Shaped slippers

Shaped Slippers

I worked these up today - they're super cute, made to fit my foot which is around a 7 - 8 (usa)

Each slipper is shaped to fit either the left or right foot - be sure to measure as you go by trying it on.
Please post pics here if you whip up a pair!

Using Lionbrand Woolease and an H hook
Chain 7

Row 1: 3 sc in second sc from hook, sc to end, work another 2sc in end sc. Continue around the cornersc in each sc to end, slip to join.

Row 2 - 8: continue around, increase on one side only by working 3sc into end sc.(continue till piece can cap over your toes - my 8 rows covers mine!)

Row 9 - 26: sc around once in each sc. (piece should now cover your foot - add more rows if its short for you or deduct if its too long)While you have the piece on your foot, mark the 8 stitches on top of your foot. (I've also marked and left 10 stitches)
You can do less rows here, and add to the next step the rows you leave off. This will make a wider/bigger opening.

Row 27 - 37: sc back and forth (not working the top stitches you marked)Do not chain one on turn, once you turn, sc in that same stitch at the very start of the row.Mark the center 8 stitches on the piece just worked.
(you can do another sc row and bind off if you prefer at this point)

Row 38: sc across till the 8 you marked, you will sc decrease over these, then sc to end.

Row 39: sc.

Row 40: sc

FINISHING:Without binding off, continue to sc around the opening of the slipper.Work 1 or 2 rows around in sc (you will cross over the gap at the heel twice) Bind offleaving a long enough tail to whip stitch the back heel closed.

I'm actually adding a few rows around the back, after wearing them for a bit - I feel more comfie with more shoe up the back! LOL

This works:
Joined yarn at back of heel - did one round sc.
Sc to first corner (front side of foot), slip stitch, turn and sc to the next front corner, slip stitch, turn and go all the way around again.

Looks cute, just a half an inch longer at the back.

I thought CLOGS as well - LOL - I'm doing one right now with wool - larger hook to see if I can felt it. I've never felted anything in my LIFE, but its worth a shot to see how they turn out - I'll post my "findings" LOL

Wow, love these -- my feet get so cold. Don't have any wool on hand but it's on my wish list now!

Well I finished my slipper to felt - it looks HUGE and really ugly. WOuld probably fit a Yeti! LOL we'll see how well it felts, I had to switch from plain neutral wool to wool I had dyed with kool-aid as I didn't want to use a new skein. so its going to look funny anyway with a pink heel.

Edit to add: My wool I think is just too bulky - it won't get much smaller it seems. I'll try again when I can get some more wool.

I was thinking this would be super for a couple of my new dutch relies I met this year in Holland ....

Let me know how you make out on your next try of felting .... I've never done it before but sure sounds fun...wondering if it works only on reg wool instead of bulky??
