, or use safety eyes.

Enjoy!!!!

Very cute! Make it purple, shorten the arms and you've got every toddler's favorite dinosaur! I'll have to give amigurumi a try for this one.
